Marco Pierre White and apprentice Gordon Ramsay

- I find Marco Pierre White is an interesting character. In this video from 1998, as a 37 year old he seems very calm, mellow, and not so easily rattled, a stark contrast to his former apprentice Gordon Ramsay.
Of course this was one year before he was about to retire from cooking in 1999, and throw away all his stars. Interesting for him to say that "...retaining Michelin stars is playing a defending game..."
This video explains why Gordon calls people 'big boy' a lot.

Marco is a scarily calm man. He's more terrifying than gordon screaming.
He was known for raising hell and screaming...where do you think Gordon learned it from?
He once flung scalding risotto in Mario Batali's face 😂 then Mario dumped salt in all the stocks and sauces before walking out hahahaha. Classic.
He has a serial killer vibe in this interview--like he's explaining this to someone as he dissects them
I’m Scottish, I completely agree! calm is scary. I don’t give a fuck for the angry man
Its like he's autistic or something.
I like how you can see that Gordon hasn’t perfected the art of anger and insults yet

He had not yet fully given in to hate, there was compassion still in him and his apprentices could all feel it still. Now he gains strength from his rage, and none dare oppose his power.

'Big boy' is not exclusive to Raymond Blanc or Marco, it's an English colloquialism.

+vee tour Always two there are, no more no less. A master and an apprentice.
+Max White THIS. Also +vee tour Marco legit comes off as a closet serial killer
+vee tour That is a perfect analogy for sure they really do seem like Sith Lords vying for Dark Lord of the Sith. Not only are they both comrades in the same field as one another they are rivals at the same time trying to become more powerful than one another with the Master knowing his succession is coming soon.
good point
The best part of this clip is the fact that, in his autobiography, Marco says that before this Gordon had never fished a day in his life, but he had told the producers of Boiling Point that he and Marco went fishing every week because he thought it would make him look cooler. When Marco politely reminded him that that wasn't true, Gordon basically said "I know, but I've already told them, and they wanna film us go fishing". Marco begrudgingly went along with it, and you can tell Gordon hasn't a single clue what he's doing.

Marco's a real one doing that for Gordon
