    The best COD game of the last 5 years IMO. What a slammer. 80s theme, Campaign was great, MP was classic COD, and Zombies was awesome. Too bad we didn't get a true year 2 for this one.

So for me to be able to come home and enjoy a game of zombies without having to grind for hours to figure out how to do everything was great. I loved that I could have fun and kill zombies without being extremely frustrated because “I don’t have time to get better.” It was a lot of fun for me. Maybe they can add a difficulty setting like in BO2 where you have easy for casual players and hard for streamers. Make the Easter Egg on the hard one so it’s more fun to search for.

    I actually quite like the out of game progression of Cold War, it gave a good reward for high rounding - the ability to high round that little bit easier next time now that you can upgrade a perk or skill. One thing I will say though, there should be a hardcore option for the next installment; this hardcore mode should start you off with a set default weapon and have all perks set to like level 2 etc etc... Hardcore mode should also be the default for the leaderboards and scoreboards, whereas normal should be for casual fun or players who enjoy the newer features

    I was there Day 1 for Zombies (literally… I finished the WAW campaign on launch day), and I’ll say that THIS game made me a zombies fan. I loved WAW zombies, liked BO 1 a lot, then Tranzit and Die Rise completely killed it for me. I checked back in for Shadows of Evil and thought it was obtuse, frustrating, and confusing. I bought Cold War close to a month ago on sale, booted up Zombies and just couldn’t put it down. Was it easy, sure, but it was what I needed to reignite the zombies fan in me. I loved that Outbreak and Onslaught were cool changes of pace from the round based maps. Also, the progression system gave me that extra incentive to play a lot more, and for once in my life, actually get good at zombies. So much so…. that I took my newfound talents to BO3 and pretty much never looked back. I finally understood the complexity and sense of adventure that BO2 and 3 maps offered. Cold War took me from dying on Round 7 saying “fuck this Beast bullshit” on SOE, to setting up PaP by round 6, then training zombies like a champ for hours. I’ll forever be indebted to Cold War Zombies for making me a believer.

      @Ermac43 Рік тому +8

      That's awesome to hear and is exactly why Cold War exists. The entire reason why Cold War is the way it is gameplay and easter egg wise is because of the ever increasing complexity of the past titles, which lead to an eventual crash in BO4 where lots of people were just fed up with the unneeded complexity. I love Cold War and I love BO3 for their own reasons entirely so its cool to see someone get back into Zombies through Cold War when they wouldn't have otherwise through high barrier-to-entry games like BO3 or BO4.

    • @tycodapsycho5581
      @tycodapsycho5581 Рік тому +5

      I liked the out of game progression system too. It’s smart because it gives players another reason to play zombies along with trying out different different guns to get the zombie camos for it. The fact that you can use the zombies camos in Warzone on Rebirth Island was dope as hell too.

      @@Dylan-np4oy What’s funny is that once I played BO3 again I only went back to Cold War once in a blue moon. I feel like zombies always catered to and innovated based on what the Hardcore fans want, and I was gradually became more of an MP guy during that time. Zombies didn’t just feel difficult, but it felt difficult in two different ways simultaneously. The survival element was hard enough for me, but then the game asks you to go on this puzzle solving adventure. I was NOT used to this dynamic when BO3 was fresh, and it was overwhelming. But Cold War had enough forgiving mechanics and level design that I could finally get good at simply surviving. Once the movement/survival stuff became muscle memory, I could focus way more on the tasks at hand, at it all finally clicked. IMO BO3 has the best zombies experience, but Cold War is hands down the best way to introduce Zombies to someone.

    This was actually my very first cod. I never played as a kid, got into it now as a young adult. In spite of its problems, it’s now one of my all time favorite games ever. I loved the campaign (especially since I didn’t know about the whole BO1 mind twisting stuff), multiplayer I continue to insist is a lot of fun despite it getting so much hate, and zombies was incredible, even if clearly rushed. Treyarch put so much passion into this game and it really shows, despite the time crunch. This one game led me to go back and buy every previous black ops on sale to learn all about zombies as an entire series and have no regrets. I have both mastery camos on Cold War (nearly every weapon including DLC, just 3 more to go) and have almost finished Zombies Dark matter on BO4 and am master prestige 250 there.
    However after Vangaurd came out (which i dont think is nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be but is still CLEARLY not a great entry) and, while I find it to be casual fun, didn’t quite hit the same marks I mostly stuck with CW. I never bought MW2, it doesn’t look interesting enough, didn’t have the most fun on the trial days, and no zombies. Maybe when its really cheap for a campaign run (i borrowed MW19 to play the campaign and its campaign was also awesome), but I want to avoid being caught up in the COD cycle. I’ll probably keep buying the Treyarch entries and skip the rest.

