Most artists say things such as; “I’ve recorded like 65 songs and had to borrow it down to my favourite 20 for this album” with this album it felt like “yes I recorded my last 20th song let’s finally put this album out”
Nicki Minaj sadly seems to be uninspired nowadays. Her pen game is solid, but I’ve always suspected that the yes men and disillusionment of the Barbz has held her back from really growing as an artist. She has some great songs and has shown that she can be a more interesting MC and artist than many of her peers. Sadly, this album only shows glimmers of that alongside some truly abysmal sequencing, mixing, and mastering. Chop this into maybe 12-13 tracks, fix the mixing, and add a few singers and rappers that flatter her, and she might have a much better time winning people over.
That's how I felt I mean I love her music but the overbloatedness and consistancy with the sound has always been a problem with her albums and she always cut the one or two good songs for crap like Super Freaky Girl like when Barbie Tingz didn't end up on Queen and Do We Have a Problem this time around
So it's the same issue as Queen...

What’s wrong with them mixing?
After listening to the album multiple times over the weekend my thoughts of ‘Pink Friday 2’ ended up different than after my initial listen. I think there’s more hits than misses on the album. I had fun each time I listened too to bottom these past few days. I actually don’t mind the samples as Nicki has always delivered a great ‘sample track’. It is a bit messy and chaotic however I think her journey from PF to PF2 has been just that and this album seems like a journey in music form. Also I really loved the whole ‘gag city’ promo and all the photo shoots are beautiful as well!
If you was a barb like me who know Nicki life and journey it’s nothing chaotic about it. She rap about her life. Nicki is a international global superstar a real one. Her album is the number one album globally. On that album it’s something for all her million and millions of fans all around the world. It’s not about one group of people. If you follow Nicki tour she know her audience. She not going to perform Super base in. New York.

As someone who did not hated any of her records and like more of her songs than I don't, I really did not liked this album. Bloated, watered down, uninspired, badly implemented samples, 0 features I enjoyed, it has some ok songs sure, but they are very few and far between for a record that is 22 songs long. Oh well, hopefully next one whenever it drops will be better
Considering how much She has Fallen once the 2010s Ended I Don’t think she’ll be able to climb out of that hole

Maybe Nicki Could’ve Got out of that State Maybe Jumped Ship After People Were Getting Their lives put on The Line by her Fans somewhere in between 2020 and 2021
But this Person was in that delusional State for the Long haul

Ooh you're about to get doxxed...In all seriousness, there were only a few good songs that stood out to me, and two of those were the sampled ones
I stopped being a fan a long time ago - the only time i hear about her or her music is when she is involved in petty online drama. She needs to sit down and really focus on her music. The album is all over the place, and in recent interviews, her energy is way down. I feel like she is over it - she is over the industry. I don’t blame her but she needs to focus on who she is as an artist, following trends like she does is not helping her. She also needs real people around her who will tell her the truth and not blow smoke up her a**.
I mostly agree with his review, I feel like Nicki wants to prove herself that she is on Top based on stats that she is chasing trends to compete with the tik tok songs. She is at a point in her career and fan base that she can do other things successfully. This album came out to be more of following trends and proving she can out sale her ops while doing it. Not to compare them but bringing Doja's recent music feels refreshing bringing back 90s rap production in her album and turning her sound away from the mainstream rap sound. Sure, she has a few songs in there that are mainstream but most of the songs there bring something different to today's female rap sound.

This album is a mess I’m disappointed… I have to disagree about Everybody though, it’s a fun & chaotic Jersey Club bop and one of the only samples that worked for me on the album. Uzi’s verse is fire too 🔥

I really enjoyed this album. This album is more mature than queen and it’s less defensive. And I like there’s more of a variety of topics.
As usual, Nicki’s weird defense of toxic male stereotypes and bitter disdain towards other women as usual makes trying to enjoy this a chore.

Latto and glorilla literally have a better version of ftcu this year with that exact same Waka sample
tbh i prefer this version, one of the only songs on the album i loved. lyrically much better than lattos version

It sucks because I remember when I heard her on Five Star Bitch I was surprised to hear an emcee with personality and wit! Then the singles were uninspiring and mostly pop songs. I think it's dumb the industry expects female rappers to be pop artists to get success. While I understand the industry can be fickle I feel like Nicki doesn't have much to lose by making more songs with substance and not just, ''I make money also good at sex'' which I don't like when men do it either. It's insane she still hasn't seemed to fulfill her potential while putting out a sequel to her first album. Maybe my perception of time is warped but it feels too early to try reliving her debut days when she hasn't changed her formula since the first Pink Friday.

Sales numbers do not mean the album is good, what you are saying is essentially a false equivalence.
600k is insane when it will be lucky to see 200k, no shade. Her promotional team is nonexistent and some of the Barbz probably deserve proper compensation for this rollout 😭
Doesn't mean that quality wise the album is any good...sales and awards mean nothing it's forgettable minus a couple of songs here and there just like Queen so much hype for so little quality and that's coming from a Nicki fan

While the Junior Senior one everybody likes, pardon the pun, he dislikes.
That Junior Senior tune "Everybody" has a really cool 8bit video. That's what i liked most about it at the time and now I wanna watch it again. After this review.

Even though, nowadays, I prefer Nicki over Drake, I think both of them are their own worst enemies.
As much as their legacies are intact, it's to the point where I wholeheartedly believe that both of them have musically peaked over a decade ago, and can't seem to either step aside or help out the next generation.
Listen, I still love Nicki and Drake, but I just can't seem to overall care about them in comparison to people who came after them, and have done great in spite of them.
Again, I prefer Nicki over Drake in terms of bars and music. Just so you know.

This album is great. If she would have kept it the same as her others yall would be saying she needs to talk about something else. Also if your expecting the album to sound anything pink Friday then your wrong.

Unrelated, but I'm wondering what are your thoughts on Scott Pilgrim Takes Off? I know you've made references to Scott Pilgrim in the past and that you're a Toronto hipster and self-proclaimed nerd. I'm wondering what do you think of the "adaptation" of the graphic novels?
I was a huge fan from 2009-2017, queen disappointed me a bit, it was very one dimensional and rushed, pink Friday 2 seems more like a queen 2, she’s beefed with many female rappers and with people pointing at her and saying she likes being the only female rapper and people saying that cardi is the real reason why female rappers got a chance and not actually Nicki; you would think that she would add at least one female rapper to her album like ice spice or long time friend Trina. There aren’t great bars on this album, there aren’t any impressive rnb hooks like “high school” no pop tracks like “pound the alarm” or “night is still young” there are no great solo pop meets rap like on her debut album track “I’m the best” I’m very disappointed.
Oh no. She really sampled one of the more annoying songs from the 2000s in "Move Your Feet". I had hoped I'd not hear that song again

I'm simply saying that I think people should give it another chance if they listened to it once and made judgements, because for me personally it got more enjoyable with more listens.
