Hilux... only because i am saving for one. i like the Prado but as a pig farmer i aint putting fully grown pigs in that 😂🤣 i would be cleaning the interior for days
And the extra fuel consumption would be the aero from the back of the ute and the roof rack and light set up on the ute isn't as efficient as the Prado
Different vehicles for different purposes, I think. Depends on your needs. I had a dual cab Ute, and it spend the majority of its life with nothing in the tray. Bought a Prado next. No regrets. Love it. Comfort and ride quality is much better!
In Europe the LC Prado is crazy expensive due to emissions. But in UK they are selling a comercial van version with two seats, that allow it to have less taxes. And be a great platform to build an off-road rig.
Here in the Netherlands the prices for a Landcruiser/Prado range from 100k - 130k for the regular 5 door version to half of that for the 2 seater commercial van version. For 50k you could also buy a 2 seat 78 troop carrier with a 4 litre V6 petrol on 'business plates'
2 great vehicles from one awesome manufacturer. 2 legendary UA-camrs together. Can't go wrong! Both are made for different peoples suitability and whilst i own a Prado i'd also own a Hilux.
Both great vehicles, just sold my Prado sadly and got a new hilux with bigger towing ability. Like Ronny said it's not flash out of the box, but do some upgrades like tyres, suspension and fuel tank makes it a pretty good tourer.
What was truly awesome 👌to watch two best mates go out and check out each other's vehicles and have a good time :) I think you there is no winner because your vehicles suit your two different styles :)
Great review on the Prado & Hilux. I drove a brand new Prado GXL back to back with 200 on the same roads ( a great route consisting of 3 lane main roads to back lane ways , decenents off camber corners etc etc) and was blown away with the difference ! The wife wanted the Prado - me the 200. We were both overwhelmed with the 200 performance even though the test drive road should have favoured the Prado. The 200 is now parked in our garage and we love it even more !
Out of several Toys I've owned, worked HARD with, had tons of FUN with, my clear winners are: FJ40 / 1.979 w/ 4.2 liter (petrol, N.A.) i6, *FZJ 73 w/4.5 liter (petrol, N.A.motor), *Series 80 / 1.995 w/ 4.5 liter i6 (petrol N.A.) FZ-FE i6. *HiLux is pretty 'bulletproof' for farm work and *Prado, (series 150) is more comfy, versatile. ALL of the above, utterly reliable, given proper maintenance. NO hiccups whatsoever. Nissan Patrol cars from 1.980's to mid 1.990's are quite good too. Still keep my late Dad's K160, (restored), specially for sentimental reasons.
As an previous owner of a ute (Ranger), and current owner of a Prado, the choice depends on whether you want the separate ute load space or not. Value isn't a big a deal as said here, as Prado kicks off at the same price as the SR5, and you get a lot of kit in the GX. The beach issue....even I know you turn down towards the water, not up into soft sand Harry! The clincher for me...Prado rides a lot smoother, and soaks up long distances much better than a ute. Also, a Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician UA-camr said Prado and Landcruiser are built to Lexus standard, and Prado is made in Japan, and I think that shows.
Interesting 🧐, I have the Lexus 120 and would kill for a real Prado with a TD. Although I do love that Japanese built V8 and they are built to last. See many Lexus 120s down there??
Great video guys, can't wait to see the Positive pressure video for the dusting. All I did was use some pinch weld on both side of the tailgate. Problem solved.
both are wicked rigs but I've learned to love wagons. and having ridden in the prado over some not so great terrain I know how amazing Harry's car rides. got to give it to him on this one.
Great Video! We bought a used GX Prado. Benefits, extra fuel capacity, cheaper to setup for touring, better dust proofing, tighter turning circle, better ride, higher rated roof load, higher payload than a Hilux fitted with extra fuel tank & canopy. We have a fibreglass Roof Top tent. Downers. No rear diff lock, slightly less total storage. Only 2 of us & we have removed rear seats, upright fridge. Hilux would be better for family touring.
Great video!, two great cars, but I personally think the Prado is a better choice for all purpose touring / camping etc. Having a bit of luxury in your rig can make the entire experience so much better and enjoyable. People are waking up to the realisation that the Prado is a very worthwhile 4x4 to own, and a great alternative to the unnecessary cumbersome tank 4x4's such a the Patrols / Full size Land Cruisers etc. A Hilux also has a connection with being a work vehicle, work and play should never mix.
Niiiiice!!! So cool video!! From my side there is no winner. Each vehicle wins the other in different aspects. So the winner depends on the owner needs
Prado.. cus I love the Prado, nimble and a high commanding view of the road.. I wish I could get a 150 series.. But I'll keep my 120 around for a bit more.
While I'm in the USA (driving a Toyota Tundra), I do enjoy watching your videos for ideas from the mods you've done or gear you use that I might also be able to use. Of course, my camping is a bit different. I pull a travel trailer (have two, 19ft & 30ft, to choose from) to a general area (mildly off-road), setup a base camp, and off-road out from there.
Yeah we have some beautiful parts here in the US but it can’t come close to the beaches and bush down under. They can enjoy their nature in their trucks, there’s only a few places you can beach drive and camp like this and they are few and FAR between.
Who won. We the viewers won... Great video Harry and Ronny, and also a special mention to your camera crew. Putting up with your #hit all day. It comes down to price for most people. Both equally capable vehicles. You both won... Cheers Mark...
Lov'n the Bromance between you two it's beautiful, I'm tearing up right now 😢 Really pulled my heartstrings. Every hot blooded fella / 4WDriver enthusiast needs a solid Manship in their life whislt hitting the tracks. You blokes done Fraser (K'gari) Together yet? Do it if you haven't it would be content GOLD! Imagine the Sunrise on a Summer's first light / daybreak from Sandy Cape sipping Latte's together. Another storyboard moment.....You could look into each other's eyes after a hard day in the Central Lakes area back at your Beach camp watching the moon rise with a frosty Crafty in hand. Just an idea or two when you travel across from Inskip Point. Love these Vs series guys.
Best video yet, for me it’s the Prado. Sure I only occasionally carry tools and materials for work and like the turning radius/dust proof ness. However if I were a contractor/tradie the Hilux would dominate
