What's funny is this is a repost from about 2009, back when I dj'd. I remember going to my friends and showing them this video. Now I know why It disappeared from my favorite list
For those asking - as with any promotional video there has to be more than one take. So the full performance audio-wise is a single take and chosen from many other single takes. Then the video is edited together from the many video takes. Hence the slight changes you can spot if you really look that closely. Thanks everyone for your comments
@noahcschaefer just the coordination involved with scratchinng there persona's in takes alot. I could never imagine controlling vinyl like this. amazing
this video took me an hour to watch. first 3.55 min fot watching.. then the rest for getting through how amazing this was.. of the top best dubstep remix ever
I think the video was shot in one take with multiple cameras running. The cameras are synced up by matching ambient audio waveforms or just a simple physical indicator like a finger snap. The audio was most likely recorded on a laptop and then matched to video later by finding the first sound that was made on the recording and matching it to the first sound on the video. If it was all one shot the audio would be very easy to match because only one sync point would need to be found.
I just realized that Switch's right deck's ortofon changed into Shure ( Maybe ) So this video was taken twice or more ( Maybe one of those ortofon was broken or damaged ) hahahahaha
I saw DJ Switch at BPM2011 in Birmingham(UK) and he does this live with many styles of music... the guy is a legend!!! For those haters or those that think this is somehow fake and edited afterwards, it isn't as I've seen DJ Switch do this live!! The only thing you don't see here are the laptops as they are using timecoded vinyl (check to the right of the decks at 22s in)... I have total respect for both of these guys, they turn music into their own style...
Jesteśmy wielcy, MY Polacy ;-). Wymyśliliśmy internet i narzuciliśmy narodom język polski jako główny. Brawo.
+Matthew Sokoloff Ego tripping fuckheads with equipment aren't DJs...they're machine operators for Denon or Pionner....WHERE'S THE FUCKING MUSIC? There is none here. I started in '76, and have NEVER scratched or any of that shit....it's fucking annoying and directed at morons.
The green ones are timecode platters for use with a digital mixing setup. These days there's little difference between them and traditional vinyl... :)
these guys beatmatching is out of this world, the fact that they can do all this other crazy shit whilst keeping 4 decks in time with another person is fucking incredible
yes you are. Awesome work. I didn't see it till I read the comments, and now I'm researching the illuminati as I didn't even know what the illuminati was until I saw this comment only what I saw in Angels and Demons. Thank you for leading me into an awakening of the worlds elite. I feel a little strange now though thinking that everything I ever thought has completely been designed by a group of satan worshiping pedo's who have been controlled by the devil or aliens/reptilians to bring the world to it's formidable destruction. One must ask themselves..... why would they go to so much trouble to advertise?
loved how you went from old school hip-hop style to your remix. Seemed like a shout out to the beginnings of the modern DJ and modern electronic music.
Holy Jesus of Mother pearl what did I just listen to the beat it up on that dang DJing is sweet takes so much hand eye and taste for music and have to have a thing for music like a certain touch that doesn't make sense to me how you do that to a great song an make it better wow
YESSSSS...... thasss the one....... turntablist at their funkiest best.... nice 1 jfb and switch!!!!! dubstep or glitch... who care.... its all just music to me. yours truly... kevn
Yea, just watched this shit back again frame by frame and tried to replicate on my 1210's and CDJ 2000's digital vinyl and have realised you guys have re-mastered the shit out of the whole thing. Clever camera work. 1.5 mill well deserved... Very impressed. Epic.
I'm a DJ, specialized in minimal techno, techhouse and european hardcore and I kind of hate dubstep, but I'm amazed by this performance and yes, I love the tune :D Respect !
I'll attempt to answer your question and comment in parts as you bring up more than one. First, people are impressed because of the skill level combined with the creativity. Not either one alone. I noticed flare combos, twiddles, transforms and chirps and then they backed it up with beat juggling and effective use of traktor looping and cueing functions. Second, this is a live performance not a studio recording session, and the equipment being used is not used for music production, (cont)

In September 2011 a Spin Magazine EDM special referred to brostep as a "lurching and aggressive" variant of dubstep that has proven commercially successful in the United States."

What's funny is this is a repost from about 2009, back when I dj'd. I remember going to my friends and showing them this video. Now I know why It disappeared from my favorite list
I have a lot of respect for how coordinated the DJs are.
11 years later - this is how fully take advantage of modern DJ gear's possibilities in a B2B session
I still listen to this ones a day.
I still come back on the regular - its that good
VERY WELL co-ordinated between the two guys excellent Dj scratch techniques, take my hat of to these guys the practice must have been grueling.:)
Still hearing this in 2019!!! AWESOME!!!

Cool
This is unbelievable! Great switches, drops, scratches and cuts. Totally sick!
I love when they drop the DUBSTEP!!!
@noahcschaefer just the coordination involved with scratchinng there persona's in takes alot. I could never imagine controlling vinyl like this. amazing
I´ve never seen sth comparable
this video took me an hour to watch. first 3.55 min fot watching.. then the rest for getting through how amazing this was.. of the top best dubstep remix ever
Still top notch.
As a DJ myself i have nothing but respect for that, that shits not easy man!
fookin awesome!!!

As Great ad possible! Bigup!
As much as it looks like there isn't really a need for two DJ's - Guys, my hats off to you - beautiful performance and tasteful remix :-D
I just realized that Switch's right deck's ortofon changed into Shure ( Maybe )
So this video was taken twice or more ( Maybe one of those ortofon was broken or damaged )
hahahahaha
its a music video not a live set ......and as you said maybe one was broken
and you dont see any electrical cords either hanging from the mixer ;)
+Anders Bovin you're right man haha
Yeah, but you can see a big black blanket at the front covering the cables!
I saw DJ Switch at BPM2011 in Birmingham(UK) and he does this live with many styles of music... the guy is a legend!!!

That's too tough :)

You started in '76 and youre arguing over music that didnt exist back then, get real man
Millennial are idiots. Proof? See above.
The green ones are timecode platters for use with a digital mixing setup. These days there's little difference between them and traditional vinyl... :)
