Home Free did a cover 'Helplessly Hoping', by Crosby, Stills and Nash, that is a lesson in precision and blending of textures. I think you would really enjoy it.
If you loved to react to that, you will love Home free- Helplessly hoping. Their harmonies will blow you out of the water. In that video, the bass (Tim Foust) comes in later and ties the whole arrangement together. New sub here.
I love this one so much! Can you please listen to Go Rest High On That Mountain by them? It was one of my grandpa's favorite songs. He passed away 4 months ago. We actually had the Home Free version played at his funeral
This was recorded in the Swiss Alps. The Church is a Catholic Church on the grounds of land donated to the church by the Von Trapp Family before Germany occupied Austria. This was filmed in the same area as where Julie Andrews was filmed singing The Sound Of Music.
If you want to go experience a real tear jerker form Home Free, I’d go with “Go Rest High on that Mountain”. You will NOT regret it. I cry every time I play or sing it.
Trivia: The only Grammy Elvis won was for his gospel album that was titled How Great Thou Art. The man who sang the top tenor is Austin, not beatboxer Adam Rupp. It was filmed in the Alps in Austria while they toured in Europe.
the country rebel recorded version of "go rest high on the mountain" is brilliant. and that high voice you refer to is Austin Brown, to hear him at his best, listen to "when a man loves a woman"
Another great song to listen to early in your travels down the Home Free rabbit hole is their cover of "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash. They have two versions - one featuring Avi Kaplan (formerly of Pentatonix) and one their live performance when they were on the TV show Sing Off. I kind of prefer the live version as it really is live with minimal help from production and allows you to hear what skills they really have. (Plus you get some reactions from the judges and audience, which is always fun.) But the duelling basses are also a joy. Can't go wrong with either one.
Oh Lordy, you Need to react to….” WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN”….Austin Brown is Unbelievable …he’ll blow your socks off ‼️🥰💥🔥. That one gives me tingles & chills to my toes 🔥💥🥰‼️❤️. You’ll love how they did it even during Covid…..‼️. Tim had been after Austin to do this one…So very he Did ‼️💥‼️
Adam the beat boxer has been with Home Free from the beginning .. Rob joined in 2008 .. Tim was around 2011 .. Austin was 2012 .. and Chance was end of 2016
Their bass Tim Foust is a great lead singer, they say he can sing 5 octaves, I know he can sing into a tenor range as well and then goes super low too.
They blend so well because they don't compete with each other their friends as well as accomplished artists, and the group started 20+ years but Tim(bass) Austin (high tenor) and Chance ( baritone ) have been introduced during the following years! Learn about them Adam the beat box dude sings well, Austin and Rob complement each other well Tim can sing tenor and all the way down in the basement 😀 so can Adam Chance! God blessed us when these men were put together 🙏
The last tenor lead was by Austin Brown, the tenor 1. The beat boxer sang 'It is Well'. He has a lovely bari/tenor, but doesn't really like to do solos.
This was shot in the Austrian Alps. The beatboxer was the one who sang "It is well with my soul". The bass is Tim Foust (and you need to check out his collaboration with Peter Hollens singing "Misty Mountains" from "The Hobbit"). Your "favorite" tenor is Rob Lundquist. The high tenor is Austin Brown (check out Home Free's cover of "When a Man Loves a Woman" where Austin takes the lead and just kills it.) The beat boxer is Adam Rupp. The baritone (who didn't do a solo here) is Adam Chance, whom they call Chance to distinguish him from Adam Rupp (beatboxer). Chance covers the bass when Tim is singing lead. Chance does solos on their covers of "Folsom Prison Blues", "Blue Ain't Your Color", "Sea Shanty Medley" among others. In their latest, Chance has pretty much the entire lead. Really enjoying your reactions.
Actually, the tenor that came in, where you asked if it was the beatboxer, that was Austin, their first tenor. He was the central guy in "Man of constant sorrow". What was magical here was, the guy who lead the "It is well... With my soul..." is Adam Rupp, the beatboxer. You will rarely hear his voice, other than for rythm and effects, and it is SUCH a shame, because as we hear here, it's so clean and pure... In another song many recommended, Helplessly Hoping (what a wonderful performance that is!), he also sings (These two songs have absolutely no percussion, hence no beatboxing).
