I've literally spent all my spare time over the last 3 days driving 90s f1 cars in vr on ams2. Had an amazing race in the v10 gen 2 round the old spa. Qualified 3rd got into the lead with Hakkinen and Schumacher RIGHT behind me. When the tyres started going off I spun and dropped back to 6th and went for the undercut and managed to get back to second after an epic 3 lap battle at the end with schumacher.
I've been saying for a couple of years now that this sim is amazing. Once all the cars get the 1.6 update it will be the best sim out there in my opinion
@@BOBOTHEBANDIT Its not the most realistic but I think it's easily the most fun. The ai is actually amazing on most tracks so you can get a really decent race without them doing anything too "ai"ish like turning in on you or being really slow in certain corners. The handling is the perfect balance between real and fun. A bit slidey but still I dont feel like it's too much that it takes to out of it and the thing that tops it all off is the visuals in vr are just unbeatable at the moment.
Those Formula Hi-Techs Reiza put out might be some of the greatest DLC's in all of sim racing. IMG did a stunning job with the skin sets, and the fact we have era correct circuits too just adds to the immersion.
If you ever run longer races in AMS2 in VR, try CrewChief's voice recognition. You can ask for damage reports, the gap, pit info, etc. Along with the kind of cinematic AI in AMS2 you really feel like you're in the race, not just the car.
Love sim racing in VR with crew chief and without any HUD I find I completely lose myself when playing RF2 online, or if I want to race AI there is something magical about racing AMS2’s F1 cars (with the complete season skin mods) being told about Senna or Schumacher etc by crew chief Great video
Kinda nuts that even back then... there was DRS! Depending on the car, it would lift the entire car, or just drop the back end, just to disrupt the diffuser and increase the top speed!
Great video Mike. Glad to see you've finally crossed over into the VR world. I'm warning you though, it's gonna be *VERY* hard to go back to 2D now that you've gotten your taste of VR. And by the way, do yourself a favor and go try out the SRP mod for AC in VR. You'll thank me later :)
Hand on Heart, it's just so good to see you back in the world of VR, Mr SimRacing604. I guess the exciting thing for you now (& us subscribers), is the announcement that VR will be automatically implemented within the new AC EVO - AND IMPORTANTLY - that it's not going to be an UNREAL 5 engine game. But I do love that gaming engine for VR FFShooters, but doesn't seem to suit Sim-Racing as much in VR ?
Ha! I love this track with the Formula tech gen 2! It's so good in VR. You like this new headset? I'm running a Varjo Aero and seems pretty darn good. Thanks Mike!
@@miker0n327 thanks for watching. And yeah, I could hardly love the headset more. It continues to reset my brain in terms of what’s enjoyable in sim racing.
@@SimRacing604 I'm the same way. Not the fastest, but wow, i really enjoy just getting in different cars on different tracks just to experience it in VR.
Try the Group C for a different experience, you'll need to use H Shifter and clutch which makes it even harder. There's also a mod that gives you the Mazda 787B which is lovely to drive
@@SimRacing604 Probably not one for a vid unless you want a longer one, but taking the Austin Healey from the 60s touring car pack around Abulz' Targa Florio is a journey you won't forget. If you go round at dawn or sunrise the way the sunlight glints off the chrome steering wheel made me giggle like a child when I first saw it. One lap might take 45 minutes but you will feel like doing another one. Racing the train on the long straight near the end is so cool.

I played a bit of PC2 yesterday for the first time in ages… I still love RF2 AC ACC AMS2 more, but I agree there is a LOT of stuff PC2 did very well, despite all of its failings! For me, PC2 is a marmite sim (some car & tracks are brilliant, others… aren’t!)
Is it me or it looks like the driver's view is offset to the left somehow?! The antenna on the nose of the car should be aligned with the center of the "windshield". How is the view in VR?
souljeah - the fuller explanation is that you see it perfectly centered while in VR. But if you recorded it like that, then it would have to be a video you could only see back IN 3D (just like a 3D Movie). So the recording software is forced to pick either the left or right eye only for 2D, and defaults to the left one. At least that's how all my video's looked as well

AMS2 old school open wheelers with VR and bass shakers is the most immersive experience in simracing imo (besides motion of course).
Cant wait for 1.6 update it is going to be a real reboot of the game with physics finally sorted out, new MP, better AI and new UI

my advice for taking a car out in VR is the VRC Auriel on long beach

So realistic. The new VR headset you have does look amazing. God bless and race on 🏁

Really love these cars in VR and in AMS2. Win win combination.
