A few thoughts: The ideal tool for working on brake line connection is a flare nut wrench...a specialized type of open end wrench. It provides an addition half face to better secure the nut during torquing. Use a clean dedicated turkey baster and suck out as much of the brake fluid from the reservoir as possible, before removing to reduce leakage. It is well advised to prime a new master cylinder, before installing. EricTheCarGuy channel has an excellent video on how and why to do it. Otherwise, this is a very good video on the replacement procedure. These Corollas are as bullet proof as any car can be and its well worth investing as much time and money, as needed to keep them on the road. No better used car can be had for reliability. None
trying install a brake master cylinder in my 2005 corolla. Bench bled the cylinder, but I have a lousy , brake fitting on my master cylinder brake line. By the time I bled the cylinder and then installed it, I lost most of the fluid. I will just bleed the brakes one by one and hope for the best after finally getting the fitting to screw in. I bled the cylinder in the garage . One hose popped out and it shot fluid out the port across the garage, so I know the new cylinder works : )
I was here two years ago and kind of don't remember seeing this : ) . I replaced the master cylinder in my father's 1996 toyota corolla. Wasn't sure that was why the pedal was soft, but that was one definite problem. My 2005 corolla has 177000 and the brakes are soft, so I figure this is the problem with the 2005 corolla too. Doing some brake bleeding first though.
Yeah bleed it first until you have fresh fluid all the way. If the seals are bad in the master it should leak past the plunger and your pedal will slowly go to the floor as you’re holding it.
You can most jobs on these cars with 8, 10, 12, and 14mm wrenches and sockets. The only thing I’d say is that on the brake lines make sure to either use a brake like wrench or a high quality 10mm wrench that fits well. It’s really easy to destroy those fittings if the wrench slips.
Seals go bad inside and brakes don't work properly. Pedal will slowly fall to the floor as you are sitting at a stop light because the seals are letting brake fluid pass to the other side of the piston.
+Taylor Thorne I didn't bench bleed the first time I put it on, then realized I missed a step, and went back and did it and saw a ton of air coming out of the master cylinder (even after having bled the brakes). I think this step is crucial, and it is specifically mentioned in the repair manual.
Julie Levine Pedal sinking to the floor at stoplights. Means that brake fluid is able to pass by the seals on the piston, eventually would have no brakes.
Why would there be the need for a gasket between the vaccum booster and MC? There would not be any fluid at this juncture. All fluid remains in the MC and/or brake lines. I don't get why Toyota would have put a gasket there in the first place??? It is a mechanical coupling of the two parts to keep the MC in line with the booster's rod that actuates the MC piston.

i like using a syringe better than a basted. it seems to not drip as much.

A good time spray out and clean your throttle assembly while the air box is off.

shouldn’t you empty the reservoir as much as possible before removing it, or does it not matter much as far as how much spills?
Yeah you should minimize spills if possible. If it spills just clean up the best you can.
I only did this once or twice. I typically stick a q-tip into the b.rake lines to minimize fluid loss
My method wasn't going to work. No plastic reservoir with the cylinder. I am going to do it your way. Thanks
brake master cylinder and Quote master cylinder are same thing or different I don't know about cars
What size wrenches for this job if I don't have a whole set?

why u have to change it?
Seals go bad inside and brakes don't work properly. Pedal will slowly fall to the floor as you are sitting at a stop light because the seals are letting brake fluid pass to the other side of the piston.
@@MotherlodeMotors can it also make the whole power in the car to go lower and even make the headlights go dimmer during braking? -____- (without Abs)
@@viisteist1363 sounds like you have either an electrical problem or a vacuum problem. Make sure your alternator is charging properly.
you didn't take the rags out or reconnect the fluid level sensor or the intake air temp sensor
or the air filter clamp
Thus the name Cheap A** Garage!
very good
Is this for the Japanese car or the North America one?
soolly 357 Wouldn't the brake master be on the other side of the car if it was JDM?
no bench bleeding it first?
If you know how to do it then go for it, too messy for me.

+ownageelite It is faster if you know how to do it but it works either way. It does take a long time to bleed if you don't.
No need for thAt becAuse you still.bleed the brAkes anyways
Damn i wish my 91 corolla was in that nice of shape very jealous
a great thank you . good job
what year is your corolla? im having problems with my corolla 2015
distribuidora siba 1991

Claude Albertario no idea, corrosion? Keep contaminants out?
and both rear cylinders
Toyota dealer told me that I have pay $ 1500 dollars
My car is Toyo corolla 2002
Have u done it yet?
They just told me that today if it's the booster and I'm like fuck no.
Flare wrench!!!
Hi
You’re fucking fast 💨
I think you forgot one step an that is you have to bleed master cilinder
You can do it after you install it on the car.
that is why i bench bleed the cylinder first
Brian Westmoreland how do you bench bleed the cylinder?
It’s only good to cross thread things on other people’s cars. Lol
man thanks God I didn't pay it
looks like made in china
