- Adding a Pokemon character to Smash Bros certainly isn't anything new, for Pokemon is the franchise that has had the most consistent amount of newcomers per Smash release. Still, it doesn't stop people like me from talking about other great inclusions they could make from the franchise, and this one is one of my personal favorites. Prepare yourself, this one is a doozy...or should I say "nine"?

Eevee feels like a must for the next Smash Bros.
That was a really well made video, serious props on it. You somehow managed to balance 9 characters efficiently between each other without making anything defeat the purpose of anything else like Eevee having a purpose when you could have just had it be hands down weaker and called it a day, they are all unique but are still balanced to actually have a favourite based on just preference. The mechanic ideas were great too, Vaporeons healing for example was a great transferal of the source material. The poses provided were ridiculously top notch too and all this just amounts to a tremendous moveset. It’s really good so again really great job.
If the Eeveelutions get useful passives, then Eevee should get a slight all around buff if it doesn't evolve. That would give Eevee more use, since the Eeveelutions' passives made Eevee feel less worth holding onto. It also makes sense contextually. Eevee has a Z move where it harnesses a bit of every Eeveelutions' power to buff itself all around, and it could also reference the general improvement of leveling up.
This is probably the best Eevee moveset I've ever seen, however, I'm a bit torn on trying to make Eevee just as viable as the other evolutions. Unlike Pyra/Mythra, Pokemon Trainer, or how Zelda/Shiek used to be, Eevee has to earn the experience in order to change first, and after that, you're locked into the chosen evolution. I can understand wanting to make Eevee good on it's own, but if you have to earn enough experience in order to evolve in the first place, it should probably feel like a reward as a direct upgrade in the process. I think making Eevee a bit balanced, but the evolutions really strong, but you have to evolve each stock could work. Kinda like Eevee is an install character, but with 8 different installs to play around with. Sure it's not canonically accurate, but it would make the Eeveelutions feel like more of a reward, plus it could allow the player to pick multiple eeveelutions per match instead of being locked to one, allowing them to adapt more on the fly. It would kinda suck to make the wrong choice, and be stuck with it for the rest of the match, or maybe you evolve into the wrong eeveelution by accident, and now you're punished for it for the rest of the match. Otherwise, I can't really think of too many faults with this moveset. All of the different moves, abilities, and stats given to each Pokemon make sense, and seem fun and balanced pretty well.
Given that evolutions in Pokemon are permanent, with the exception of super forms like Mega Evolution and Dyna/Gigantamax, would that mean that you'd be canonically using a different Eevee if you evolve yours in the previous match?
Gary's starter in the anime was Squirtle, not Eevee.

While the concept of each Eeveeloution having a special character specific trait is a very cool idea, I think having that on top of the evolution mechanic would make Eevee as a character feel "bloated" if that makes sense.
Yeah realistically, if Eevee did actually get into Smash, I can imagine the developers going the classic route and limit Eevee's evolutions to the Kanto trio to make it easier on development. But hey, a person can certainly dream.

It's a bit overwhelming, yes. I think it's actually likely Sakurai would add Eevee, given the mascot status she has achieved. And if that happens, I think Sakurai is the type of guy that actually goes all the way adding all eeveelutions - given his dedication to both reflect the lore/style of the original game and provide something new to smash. I think the evolution must be a one-timer per game, as suggested here, but the eeveelutions CANNOT be THAT different as suggested here. One thing is programming, the other is the complexity for gamers - it will scare casual users and be terribly unpredictable to opponents. I believe the moves across all characters need to be as similar as possible, but their effects/animations must be slightly different (similar kicks/projectiles/etc but but with different electric/water/fire/etc effects), as well as movement speed/stats/etc change - a type of mix of Pyra/Mythra and Shulk/Monado - but more balanced and taken diversified. I can actually see that happening, and would love it!!
Isn't Vaporeon's Fighter Ability literally just Orcane's from Rivals of Aether?
It is a reference to that, yes. It's done slightly differently, but I felt it appropriate to show appreciation to the fact that Vaporeon is essentially Orcane's predecessor.

I love this! Tho if anyone here has played the game rivals of Aether (smash bros, but with in depth characters 😂) this iteration makes perfect sense :3

How about when she uses pin missile she shoots three spikes foward that home in on the opponent, like you said the missiles will get weaker the further they go.
I'd main her if this was her moveset in Smash 6 an all rounder like this sounds like the fighter for me

How about Espeon have this unique trait instead of umbreon, you DID say that Espeons playstyle was focused on mix-ups so i think this would further cement her role