Great reaction! Subscribed. The tenor at the end of this song, Austin Brown, sang the lead in Man of Constant Sorrow. If you want to hear him tear it up in still another genre, check out his lead in their cover of When a Man Loves a Woman. The bass, Tim, who sang the first verse, covers five octaves beautifully. You can hear some of his higher range and each of them individually in American Pie with Don McLean. If you'd like to hear more harmonies, check out Seven Bridges Road or just about anything they sing, but especially Helplessly Hoping. It's stellar. #subscriptionsquad
Seven Bridges Road is one of their older recordings (with Adam's brother Chris) and is an excellent cover of one of the Eagles best recordings. Danielle Marie, I just heard one (actually several...) of your reviews this evening and subscribed. As a fairly long time musician and acapella singer (~50 years) I really appreciate a music critic/reviewer who can actually sing well. Some others have valid comments as well but that gives your observations just that much more credibility. If you had to pick a group to follow, I can't think of one much better than these guys. Sooo Fine!!! I'll be looking forward to your next review.
These guys mesh together perfectly!!! Rob's smooooooth voice. Love his voice. Austin's angelic voice!! Chances higher notes. Perfect!!!! And who knew Adam rupp could sing like an angel!!!? Would love to hear him sing more. Then there is THE KING OF THE BASS! He can go high on notes and the lowest of notes. These guys are just the best out there!!!!! Phenomenal!!! This should be the song you hear when getting into heaven.
Prior to Home Free's cover of this song, the last time I heard this song, it was brought to tears was my mom's funeral service in 2011. It was her favorite hymn. This version brought me a sense of peace and calm.
Danielle, Your channel has become my favorite vocal reaction channel, partly because I think we're into similar music (and theological persuasion), but also you clearly *love* music and appreciate excellence from a position of understanding...that is also sincerely passionate. Also, you have a fantastic voice and I love that you sing in your explanations. Love your stuff.
Thank you for your reaction. This is one of my favorite songs. This was filmed in the Austrian Alps. They are such wonderful singers and their harmonies are exceptional. Tim is their base, Chance is their baritone, Rob is their tenor, Austen is their high tenor and he has the long curly hair, and Adam is their beat boxer. Tonight he sang and he is also a tenor. and he had the ponytail tonight. I hope you will cover more of their songs.
It has been a dream of mine to sing worship music in an acapella group with other men who love God and want to share His love with the world. While that has not happened yet, I thoroughly enjoy these groups!!
Absolutely love this song by Home Free. This was filmed in the Austrian Alps when they were touring there. First singer was Tim Foust, the bass. He has a 5 octave range. 2nd singer was Rob Lundquist (glasses). He’s a wonderful tenor. 3rd singer was Adam Rupp, the beatboxer. He had the ponytail/bun in back and has a tenor voice although he rarely sings. Last singer was Austin Brown, (reddish hair) the high tenor who has a wonderful voice. Adam Chance (we call him Chance) is the baritone/bass who didn’t have a solo part in this but is a wonderful singer. Home Free was founded by the Rupp brothers in college in 2000. Adam Rupp(beatboxer) is the only original member left. The others joined in 2012 except for Adam Chance who joined in 2016 when Chris Rupp left the group to go solo. You will see Chris in earlier videos usually wearing a cowboy hat or baseball hat. Home Free is known for amazing harmonies. They can also be goofy too but always sound good. Try Helplessly Hoping, One Man Band, In the Blood, Country Roads. Good reaction!
You asked where they filmed this. They were on tour in Europe and when they saw this location in the Austrian Alps they got inspired and knew this was the place for How Great Thou Art. They called their crew and flew them to Austria just to film this. We are lucky and truly blessed that they were. The visuals are incredible and I love the little church on the hill.
1. Austrian Alps....been there, staggering....that little white chapel was inspiring 2. high tenor was Austin Brown....he performs solo too....when a man loves a woman....stc 3. Ron, ist tenor solo is opera trained.....sooooo smooth 4. Adam Rupp is the beatboxer ... singing here and is great
Hey! Love your reaction videos! As someone else stated...yes this was filmed in the Swiss Alps. (Austria) They are so, so good. Just humble, sweet guys who love singing together. Gotta love it! ♥️
Home Free as a group has been together for 20 years. But only one of the members singing here was with the original group. The beat boxer, Adam Rupp, on the far right with the ponytail is the only one from the original group that is still there. He and his brother, Chris Rupp- a baritone, formed the group with three others. Rob Lundquist, the second from the right with the beard, is what I would call a second tenor and is the next oldest member of the group. Tim Foust is in the middle and came in and out of the group once or twice as he filled in for the original bass, then took over a few years before they appeared on The Sing Off. Austin Brown, the long reddish hair first tenor, was found singing on a cruise ship that Home Free did a stint on. They brought him in to replace the original tenor when when that guy left. Adam Chance was the bass with a group called Street Corner Symphony, the group that placed second on the second season of The Sing Off and does the bass when Tim is singing the lead. He is the newest member and took Chris Rupp's place when Chris left the group to go solo. All in all there are 11 past members of this group plus the current 5. Home Free was elated that Adam didn't go to Pentatonix when their original bass, Avi Kaplan, left the group. And I understand they shot this video in the Swill Alps. Did you notice the little church in the foreground?
