My car cost £550, don’t know many people who’ve paid less and still have the car (except JB obviously)
Had decent insurance since 21, S3 and M140I, brsnd new R1 all under 700/each
Age doesn't make a huge difference bro. Where you live makes a bigger difference IMO, try checking quotes in a really nice area compared to a bad area. Plus these cars are all old and well out of warranty which means they'll be expensive to insure, regardless of other factors.
U will find have 2-3 years no claims can do alot for you

The bit about the outpouring of affection is 100% correct with the 4C. People of all types come up to me and tell me how cool it is, and actually in terms of presence, it shits all over some of the others on the list, because I've followed friends in their sports cars and supercars and nobody even notices the Porsches/R8s next to a bright red 4C

The M4 has some presence but they are SO damn common here it's unreal. But for the same price you could get a Maserarti Granturismo S. Way more presence with those cars I can tell you. Way better residuals too as you probably know not to mention a MUCH better soundtrack 😊
Either way mate keep up this great content. Hope you manage to get a video out about classic sports cars. Maybe stuff from pre 1980 would be a fun one to do?

Shame that audi put the fix, for preventing the front strut tops from cracking, under voluntary warrenty. Means not many people knew that it needed done. If anyone is EVER interested in getting one, you need to check with audi if the fix has ever been done. As that job could set you back allot of cash.

Can you please do a video on the best sounding cars for under £30k. After watching you videos I am very excited about my next car. The sound it makes is probably the most important factor for me. In your opinion which sounds better? Aston Martin vantage? Jaguar F-Type R? Maserati Grandtourismo?...
This video title essentially sums up my criteria for my next car ☺ Did the sleeper thing, now I want something which very much is not a sleeper. The Evora and F-Type are the only ones I'm looking at though. Most of the rest are a bit old and all of them cost a LOT to run, especially the GT-R. The M4 just sounds horrible, most of it's presence comes in the form of people being sick because of the exhaust note, which is a shame since I'd be very interested otherwise...
More presence = more likely people will look as it drives past.
Good definition, and I'm glad this vid was along the right lines for you! Evora vs F-Type is a tough choice, reckon I'd probably go F-Type despite my love for Lotus
@@CarsWithJB They're 3rd (F-Type) and 4th (Evora) on my list overall- the problem with the F Type and Evora is they're not a step up in performance from the GS but they are a step down in everything else.
Top 2 are the RCF or M6 at the moment. Neither is as good as the GS in most ways- interior quality, handling, running costs. The RCF has the best sounding engine I'll ever afford, but handling isn't great and the infotainment interface is abysmal. The M6 is the one that will impress others the most, but it sounds meh, handling isn't great and it has BMW reliability (i.e. none).
There's a good chance I'll test drive 2-3 of those and decide not to switch, since realistically the GS is the right car for me, I just get bored easily...plus I kinda want a V8 while they're still a thing.

Yeah feel that for sure - they can get some decent exhaust upgrades but standard they're not that sick
I think the grille, the lights, the lights ,wheels and overall angles and curves gives a car presence

I'd say Presence is a feeling that comes with a certain expectancy.
A luxurious car needs to look amazing, and the interieur needs to be very special (and expensive feeling).
A sports car needs to have a sporty driving feeling.
A super car needs to sound great, so people notice it. Stuff like scissor doors is even more impressive.
Sometimes it is just the brand name that already has the presence. Everybody knows what a Bugatti or Koenigsegg is, thanks to Social Media.

I'd go for a porsche cayman or boxster from 2013. Can get them from around £25k and I'm sure it's the type of car people will think your loaded. Insurance is cheap also

Good first/second car I personally think is a 1.9 turbo diesel pd engine. Come in skoda fabia vrs seat cupra and Leon, mk4 golf n polo. I have a fabia vrs paid 400 and insurance was 1000 blackbox. Still perfect at 220,000 miles. And power wise with just a remap you can see a solid 175/180 hp

Presence for me is turning heads and a ton of noise and tuning potential
V8 vantage over db9 tbh looks less dated especially with a few aesthetic mods to later gen spec
But it costs like 6k a year for matinence on average.
Does anyone else think like me. I think Audi RS3 has all the performance as these , a 5 cylinder howl ,,the versatility of a hatchback and very good running costs. My choice every time would be the car I’d choose starting from circa £15000. It’s a no brainier for me. Pete 🇬🇧
