Warren Ham is such a kickass session artist. Look at him have this crazy flute solo, and just almost instantaneously switches to the main synth solo 2:00 ... he's also a badass singer, he does the high tenor parts in the backing vocals
any kansas fan that "heard" their music surely knows we should cherish all of the musicians that are fortunate enough to have their time in these bands. They are all the best at what they do.. Peace, starts with each of us
My friend called Robbie and John "Dimebag Senior" and "Seinfeld Junior" respectively. Anyway, I remember snatching this from a local video store that went out of business. I rented this vid maybe six or seven times, so I felt I could give it a new home. Soon after as it is in my possession, I played the bananas outta it and I still have it after 25 years!
Excellent concert vid! They were tights as hell! I still have the VHS cassette too! I'm sure someone ripped the entire concert and shoved it on youtube.
dchris, you don't have any hard data to make that conclusion. Personally, I think Steve's departure and the changing musical landscape contributed the most to Kansas' decline in popularity. Kansas' lyrics have always been spiritual in nature, and VC wasn't any different. I was a Christian for over 8 years when VC came out, and even I wasn't sure Kerry was talking about Christ - I had to read his autobiography to be sure. :^)
Kerry's writing was always about where his head was, whether pre or post conversion; he didn't ruin the band any more than Walsh who walked away from it first. Proselytizing? Come on. Listen to this song or any from VC or DM. He didn't proselytize. At least the band realized how much they needed his writing and did Somewhere to Elsewhere, though Walsh had already wrecked his voice long before then.
that's Warren Ham, multi-instrumentalist, great singer too. He could give Walsh & Elefante a run for their money. He is also a featured vocalist on Livgren's AD albums
If you do some digging with Warren Ham, there is a video of him in Olivia Newton John in concert, and he takes the part of John Travolta in duets. Saw him as a member of the 4 Seasons singing with Frankie Valli years ago as well.

John is really a great singer, and I didn't know he played guitar as well! Very talented!
Here's Kansas as its best. JE is the Voice of rock music.
Filling Walsh's shoes is NO easy FEET. I give John BIG props!

Elefante doesn't need to play guitar here. Looks unnatural. Another gem by Livgren off the vinyl confessions album.
Completely agree!
Rhythm section really propels this song.