So this is Hilux vs LandCruiser 😉 LC150 came from the LC100… Never understood why the Prado got this soft-off-roader stigma… I would love one… for now my Hilux Wagon will have to do…
My two favourite UA-camrs. Great video please do more. I think it was pretty much a tie. It's more a matter do you prefer a ute or wagon. Both very capable. I would take either one but can't afford it. A Pajero driver.
Great effort fella's had quite a few lol's with this one. + 1 for the Prado, have one myself and it's a great machine be it going to Coles or hitting the dirt. What surprised me the most was the rather large turning circle of the Hilux.
Owning a dual cab ranger here and a 200 wagon I can see both sides but I lean towards the Prado for the win here, as I lean towards the 200 out of my 2. Wagon security and dust sealing. Cheers Steve
My vote goes to the Hilux because a ute can carry more gear than a wagon. I've had 4wd wagons for years (Pajero, Patrol and Land Cruiser), with kids taking up the back seats you're only left with a small area in the back to pack your camping gear. The rest has to go on the roof, and that ends up throwing the centre of gravity way off (and exposes it all to dust and weather). I've just bought my first ute and plan to set it up pretty much the same as Ronny's Hilux. It'll be interesting to see how it works out for us.
Looking forward to this. Mostly because ronnie and Harry have a great chemistry on camera. Toyota's are all over UA-cam but I'll watch these two compare potatoe chips for a giggle and still learn something about different chippies. 🤙
Quick tip Ronny to open the chair with one hand . Use one foot to step on one side of the legs and push with your hand to open it fast . And the same to close it
I have both. A ute and a wagon. They both serve a purpose. I love driving my pickup, but if I want to have a great place to live, I have to tow the trailer. With the wagon, I'll just climb in the back, but can't go anywhere once setup. If I could have a mashup of both, I would. Until then, I think Harry wins for convenience and overall comfort here. Sorry Ronny!🤠
Great banter lads! This was a good exercise for people with different budgets and vehicle requirements but it’d have to be a hilux for me as I have kids with dirt bikes. Good episode guys 👍🏼
I went and bought a brand new prado last year 2.8 D and love it to bits, its a great comfortable ride, easy to drive and manoeuvre and very capable. I had considered the hilux but it only comes with a 2.4 D here not thr 2.8 plus as it comes under a work truck category means you have get it MOT'd every year after the first 2 years apposed to once every other year after thr first 3 years, so that was a no brainer. But I do like the hilux a lot as well, both really nice rigs....I am very glad I got the prado though.
Wikid rigs lads. I owned a 19 gxl Prado and was the most comfiest, awesome offroader (until i wrote it off) and now im going to jump into a 21 sr5. Toyota mske some wikid rigs 🤙🤙
Funny episode! Comparing the 2 builds I prefer the prado. If I was buying new leaning to hilux cheaper to buy and the potential of proper camping canopy set up.
WHO WON and WHY??
Hilux... only because i am saving for one. i like the Prado but as a pig farmer i aint putting fully grown pigs in that 😂🤣 i would be cleaning the interior for days
Haven’t seen the video yet but I’m going to take a stab and say Hilux because of the +- 900kg - 1000kg load capacity
Coils > Leaf springs so Prado wins for me
And the extra fuel consumption would be the aero from the back of the ute and the roof rack and light set up on the ute isn't as efficient as the Prado
It say vehicles are pretty even over the coarse.. but Harry did do the two handed grab on the awning.. so Rhona brought it home on the over all
Good to see you 2 together on a outing / challenge. Think the Toyota won. 😜
👍❤️
Brilliant guys. The ultimate collab, the ultimate comparison, hugely interesting. Harry & Ronny, the best youtubers. What a treat.
Harry wins for picking up the groceries, while Ronny wins for picking up the smoko !
Both bloody good Rigs 👍👍
Different vehicles for different purposes, I think. Depends on your needs. I had a dual cab Ute, and it spend the majority of its life with nothing in the tray. Bought a Prado next. No regrets. Love it. Comfort and ride quality is much better!
These Prado's aren't too bad. They do the Landcruiser name well.
In Europe the LC Prado is crazy expensive due to emissions. But in UK they are selling a comercial van version with two seats, that allow it to have less taxes. And be a great platform to build an off-road rig.
That's awesome mate. What do they call it? I'll check it out.
Found it. LandCruiser Utility Commercial. LandCruiser Amazon.
How do they call this model Prado over here? Only know about the older Prados.
Ronny & Harry collab .. the winner is always us , the audience .. many good laughs in this one guys
Glad you're back and healthy Harry! Definitely contribute a lot to the show and are a ripper bloke.
Love a Fortuner vs Hilux video Ronny!!
2 great vehicles from one awesome manufacturer. 2 legendary UA-camrs together. Can't go wrong!
Both are made for different peoples suitability and whilst i own a Prado i'd also own a Hilux.
Prado hands down! Love my Prado Kakadu! I tell my kids the centre console fridge is "the happy box"!
Both great vehicles, just sold my Prado sadly and got a new hilux with bigger towing ability. Like Ronny said it's not flash out of the box, but do some upgrades like tyres, suspension and fuel tank makes it a pretty good tourer.
How, I’ve heard more of you Aussies saying about towing capacity but in Europe we can tow 3.5 tonnes with the prado
@@jamiemagdeleyns9152
Yeah I think they’ve just raised the towing capacity to 3 ton over here.
Cheers mate
Prado all day long! That’s why I use one for my channel
Awesome honest opinions and reviews on both vehicles. Both are extremely capable vehicles with the appropriate modifications and drivers.
What was truly awesome 👌to watch two best mates go out and check out each other's vehicles and have a good time :) I think you there is no winner because your vehicles suit your two different styles :)
Harry, it’s not smoke it’s the smell of adventure.
I'd pay good money for the smell of burnt gidyea or similar in my car.
Great work with this one boy's, was a good laugh. Prado for the win, wagon is sealed. No need to spend more on a canopy or new tray setup.
Nah you just spend way more on the prado to begin with. Sealing kits aren't expensive.
Great review on the Prado & Hilux. I drove a brand new Prado GXL back to back with 200 on the same roads ( a great route consisting of 3 lane main roads to back lane ways , decenents off camber corners etc etc) and was blown away with the difference ! The 200 is now parked in our garage and we love it even more !
Both great rigs and very capable and reliable 4wds to explore the amazing Aussie landscape.