    In terms of operators, I think “zombie exclusive” operators would work well. You have a certain selection of operators that you can use in zombies- maybe the four canon crew members at first with certain fun unlockable or purchasable ones coming later (think the zombie from AW or Maxis/Ravenov). This solves the generic operator problem for the maps and storyline (giving us more story and more time with a new crew to hopefully enjoy them like the OGs, but also allows for the use of these operators in Warzone and MP, allowing for a curated zombies experience while keeping the MP and Warzone experience for every player.

    honestly the fact that there are fewer setpieces in the campaign and more opportunities to engage with the characters at your own pace between missions was a huge boon for the campaign imo, it fully accomodates the player that wants to blast through in a sitting and the player who wants to indulge in the character interactions
    it was probably a happy accident but replaying some of the older campaigns recently has me remembering how tedious it can be sitting around as things happen in front of, to and around you and its not something i can always set my patience aside for personally

    • @Ermac43
      @Ermac43 Рік тому

      I think on paper I see where you're coming from, the problem is though is that nothing ever punishes you. After playing some matches of Cold War MP then switching off to another COD's MP you are immediately reminded that you have to go and earn the streak you want rather than its just going to happen either way making it less rewarding when you just randomly get a streak. Its definitely more casual leaning which isn't a bad thing, but it hurts the match by match experience because you get in knowing you're going to get your big streaks 99% of the time and there isn't much that is going to change that.

    Meanwhile, the developers who actually did have the time and man power can't fucking get it right and fuck up at almost every turn, embarrassing themselves in the process.

    I was just so disgusted by the lack of empathy the CoD community’s showing when this game first release, everyone was calling this game a scam, the fact that it’s on the old engine got it a lotta hate, ppl are saying Treyarch has fallen, and constantly comparing it to MW19 to shit on the game, I know it’s a fact that MW19 is more complete and overall “better” in a technical point of view, but that’s because IW have all the time they need and wasn’t pulled away to assist other projects like Treyarch did, Treyarch was brought on board to so many projects along with their own game development, it’s a miracle this game even came out, and in that whole year as well you just constantly heard ppl saying they’re waiting for IW to bring them the next MW, saying that they’re the only competent devs of CoD, I always get so triggered by these comments, ppl who say these things have no idea what they’re talking about, these statement, I’m getting a little radical here, but they are simply wrong, it’s not a matter of opinion or preference when your opinions are just wrong, and just to be clear I’m not an IW hater at all, I not saying they’re incompetent devs, I actively enjoy MWII and am excited for the upcoming season, I enjoyed MW19 when it’s around as well, I’m just so sick of Treyarch getting so many unreasonable criticism, I feel like the whole thing is just wrong

    29:12 Not sure about all of the possible reasons for the scar. But for two of them Adler says he got the scar in ‘73 or ‘75, so he wouldn’t have had it then. But then again one of the other ones says he got it as a young man. He was born in 37’ so if he got it before he was say 21, then a scar that’s developed like the one he has makes more sense for being over 20 years old as opposed to 6-10 with the other years.

Both main characters have the information needed to find the location of the main villain. Mason knows what the numbers mean and where to go to stop dragovich and stop Nova 6 from being released, and belle knows the location of Perseus and the nuclear warhead. For anyone who ever reads this comment if I got anything wrong, please feel free to correct me as I haven’t played bo1 in about 5 years and the Cold War campaign I rushed through a bit

    Cold War Zombies was getting genuinely the best Zombies for me in a long time. I can respect the work done in BO3 and 4, but I was never really into the involved Easter eggs and pack a punch stuff. I appreciated how pick up and play Cold War was, it was fun to hop in and exfil when I just wanna play a quick round of zombies. The upgrade and crafting systems were awesome, it's nice to have choice with equipment, extra armor and weapon damage tiers. Also loved the integration of weapon progression between multiplayer and zombies, it was way less gruelling unlocking new guns in Zombies.
    Also despite the cobbled up recycled nature of outbreak, I just loved the idea so much and it's so damn fun. Come to think of it I think Cold War's strengths ironically enough were the new things it tried to compensate for the little time they had making it.

    Personally I do like out of game progression in zombies, that’s just me, but like the Easter egg and operators, there is a middle ground. First, make it so you can’t have a loud out besides default and leveled perks are disabled either for like the first few weeks on a specific map when there released or until you finish the main quest once. Also, make it so you can disable any of your upgrades so people can make challenge run videos or races or just for fun, along with a que in playlist for that with random people who might be interested. Have it give extra weapon exp for the ones you randomly get or buy off walls. There are so many ways to have cake and eat it for that system.

    The BO1/BO3 comparison was genius, i genuinely thought i was the only one who noticed this. I also thought it pulled from BO2 as well in terms of the branching choices (although not as in-depth) since you choose whether or not to save Park/Lazar & whether or not to side with Adler/Perseus. I loved every single Black Ops campaign & Cold War felt like what i feel like a reboot SHOULD be like, pulling the best parts of each game & attempting to form a final, definitive product, hell it even uses the BO4 engine to my understanding so it literally is a combination of the whole sub-series. It makes the pandemic suck even more as we ended up getting sort of a beta version of that & it just makes you wonder, how great could the next Black Ops be if they build upon all of this? Add in create-a-class from BO3, co-op/splitscreen campaign from 3, more branching storylines like 2, more of the tone from 1. I'm so excited for the next BO because if THIS is the result of a pandemic & a change in development entirely, it means the next game has the makings of being perhaps the greatest CoD in terms of campaign.
