I have no words to express how grateful I am to you, with this video. I have properly learnt in 15 minutes, was I wasn’t be able in years of watching tutorials on youtube. Its amazing how simple and structured you make the soloing on modal songs/mode. I am right now working on it. You have opened a new world to me. One million thanks Jeremy.
Yo “J”, just wanted to shout out to you and say that your “creating organized phrases” tutorial using “Satin Doll” as a template is some of the best lesson material I’ve encountered. And I’m an advanced student of improv. Do more of these. Keep it up. It opened up my ears when you constructed lines (that you barely commented upon) as you struck an appropriate chord tone while developing your weaving lines. Kind of blue at times … a la my man Sonny Clark, I might say. The “play one … rest one” thing was too easy to follow. How about a focus on construction of the actual lines themselves? Seems simple but not really all the time. Preciate ya, Bro.
As usual my musical reality is augmented ! this lesson gets me right back into what i love to do, floating Em7 over Dm7 for example, triads, triad pairs and so on. As you said at the beginning just Em triad is so beautiful. An everlasting fascination :) Thankyou so much.
One I hear Trane and Brecker do a lot is repeatedly targeting a specific chord tones, especially with ascending runs. Also, transitioning very clear motifs over the modulation in the middle 8 (Ebm7).
Why did I start hearing Chick Corea when you started playing outside? Your comping also gave me an idea for a song. Thanks as always for the insight, this is super helpful
Thank you, Maestro, for this augmented reality. Loads of great ideas for encouragement and inspiration, esp. the concepts on playing out. Totally helpful to me as a singer/songwriter/improvisor. Yoooz da mane😎🌹🌹🌹😎
It could end up like a dogs breakfast, but in reality, I see that thinking about ideas as a unit that’s compatible to the ear could really augment, Ted, the possibilities. (…that sentence really is a dogs breakfast🙃)
Augmented reality is a GR8 tonic!
Awesome! Thanks again Jane!

Amazing content again Jeremy! Thanks ever so much for sharing your knowledge. All I need to do now is transmit this information to my fingers…
Easier said than done, but I'm glad you're feeling like you're getting a handle on the theoretical side of things.
