    Mike you are succeeding in making us better fishermen/fisherwomen. Thanks for the tips. As an old retired guy who is lucky enough to bass fish 2 to 3 times a week, I always learn something from your videos so keep it up. We appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience.

      So I used a swing head today on lovely 90+ degree day in AL and sure enough first brush pile I stopped on in 18 feet of water caught a 3+ pounder. Tried jig, shaky head and third was swing head with a craw style bait. Second cast with the swing head brought it back through the brush pile and felt the tap tap and then some increasing tension, set the hook and brought her in just as if I had written a script.😎 Always a nice way to start your day.

    You really should take a look at the cheburashka jig... It is a swing head jig, but with replaceable hook and weight. It means unlimited combination of head shape, color, weight (even material) and hook shape and size

    I rarely fish a swing jig, and I even make my own Haha! But, they are great tools for fishing moving water too. I've hammered smallies and some bonus walleye on them dragging thru gravel areas on the river with paddle tails and an exposed hook.

      You can still buy a swing head without hook though and add any hook you want to.

    I don’t doubt this kicks ass. However, there’s no way I can use this in the lake I fish. There’s tons of submerged grass with silt and zero rock.

    • @blind_eye_fishing
      @blind_eye_fishing Рік тому

      Use a lighter one so it falls slower and do a yoyo technique popping it up off the bottom near grass. You can also swim it over the grass.

    Mike I agree about the use in deeper water, before the water gets really warm. But during summer that thermocline really rises, making this technique ineffective often. They're only in 2 places when it's hot, structure or grass, or suspended deep. You would be foolish to try and use it in vegetation as well, above the thermocline

      I am in Indiana and I use a 3/8 and 1/2 oz Big Bite Baits swinging gig head combined with a large worm both in shallower water, ledges, deep and even in sparse to light submerged vegetation. Been hammering them and catching fish when others are not. Granted if they are suspended it is not the bait, but neither are several other presentations. I have found it hardest to fish in riprap just because it tends to get caught between the crevasses in the rock but it still works. Guess sometimes foolishness wins the fight.

      Remind me which sponsor it is that bought you a boat, all your gear, pays for your travel, etc..? And what’s your total lifetime earnings on the tour?

      You would be foolish to think that every body of water behaves the same. Do you realize how many factors above and below the surface dictate dissolved oxygen content and temperature?

    • @MFamilyFishing
      @MFamilyFishing Рік тому

      @@Widgeonwatcher don't have to be an HOF, sponsored etc. Where I fish the thermocline dictates how and where to fish. Anything above the thermocline is either in the weeds, docks, or suspended over deeper water. I never said it's a bad tactic. I use it through 3 phases of the spawn. But when they are truly in summer locations, they won't be below the thermocline, which is less oxygen. Some of Mike's competitors will say the same. 90% of the fish will be at or above thermocline during heat of summer. Common sense rules the day. Don't have to be a pro or legend to know this. I love Mike, he's awesome. Does that mean I or anybody else has to agree 100% of the time ? Can I be an independent thinker ?
