HAPPY BIRTHDAY Peter Criss.. I love the swing vibe he brought to his rock drumming AND when he occasionally puts out these videos.. People may joke about “cowbell” but was a special piece of what he brought to KISS.. Sometimes less is more and more is less.. ❤
He was the reason I picked the stix up. Thanks Pete for the inspiration! You will always be my Catman. Happy birthday and holidays to you and your family. TimmyD in Philly.
Wow peter criss is almost 80 he just turned 78 happy birthday peter! and he still freaking got it! Just unbelievable He really should've been at the last kiss show at msg
The ONE AND ONLY CATMAN! Completely underrated drummer. I met Peter years ago at a convention. He was totally down to Earth and cool. You are loved Peter.
Well, that removes all doubt about his present playing ability that certain former band mates questioned. And that is what made them unique. That swing to the band's heaviness. Catman forever.
@@one_with_kevrything9825 that’s more a solo than a song. And the argument of the original 4 is moot at this point. They are all past their prime. Paul’s vocals in the last show made the group sound like PISS. I think they could have done that one show to end it. It also would have shown the Kiss Army that we mattered to them and that we were heard. And it’s not a criticism of Tommy and Eric who are incredible musicians. They were put in a bad position by Paul and Gene because of dollar signs as usual.
@Ricardo-go7yu I was there and I was disheartened that it was just another standard set and not even a Bruce Kulick guest spot. Guess KISS (Paul) must have beef with Grand Funk or something. But, anyway, I don't know many drummers touching 80 that could handle 90+ minutes, much less ones who've played live less than a dozen times the past decade.
@@one_with_kevrything9825 True. Plus, I don't think any living past members were ever really considered to make an appearance. I think it was left up in the air to sell tickets. The MSG show ticket prices were hideous.
@Ricardo-go7yu As always, Paul and Gene say one thing and Ace and Peter say another. Paul and Gene said they were invited to join, but never heard back. I think I heard Peter just outright declined and I think Ace said if they paid him more than they offered he'd do it. I'm inclined to believe Peter didn't show because he's even rawer about Eric than Ace is to Tommy.
Peter Criss is a great drummer and also a cool artist and singer. His drumming and vocals qualities are very important parts of KISS original sound and groove.
I waited until I had time to watch this. I play a little. This is an “off the cuff” drum solo. One of the hardest things to do in drumming. He sounds great. Very happy for him to be performing so well. Total pro. With Ace’s 10,000 Volts UA-cam hits and this. Mr. Eisen doesn’t look like he knows anything about what he’s talking about.
How original ..?? I believe Gene almost said the exact same thing while describing Peter's playing in his speech as the original 4 were being inductied into The R & R HOF ....juss sayin
OMG YES!!!! I have been saying this forever!! You can replace a player but that exact style can’t be duplicated! Each was unique! That was the magic that made them legendary! That’s all that needed to be acknowledged. It didn’t always have to turn into a pissing match on who is better. Mid 70’s KISS, it was raw, rowdy and dangerous. The hunger was obvious. The go for the jugular. That is what that era meant to a bunch of us!!
Not certain, but I remember hearing that Peter took some lessons from Krupa when he was young And, he said it himself, “They don’t have my hands, they don’t have my heart”
🎂 Happy Birthday Cool Cat 🎂 🎄🇮🇹 I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2024 🇮🇹🎄 Greetings from one Italian to another Sir Buono Natale 🎄
Can't take nothing away from this man, only wish things would have worked out with KISS in the long run... It was a great ride, only wish it would have never ended... Growing up with Peter and KISS is one of the best memories of my life, great times!
Criminally underrated, phenomenally talented, channeling Krupa/Rich/Roach with that unmistakable swing. Sure, Eric Singer was in KISS longer, but there will only ever be one true CatMan.
It’s really well composed and executed. I like to see him incorporating efficiencies in his playing, it’s something we all need to do as time goes by. He’s always been a fantastic drummer, regardless of what’s been written about him in the press. I believe many of his troubles were from the physical rigors of playing all the time, and all over the world. His solo on Alive’s 100,000 years, to this day I believe it’s one of the most influential in Rock history. I’ve heard so many drummers copping his chops. It’s awesome.
For somebody like me who studied percussions and sounds in college for two semesters, I observed excellent Drumming and this is not easy what he does, you can bang away like a lunatic and say that's great but playing this type of style is actually very hard and he nailed it with this video
Of course he can still play. It's amazing what he can do away from the tour slog. Anyone can get tired out and hurting on that punishing schedule. He's amazing.
Love this Peter...As a drummer and KISS fan since 1979 I gotta say Aside all rock stars your style is so cool and the grooves work so well you were able to put that into one of the cooles rock bands of all time..HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER and KEEP ON JAMMING..
An old school big band swing drummer that had an amazing impact on rock drumming. Respect to the catman!
Happy Birthday Peter Criss. The one and only, Catman! 78 years Fantastic.
You can totally know this is peter criss with his drum style. Close your eyes and you know it’s him bad ass
Him or Gene Krupa.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Peter Criss.. I love the swing vibe he brought to his rock drumming AND when he occasionally puts out these videos.. People may joke about “cowbell” but was a special piece of what he brought to KISS.. Sometimes less is more and more is less.. ❤
And the best raspy voice in Kiss !
He was the reason I picked the stix up. Thanks Pete for the inspiration! You will always be my Catman. Happy birthday and holidays to you and your family. TimmyD in Philly.
Few drummers have inspired more kids to pick up a pair of drumsticks than The Catman has, I know because I was one of them...my drum hero forever 🥁
Me too.
@80shairmetalisawesome 76 for me mom bought me kiss alive
Dood, 8 years old when I wanted to play like the cat man.
@@robertharding8394 Those were the days. They were a different band back in those days.
@@BadRonald1 horrible Then and horrible now.
The end.
He's the reason I became a drummer.
This man helped change the course of Rock and Roll forever, a true legend!