Harry and you should make more videos together
Great video guys, can't wait to see the Positive pressure video for the dusting. All I did was use some pinch weld on both side of the tailgate. Problem solved.
Give me a Prado anyday. Better equipped, more comfortable, more stylish. I think hilux is a tradies vehicle really.
Fantastic video! The winners are us, the viewers
This is the best video you have done. Best Sunday morning. I’m going to watch it again. Thanks guys
both are wicked rigs but I've learned to love wagons. and having ridden in the prado over some not so great terrain I know how amazing Harry's car rides. got to give it to him on this one.
This was brilliant, you two need to do more together
That was so fun to watch. thanks guys
It doesn't matter who won - the banter was brilliant 👍
Great video guys you got him in the end Ronny. "Yeah old two hands" might have to start calling Harry Heath Ledger.
Quality time, great way to start a morning. Greetings from Europe!
Loved this episode! So awesome seeing you guys in a video together, hopefully more to come!
Mate, you, Harry, the comp between the boys..... love it.let Harry no we will by the cook book...
Agree with Harry on the 360 camera it does make a huge difference for off-roading great video lads
Ronny & Harry, that was bloody hilarious the whole way through. The argy bargy at the start was a crackin way to kick off the vid.
Great Video! We bought a used GX Prado. Prado for sure, but i love both 😍

