I am going to ice fish for the 1st time in like 20 years this year. Thinking 3 rods and a couple tip ups. Do you recommend a jawjacker in place of one of the tip ups. And what action rods would you recommend? Just going to keep it simple for just getting back into ice fishing.
Depends on what you're fishing for with the JawJacker. They work well for Crappies and Trout mostly. I prefer flags or IFishPros for Walleyes/Northerns. As for the rod, I recommend a 32"-36" Medium action rod made out of fiberglass (Carbon fiber rods will explode).

Where you heading to? I am up just north of warrens and all the small ponds have 4 to 4.5 ice. But I am heading alittle north to get on some walleyes this weekend

What depth do you fish for crappies at?
Usually find 30’ and fish 15’-20’ deep for them
Have any problem ripping lips? And what line are you using?