For sure.
Amen.
He was definitely one of the guys who inspired me as a kid. Ringo, Bonham, Moon, And Criss. Played what each tune called for.
This guy and Ringo Starr are why I learned to play drums and percussion.
You can hear the Gene Krupa drum influence in his playing. Your playing keeps the Krupa vibe alive and honoring Genes spirit.
This is such a real comment
I though that sounds like krupa influence
With ease. Just like riding a bike. Happy 78th birthday Peter
Absolutely! Love you Peter Criss!
My favorite drummer since 1976. He always had that Gene Krupa thing going.
You mean Gene Simmons.
Like Jerry did eh
Gene Krupa was a big jazz drummer back in the day. Peter even took lessons from him.
Happy bornday cat man.... All the best this holiday season and into the new year!.... Salute
Well, that removes all doubt about his present playing ability that certain former band mates questioned. And that is what made them unique. That swing to the band's heaviness. Catman forever.
Can he do that for 90+ minutes, though? I don't know.

Happy Birthday Mr. PETER CRISS ❤️
I love peter criss drumming happy birth day peter criss 🎈🎆🎇✨🎉🎊😎😺🐈
Substance not speed is what makes a great drummer. Peter is and will always be amazing!
I love seeing the joy on his face playing that Krupa stuff.
Some of that sounds like the solo in 100,000 years! Go Pete! No doubt he could've done a couple of tunes in the final KISS show.

I love the swing Peter has in his playing. People can play his parts, but they can’t imitate his feel.

His kit just sounds amazing. This is so great he put this out there for his fans. Just love his style! Still got it!
Touring non stop injured peters elbows. So glad he can do this today at 78! Some heroes don't wear capes and some use to !
I love this! Had no idea that he was doing big band style jazz these days. That's great!
Peter doing it his way love it!
Nice to see Peter still at it.
🤠 That's one swingin' cat! 🐱
You still got it cat 😺 exclamation point thank you sir and I won't do the Christopher Walken thing cuz I love that cowbell. Happy holidays
Nice to see a drummer do a solo without it being all triplets at a high speed. Great drummer

Nice and Smooth.
He's right at home in a big band! Absolutely love it.
Just don't torture an audience and let that "band" get up onstage.
Catman !
I wanted the best and I got the best! The greatest drummer in the world! PETER CRISS!
He is certainly one of them. Him and Eric Singer.
You can hear is love of Krupa.
Thank you for posting this! Peter Criss is my hero!
The last 2 measures of Parasite you can hear him hit the cymbal stand. I still listen for that.
I could ( and totally want to) see Peter succeeding with a swing and jump blues band thing like Brian Setzer has been doing.
Peter has always been a cool drummer. Rock and roll with some big band jazz mixed in. Let's not forget to mention what a great singing voice he has.
Peter Criss should’ve been at Kiss final show in MSG
He was 20 yrs ago. Lol what just ended was not kiss.

Similar to Kenney Jones and The Who.
I was always impressed with his drum solos. They are the only drum solos in my considerable rock listening experience that I actually enjoy!
I can relate to his drumming, I can't say that about most.