Tim Foust(the bass) has a full 5 octave range. A0 and up. The big guy, beat boxer were with the group the beginning. The three on the left have been added in the past 5 years. Left to right Adam Chance (newest baritone mid note1 low note) Austin (high tenor new in the past 8 years or so) tim foust (bass a0 maybe f0 low new in past 8 years) rob original member high tenor) adam rupp (original founding member with his brother, beatbox, mis baritone, tenor 1. Great harmonies can be heard in auld layng syne.
Thank you for this HF reaction. The group was started 20 yrs. ago but there is only one founding member left, Adam, the beatboxer. Of the other 4, Rob, the 2nd tenor joined in 2008' the bass, Tim. in 2010; Austin, the high tenor, in 2012 and Chance, the baritone/bass in 2016. so their sound is only about 8 yrs. old. Cheers!
The band was formed in 2000 by Chris & Adam Rupp. Adam is still the beat boxer. Rob joined in 2008, Tim in 2012 & Austin 2013 just before they won the Sing Off. Adam Chance joined when Chris Rupp left in 2016. Chris called Chance their secret weapon and certainly his abilities & range have allowed them to expand their repertoire. & I love his voice also. I can't pick a favourite as every time I hear one in a solo they are at that moment my favourite. If you want to see how well they blend, Helplessly Hoping by Crosby Stills & Nash is awesome, and being a singer you'll probably appreciate it even more than me.😁
You won't overlook the bass in HF....Tim is a beast...often takes lead, and hits you in the guts! The solo you heard was the beatboxer....Austin then took over, he is the High Tenor
Adam Rupp, the guy that did the harmonica and the group's human drum kit,, and the one with a ponytail, yep.. this is few of their videos where you can actually see him sing. Another video is "My Country 'Tis of Thee", and ooooh the harmonies of that one is really great as well
The one you said you didn't think you had heard was Austin Briwn who is the one doing most of the lead in Man...Sorrow. He is their super high tenor.. the beatbox is Adam Rupp who did the "it is well" part.
The blonde haired guy is Adam Rupp and he's the one that does the beat boxing. He's also one of the founding members of Home Free, along with his brother Chris. You've now started down a rabbit hole and you can't stop. Here's a few songs you should check out. Their cover of End of the Road by Boyz to Men. Then Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash. Then the live version of the Josh Turner song Your Man.
You commented on the bass starting the song. It made me think back to my youth. I believe it was George Beverly Shea who made this song so well known and popular. He sang for the Billy Graham Crusade and this was something of his trademark song. My point -- he had a rich, smooth bass voice, so for me hearing a bass start this song is perfectly natural.
Thank you for a great reaction, new viewer and new subscriber. Would love to hear more reactions to Home Free. Adam Rupp is the beatboxer and sang the "It is well" part. Austin Brown is there sky high tenor and sang the last part of the song. They were is Austria for an acapella festival and saw the Amazing scenery and decided to bring over their video crew and shoot this song. So glad they did, the Austrian Alps are Stunning !!!! This is the song that introduced me to Home Free a few years ago, and I was immediately hooked. This has always been one of my favorite hymns as well. Great reaction Danielle! Enjoy your journey!
Austin (the guy with shoulder length hair that is down) is a tenor of the group. Adam Rupp (the guy with long hair in a ponytail) is the beatboxer.
Your smile listening to the song makes my year .
Austin was 2012 .. and Chance was end of 2016
This is my favorite version of this hymn.
Their bass Tim Foust is a great lead singer, they say he can sing 5 octaves, I know he can sing into a tenor range as well and then goes super low too.
