Very cool! If you want a complete workout on this concept, try playing a chorus of blues on each note of a diminished chord of your choosing. So Mixolydian F blues and then Ab blues, B blues and D blues. Then move on to the next Dorian, etc.. You hit all 12 chords this way, three for each note of the diminished cycle when using I, IV, V blues.

The "wrong note" sounded good to me, added some kinda tension🤗😍

Great to see an exploration of these sounds as applied to a blues. Matrix has always struck me a certain way-even the melody itself is interesting: that very consonant climb up the major scale followed by that sort of atonal blurb after. Its as if Chick is saying "here is the tradition, and now here is the new stuff!" Thanks as always!

Man I love this concept. When you go to the IV/V though, do you change key centers?

thanks jeremy! would you consider make a video about the phrasing you using here? are you using triad pairs? Some devices to start leveling up improvs :)

Mr. Siskind! Very nice. I enjoy your teaching immensely. I am digesting your information as a guitar player though and I hope other musicians from other instruments find you and the wealth of knowledge you are. Would you be so kind to explain the improv between 5:50 and 6:05? I can hear the pattern but I would like to hear your thoughts on how you entered and exited those phrases. What were you thinking?

Yeah, the mixolydian blues can be really cool! I hope you’re experimenting with some of these things!

I think the Aeolian blues works and has a very distinct flavour. Some adjustments and it would sail.

Which book of yours should I begin? I’m an early intermediate player. I’m working now on playing left hand ostinato and then right hand playing even eighth note major all 12 keys some minor. Trying to use triads in right hand but not yet able to think that well yet. Got the exercise from another video of yours. Thank you.
