Good explanation and demonstration. I knew the first knot as the double Pitzen. Some commenters think it's a double San Diego Jam knot, but it's not the same. The doubled tag loop of the San Diego goes thru both the lower loop by the hook and then the upper loop. It is a good knot, but extremely bulky. The double Pitzen is just as strong, easier to tie and much less bulky. I have also found that on lighter line, 3 turns as shown in the video is plenty.

It's actually a Pitzen knot which is normally tied with just the single tag but doubling it makes it the Double Pitzen. Not sure how it became Double Eugene Bend. I fish for trout a lot so I've been using fluorocarbon. I've had a lot of trouble with line break using the improved clinch knot. I've tried the Palomar knot and it's better. I'm definitely going to use this knot because it seems super strong compared to the other 2. Thanks for the video.

Dude I tied this knot for a my first BFT trip with 50lb flouro... landed my first BFT at 145lbs mind you it was on a yoyo lure. Tied same knot for my fishing buddy on a 2/0 solid ring hook and he landed 70lbs BFT. I swear this is my go to knot from now on, its like a modified/improved double SD knot. The 3 wrapped around is more then enough, doing more makes the knot weaker and beefier. I just like the clamping force on this knot, it will NOT move from your hook/lure, great when tied correctly on yoyo/lures with welded rings.
It's called the Jimmy Houston knot. He had that not since it first debuted. If I remember correctly he even has it mentioned in one of his books he first wrote.

The knot is modified SD without going through bottom loop/between line. I like this knot more, its more snug fit and offer maximum strength with just 3 loops.
I don’t like putting the knot in my mouth because when l do pull it tight there’s always chewing tobacco stuck in it !! I put it in water when ever possible🤷🏻♂️!!
Jimmy Houston Knot is the same, but he wraps it 4 times. I think that's why he can claim it as his knot. Excellent knot other than the 3 tag ends can snag grass.

that know will help you a lot. use a unit to unit to tie both lines together or an FJ knot
thanks, I actually use a small ball bearing swivel to attach the leader..also prevents any twist when dragging a lure.

I just tied your jig knot twice in a row on a jerk bait and it broke off right at the knot both times. So I tied a polymer knot and it held perfectly.

Try the triple loop knot...easy to tie and strongest fluoro knot in actual tests.
Always heard that knot called the "3 tag knot" because of the three tags that get cut off.
reverse triple polymer and triple polymer, drop shot uses the tag end to fasten the weight....

Before you cut the oop and the tag end cinch it all down with a half cinch then cut.

Knotless is better for floro or mono . No spit needed and way easier .
