    I just installed 4 of these along with 2 new Battery Doorbells and my Nest Hello wired and Old wired Nest outdoor cam. They are all working perfectly and the video quality is fantastic. Mine pick up all motion and have no issues with cooldowns. I can walk in and out of my porch, around my house and all cameras pick up the motion just fine even if I make multiple laps. My only complaint is not being able to have all my cameras in my Nest app. I have 8 Protects and other Yale locks in the Nest app along with my multiple thermostats.

      Cool...Yes, having everything in the Google Home app is not really user friendly..no snapshots of the cameras and needs some scrolling just to get to the cameras. Google needs to get more user friendly like the Ring app.

      @@njmtbiker it records 24/7 if plugged in - with Nest subscription. With respect to cooldowns, I'm ok with it having a time out bc the last thing I want is it sending me 40 notifications if I'm washing the car or in the pool. Send me one, let me know someone is there.... I can pull up the live feed and check to see what's happening anytime after that. I don't need it to keep notifying me someone is there in my pool.... or I'm washing the car in the driveway 40x's. I had the Nest IQ, this seems a little more sensitive with respect to notifications.. and they come a few seconds quicker, almost instantaneous. I was forced to changed, my Nest IQ's died in a lighting strike.

    Thanks for the informative tests. Would be interesting to know how it fares if it’s wired. Seems to behave differently. I definitely can get my notifications less than 2 secs. There seems to be a cool down, but a lot shorter. I sometimes get an event spaced a few secs. It seems though disconnection it didn’t record any event.

    Thank you for your video, I was waiting to see what you say before I go out and buy one lol. Was wondering the issues you had, I noticed were all when on battery. I think dependability is the most important feature to any camera. We can recognize almost immediately if it is someone we don't know and have time to respond. Even if the picture quality and audio is poor, just having a quick response is huge. Do you want to know if someone broke into your house before or after it happens? One of my neighbors was able to scare away thieves before they took her catalytic converter because of the response time of her ring doorbell. 2 seconds could mean so much. BTW- went to Goldilocks in Carson today for a halo halo, and my wife wondered what kind of ensemada you liked. :)

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  2 роки тому +1

      I agree...that is why notifications for me is more important the video quality...video quality is more of trying to identify who did it after the fact...but it is better to prevent the crime from happening in the first place if you can get instant notifications..and multiple notifications means for me that the motion is still there and I need to stop what I'm doing and check my phone...1 notification sometimes is not enough for me to check and most of the time..it is just someone passing by a bit close to the house that triggered my cameras...
      Wow..Goldilocks.. man.. Iike cheese and ube ensaymada ;)

    Lifehackster, I purchased a Nest Outdoor Camera back in 2019 due to it's the one that records 24hrs and it is needed for the front of the residence. Although I was tempted to buy the IQ outdoor camera back then, I am glad i did not as that camera is now discontinued. Anyways, my main point about Nest new cameras is that it feels they have downgraded in everyway or simply are trying to fool people with the "battery" cameras even if they can be wired as well, it seems the nest aware has been downgraded as well. What do you think of it?

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  2 роки тому +1

      Nest seems to consolidate their camera offerings...like their floodlight cam is only an accessory and uses this nest cam. The Nest Aware is actually affordable now for events recording - cheaper than Ring's $6 dollars a month for unlimited nest cameras and for 12 bucks a month, you can have your nest cams record continuously 24/7 which I don't recommend all of your cameras but you can have the important ones record 24/7 while others just for events. My only issue with them aside from needing the Google Home app instead of the Nest app is the delay in notifications and cool downs.

    • @footballer3524
      @footballer3524 2 роки тому

      @@LifeHackster yes, unless one is hiding gold bullions in your house there is no need to have 24/7 video recordings. As far as the flawed Nest notifications, I do not mind as I rely on Ring devices to cover for that part. You can still use the Nest App for the older nest cameras, but not for the new cameras as Nest is forcing people to use their Google Home app which is lame .
      With your reviews , I have 1 nest outdoor camera, 2 wired ring cameras 1 Ring peephole camera , 3 battery Ring stick up cameras , 2 reolink PTZ argus cameras, 1 panasonic homehawk camara, 3 Eufy cameras. Another thing you totally missed is setting the recording duration in the Home app. You can set the duration of recording up to 3 minutes. You probably had your cameras set to the very short default time. Also, you can set the camera to be more sensitive to motion (which uses more battery) but causes the camera to react faster and record clips for longer duration and to react faster.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  2 роки тому +6

      Nope didn't miss it..mentioned it a couple of times in the video (12:00 and13:02 mark)...They should have not given an option for 10 sec to 3 minutes and just go with 1-3 mins.. which is the only way to make this more reliable and hopefully catch everything in the 3 minute window..if the motion stops before that, then camera will stop recording anyways..but what is different and the "quirk" of this camera is that it stops recording after the max time it is set to record when there is still motion but if the motion stops like if you don't move if you are in the cameras view or get out of the view and stay out for 5 seconds and come back, then it will restart to record. No other camera that I have tested behave like this... Also in all my testing, I set the sensitivity to highest - ua-cam.com/video/55hhuHA1iqg/v-deo.html

    I purchased this new Nest battery camera and what a POS it was. Death perception and video quality sucks, none of my other nest cameras have a cooldown. A cool down period is not acceptable for a security device. Can't really use the camera upside down or it degrades the motion sensing capabilities. You can constantly hear the wind blowing in the mic as that doesn't do that on the older Nest cameras. Using the Google Home app is an absolute joke. Does not link up with the nest alarm. WTF am I going to do with a 3 ft power cord? So tell me again what's so damn great about this POS camera?

  • @aacar34

    I am shocked and disappointed. I received mine yesterday and returning today. It’s not compatible with the Nest App, which is far superior app to the Google Home. Most importantly, the video quality is horrendous. Grainy and blurry even in day light. I’ve tried both indoors and outdoors. It’s completely unusable indoors; and complete disaster when compared to my first generation Nest Cam and the first generation Nest Hello. I am going to wait for the wired version, which should be cheaper, but I am hoping it’s decent quality video-if not better, at least as good as my good old Nest Cam. I expect better for Google, especially at this price point.

    wyze cams v3 is better than this thing.. sad really.. maybe it needs a software upgrade . its not ready yet to compete with everything else on the market . 15 fps is terrible.. the Blink xt is 20 fps and up to 30 fps. cool off time is terrible. and for a security camera this is not reliable.

    For the price this is unacceptable. Nest/Google can do better. The picture quality should be way better. The ai should be way better. The Infrared should be better.. I just can't justify $200 when I know they're better than this crap they released to us..
