Being an Irish woman, whose dad is from Essex I love listening to the story's, Michael you seem like you stayed true, kept your character And here to tell the tale , fair play to you
in all the interviews i have seen, this fella is the most genuine and decent i have ever seen around the "subject". Integrity. Nice one Mick. Good luck to you.
Great interview , and you didnt constantly interupt Michael . So many interviews and the host wont let the guest finish a story . Looking forward to pt2 👌
Really hit the mark with this interview. Mentions loads of interesting characters with no spin or hard man nonsense. Probably the most informative opinion about the Essex murders, and for the life hes lived, it's remarkable how humble and honest Michael Kelly is. No ego , and I'd recommend looking up Lee Chapman, another straightforward interview.
top bloke. says it as it is with no agenda, freely sharing true grit. easily, the kinda bloke you'd buy a beer for. good insight of 80s/90s Essex... remember it well.
Really interesting person can’t wait for part two, Michael you have had one crazy life fantastic to listen about , and your story about Tony Tucker was excellent,
I remember hollywoods waterfall and also the room at the top disco back in day. We went there at weekends from south London. Zens at Dartford was a proper dump compared to the others.. This is one of the best interviews/podcasts that I’ve seen for ages what a genuine fella, just subscribed on the strength of this one. Spot on👍🏻
Why judge someone you never knew or know personally? Always go for the middle as you never know who or what you're dealing with. This guy is a nice fella through interviews and can tell many people would've been intimidated until he spoke, he's, calm and collective. Very knowledgable and someone that knows a long list of what went on before during and after. Could listen to him all day
Great interview this one, I was born 88 and them days into the 90s were definitely the days to be out n about, my days were around the 2000s period…. Good to hear the Essex boys story from a specific viewpoint: from the doors, and it’s great word for word pal, love to hear more 👍🏻
He had so many gangsters looking out for him, he thought he was untouchable. An hilarious anecdote to this tale was after he went down, one of the doormen involved regularly sent him postcards from his travels with ‘wish you were here’ notes. Went on for years 😎

I knew Mick back in the mid-90’s and he was an absolutely stand up guy. Exactly as he appears here - intelligent, likeable and very handy 😅 A good man all round
Michael said that he was blinded one night in a fight when some bloke threw an ashtray at him. Was that temporary or is he still blind? I remember going to Hollywoods Romford, Raquels Basildon, TOTS Southend, The Studio Streatham ( around 1987) and Blue Orchid Croydon early 90's and was completely unaware what was going on behind the scenes!
They tried to save it. I had three detachments of the retina over the space of a year. I had some sight until the third op. Totally gone now. I have great sight in my right one though 😎 Kept me off the doors for 12 months.
I love this new channel fantastic content! Is there a way of getting a biography on his life story? Does anyone know if his biography has been published?

@@michaelkelly3638Hi Michael fellow Irishman here, really enjoyed that. Would love to know if you ever came across the Kiwi doorman and martial artist Gary Spiers? Think he mainly worked in the North of England, but seemed to be a widely known and well respected figure throughout England amongst other doormen and a bit of an auld character with a lot of seriously wild stories attached to his name.
Back in the 80s and 90s i was a very successful rave promoter and i held a few nights in a venue called club UN in Tottenham and Micheal ran the door there and all though we had words a few times i always found him a fair man, hard but fair and I hope your well Micheal and life is treating you good Phil
Its ironic, if he stayed at home in Templemore he would have been surrounded by cops because thats where they all train. Ended up surrounded by lunatics and villains. Great interview
I could listen to this guy all day long. With all due respect to the interviewer though, I’d like to hear him being interviewed by Dodge Woodall, he’s brilliant at getting the interviewee to divulge his stories more.
Loved the manor, my first club. Jesus help anyone who messed with the bouncers we watched them from the pub part of the club dropping paving slabs on a dealers head in a little courtyard area around the back 🙄

He is a fantastic story teller
He’s Irish got the gift of the gab charm and fight with the best he’s Irish he’s a smooth sort of character.
Its amazing how fan boys of blokes like Roy Shaw can't contemplate that their hero could be beaten like any other man.
We now know that Sykes beat Shaw twice and quickly both times.