Prado.. cus I love the Prado, nimble and a high commanding view of the road.. I wish I could get a 150 series.. But I'll keep my 120 around for a bit more.

Fun to watch… 😂 both are quite knowledgeable on their craft
One the most enjoyable vids of watched on your channel. Love the banter.

I reckon it’s equal, based on this one trip. Great rigs, good viewing as always.
Had to say your intro was great. Love your channel.
That was halarious. And the viewers are the winners
Harry put two hands to his awning , Hi-Lux got the storage win , both Toyota’s so both a winner to me 😎👍🍻
Top show!! You two bounce off each other so well. Cheers guys
Both great options. Personal preference wins. But would be good to understand total build cost on both to get an idea of total cost.
That drone footage of the cork screw was awesome to watch

Best video yet, for me it’s the Prado. Sure I only occasionally carry tools and materials for work and like the turning radius/dust proof ness. However if I were a contractor/tradie the Hilux would dominate

So this is Hilux vs LandCruiser 😉
LC150 came from the LC100…

Really digging the look of the front bar on the Prado. Blends really well with the grill and the headlights.
The banter in this episode wins hands down 🤣

🤔 I think there’s parody material here.

As a Hilux owner that used to have a Prado, I'd choose the Prado. However, I don't like diesels, so my best option would be an imported 4Runner.
Loved this collab! This video and Harry’s Modified episode were great 👍 Lots of laughs and a fun comparison.
One of your best Ronnie.
Harry and the Prado (but only because I’m fortunate enough to also own one 🤣)! Great one guys, keep up the good work!

Harry and the Prado, more useable, daily drivable package overall in my opinion.
