After many nights of driving alone in the dark back roads of New Jersey listening to Key Lime Pie all those years ago, I still get this song stuck in my head. I just discovered this performance of it and all the memories came flooding back. It was the soundtrack to the summer after my senior year in high school and I understand it more than I ever did before.
Funny how even when we were barely old enough to understand just how poignant this song was we could still feel it…. I don’t know if life taught me to feel that bittersweet appreciation for the unrequited and unlived love affair or was it this song that taught me? 💔❤️🩹
I've wasted time reading novels that could never be this effective. Films can't do it. A near enough perfect song can. .... Magnificent work.
Very well said
great description!
I concur. No better articulation of love.
Probably my favorite song of all time
Same
Thought I was the only one
Shelly Belly you’re not alone.
It is! It really is.
Definitely not alone
One of the most romantic songs ever. Decisively on-sided and unrequited. But such is romantic literature.
And we are rotting like a fruit underneath a rusting roof
. We dream our dreams and sing our songs of the fecundity. Of life and love
indeed we do.
Agreed. It's on the first mix I made my (now) wife. 20 + years of listening to this song, I still get chills every time.
With corn... Classic!
What a beautiful song. Still ,after all these years.
The genius of lowery
One of my all time favourite songs.
amazing song, never tire of it
Having my tea at 4 to this. Thank you CVB.
This song always touches my heart. I’ve loved it since high school.
Oh me too. Always gets me. You go through several emotions listening to it.
This brilliant song works on so many different levels.
Such an amazing bit of songwriting, and leaves me with a sadness whose source I can't identify.
This is just amazing music; no other words to describe it. Chills and emotion ....
Among the finest songs ever written.
Wow.Such an amazing performance. Love this song soooo much
I interviewed these guys for my college paper when they toured this album. David Lowry described how all his songs are short stories. What a beautiful example this is of that. I ended up talking to Victor for an hour about playing bass and life in general until their manager came in and told him it was time to do the show. What an incredible night! Still my favorite era from one of my favorite bands.
Absolutely magical performance!
I've always loved the version on Key Lime Pie. This version turns down the volume and plays better dramatically. I love it.
such an elegant, beautiful song...
perfect word to describe this song.... elegant Just so beautiful
A beautifully written pep rally song for the lonesome if there ever was one 🐛
Back when mix tapes where shares and mailed between my girlfriend and I (going to different colleges) this was always at the top. Heavy memories
Hauntingly beautiful...thanks
i keep going back to this song. It's just so good. Thanks to all these people ! We love you and appreciate you
Great band, wonderful song and an epic performance of this classic

Such a beautiful song.
Beautiful every time...
Man. This is one of the few times where they didn't get worse as they got older. So good.
My favorite song.
Great tune!
The depth and layers of the music equals the lyrics. It just builds and builds.

Brilliant

Gorgeous!
fuck, man, that's an amazing recording of this song
The song feels like it almost has a weight to it, absolutely moves me everytime.
Unrequited love can be true love too.
Wow
with corn
Can't believe that song came out in 2010 where have I been on another planet. If you want to hear cracker on the radio you have to request it I don't even know if they have their albums. Now I have seen a lot of these guys on campervan Beethoven playing with cracker over the years in concert. Totally amazing song such a rich sound without even drums
1989
More proof that men are the most epic romance writers.
