Thanks for making this series! Looking forward to Ultimate Base 4.0! One of the neat things here was seeing Nathan thrown out of his comfort zone, but still staying calm, polite and entertaining. Trying a "hard" start for Ultimate base 4.0 would capture some of what I most enjoyed out of the 100 dup challenge. But for new players, doing your normal per-episode/per-contraption focus as usual is still fine. Your ultimate base 3.0 SPOM was a good innovation.
I'll consider a hard start, I usually didn't do it because it let new people get introduced to the game properly. A hard map with increased difficulty settings can discourage a new player from enjoying the game;)
Nathan, I know my comments aren't usually much (I leave them for the algorithm) but I wanted to say thank you for taking us on this journey with you and I really enjoyed this challenge. I'm really looking forward to your Ultimate Base 4.0! Your videos always put me in a good mood and I enjoy your humor. ❤
Had a lot of fun watching this one! Looking forward to ultimate base 4.0 - give my suggestion some thought: only recruit unique duplicants, so no repeats! 😁
I tried few times: 1. normal settings with sandstone biome classic start is easy. (Nathan was quite unoptimized on breathing and on mushbars front. Would perform much better with 20 oxygen diff from day 1 swapped later either on overpressure-hydrolyzer setups or just organized but dispersed grid. Also with fixed dupes for water carrying; and less chaotic cooking area) 2. normal settings with forest biome classic start is hard. You are on timer to get rust+salt for early oxygen. You need roll few hard digger traits to have at least some chances. If you don't find them making temporary hydrolyzers with only T1 research will be painful. 3. hard settings with sandstone biome classic is nearly impossible. You need print specialized dupes with mods instead spawn random ones to have enough +7 cook dupes and enough +7 constructors. You need dedicated cooks hamsterwheelers, dedicated haulers and dedicated cleaners with all other jobs locked 4. hard settings with forest biome is imo impossible - microbe mushers with dupes gasping are just too inefficient - every time i was dead about cycle 4-5. Dupes was starving before even mushers were constructed. And gasping while mushing make it sooo inefficient. Anyway: any classic settings with sandstone or mud start are doable because you have oxygen solution from cycle 1. Lack of oxygen just make dupes at start too inefficient. (but at normal diff you still have some chances). BUT this is noob talk. If you want "hardest setting" - do that on Moonlet start. You need to kickstart colonisation asap to split your colony in managable smaller ones.

I appreciate that! Thanks for supporting the channel so much;)
I found your channel from the Factorio megabase series, and don't play this game, but enjoyed your series on it! Looking forward to what comes next :)
Awesome, thank you!
Great job Nathan, thank you for this whole series which I followed from the start!
Cheers;)
NASA called for you Nathan: they want their computer back.
😂
@@Nathans-Sandbox Seriously though, well done. It didn't look possible. Impressive gameplay to do this on only the second attempt. Congratulations!
was great to watch, keep it up Nathan!
Will do, 4.0 starting tonight;)
That was a really fun ride! You're making me want to do something crazy, and I can barely survive the regular game, hahaha. Keep up the great work!
Cant wait to watch the ultimate base 4.0
It's up tonight, first episode.

I will try.
19:05 "Because I already have the dupe labor, no problem." 😂
For the ultimate base 4.0, you should do a maximum difficulty run, probably on oasisse since it’s the hardest map
Max difficulty meaning every setting to the hardest?
@@Nathans-Sandbox yes - max stress, worst hunger, that sort of thing.
You made it look so easy in that second try. Maybe I will try it after this Ultimate Base 4.0 series I'm playing.🙂
If you do, good luck!
Is this even possible on the hardest settings?