He can go low enough to blow speakers. The mark of a true bass. :)
5 plus
The one with the pony tail is the beatboxer Adam Rupp (...well with my soul).
The third soloist is Austin the lead tenor.
I'd like to see you react to them singing "Oh Holy Night" in the beautiful church.
Hands down... my favorite Home Free song!!!
Oh my God! This is so wonderful. Shoutout to that bass singer. So good!
Home free killed it. The best that song has ever been sung.
Awesome. For whatever reasons, it usually takes reactors quite some time to discover this song.
This was my Mom's favorite worship song. It brings back wonderful memories. Love your reactions Jen
I love watching a home fry be born.
I would recommend you to listen "One Man Band." It highlights each member rather well. #subscriptionsquad
Danielle,
Your channel has become my favorite vocal reaction channel, partly because I think we're into similar music (and theological persuasion), but also you clearly *love* music and appreciate excellence from a position of understanding...that is also sincerely passionate.
Absolutely one of their best! Gets you in your feels!
Coach, Pls react : When a man love a woman by Home Free.
#SubscriptionSquad
Thank you, Danielle, for introducing me to Home Free on your reviews. They are truly exquisite!
Your listening to the best arrangement and best version I have ever heard. It truly a cut above.
The harmonies were awesome. Beautiful the way they arranged the song!! Great reaction!!
I really enjoyed this, it definitely updated the song and made is a fresh. As a worship band member at my church I always enjoy songs reworked.
Just subbed, love Home Free! Their cover of Take Me Home, Country Roads is amazing!
They were in the Austrian Alps. So beautiful. That high tenor is Austin Brown. He is classicly trained in opera.
Adam Rupp is the beatboxer ... singing here and is great
She’s gonna like this!..
I laughed when you said you never heard Austin sing. The one you do not heard often is the one singing it is well, with my soul
Undoubtedly the most touching by Home Free
Hey! Love your reaction videos! As someone else stated...yes this was filmed in the Swiss Alps. (Austria) They are so, so good. Just humble, sweet guys who love singing together. Gotta love it! ♥️
Angelina has a rendition of this as well. If you enjoy a lower range, you will be quite surprised.
Did you notice the little church in the foreground?
loved the reaction, these guys are amazing, feel like you would enjoy their cover of Mayday
Thank you for an instructive and informational reaction.
Adam Rupp, the one who sang "It is well" is their beatboxer. The final soloist, Austin Brown, is their high tenor.
This song, and "As the Deer" are two of my favorite hymns!
Such a beautiful location to.choose and such a beautiful rendition of this beautiful Old hymn.
How great thou art Lord, Alleluiah! Thanks Coach 😁
Chance filling the deep harmonies really fills out the song and reinforces Tim's bass!
I joined my school choir and we actually sang this, i really enjoyed singing it :>
Thank you for this HF reaction. The group was started 20 yrs. ago but there is only one founding member left, Adam, the beatboxer. Of the other 4, Rob, the 2nd tenor joined in 2008' the bass, Tim. in 2010; Austin, the high tenor, in 2012 and Chance, the baritone/bass in 2016. so their sound is only about 8 yrs. old. Cheers!
You are great, thanks for all your reviews!! Greetings from Southern California.
I am thankful and grateful they honored God!
If you want to see how well they blend, Helplessly Hoping by Crosby Stills & Nash is awesome, and being a singer you'll probably appreciate it even more than me.😁
This Swedish hymn has never been sung better! They're just incredible!
Please go down the Home Free rabbit hole! :)
You won't overlook the bass in HF....Tim is a beast...often takes lead, and hits you in the guts! The solo you heard was the beatboxer....Austin then took over, he is the High Tenor
Adam Rupp is the one that does all the percussion and he was the one that sang all is well, he was standing next to Rob (glasses)
Don't know if anyone ever answered your question, but Tim said in an interview that they filmed it in The Swiss Alps with a drone.
Austin Brown is first Tenor, Rob with the beard is 2nd Tenor...Bass is Tim Foust, Baritone is Adam Chance (just Chance), Beatboxer is Adam Rupp...
🥰🥰🥰🥰...thanks coach..love yah..be safe always..
#subscriptionsquad
Yeah! Home Free! This is the best version of this hymn ever.❤️
Thank you thank you for your reactions you have an awesome spirit so glad I found you
Thank you for a great reaction, new viewer and new subscriber. Would love a reaction to "When A Man Loves a Woman" by Home Free.
