Beaver dams are awesome. I painted all of mine black and made black flags with custom logo's for each of the family members so we can easily see the tip ups and flags and we can see the flags a mile away. The black also keeps them warm in the sun.
You got some nice ice where you're at. IDK about our ice on the Winnebago / Fox River lake system yet. We seen a couple holes and a few shacks on Little Lake Butte des Morts, but we just had rain / snow mix and above freeze highs with close to 60 come Wed / Thurs. It may be a couple weeks before we can get out, we're hoping at least by Christmas.
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman We were watching a couple of your other vids and in one you mentioned where you were (I won't put it out there) Maybe we'll see you out there next summer, we're planning a camping / fishing week somewhere northwest of us with our fishing yaks. We're leaning towards the Flowage, don't know. Here's our channel we just put together to start posting vids. I only have a slide show up now from the last 6 or 7 years worth of pics of kayaking and fishing. Keep them vids coming, you get some nice clean fish. ua-cam.com/channels/kO6FYpE1RAeygIymd41L7w.html
I wonder if the bass were just feeling the resistance of the minnows being on the line. Like the minnow didn't just slurp in because it was tied off even with as light of pressure as it takes to spin the tip up.
The first tip up bass was my favorite i plan on waiting for more ice haven’t checked ice in a few days but it was 5” solid when I was out again. Nice fish looks like a lot of fun
Cool video! Ditch the BDs for polars set light with smaller trebles and you would catch three times as many fish, including the perch and crappies if they bite. Also, ditch the gilliteen. A small bobber waited with the smallest sinker and a tiny treble will out fish all those rigs on a day like that. Shouldn’t be giving all this away but if you like catching more fish take note… Otherwise, continue to have fun and keeping making cool vids!
Great video! I had lots of laughs. I could hear you holding your breath as the fish approached the bait. And then the "AAAHhhh" when they spit it out!!! I've done the same watching my camera. I laughed at your spatula, AJ wiping his mouth on his sleeve, and you getting the flag with the bun in your hand! Thanks for sharing!
Man that was hilarious when the AV cut off while ya'll were looking so intensely at it! I mean it's not funny, but it is. The under water videos are the best! I can't wait to get back out to Iowa/Wi soon!
Typically, I have more luck with a small-medium fathead for BASS rather than smaller shiner or a sucker.....Smaller bait, not smaller hook. However, I am NOT a professional by any means 😉Great video as always, you got all the tools for a sweet setup. Using a Snow Shovel to flip burgers..... you sir, are a legend. Tight Lines!!!!
Leave the skin on the bass. Season with a little salt, pepper, and garlic powder after marinating it in Italian Dressing. Grill it for about 10 minutes, leaving the skin on. When done it should just come right off the skin. Definitely my favorite way to eat bass, both smallmouth and largemouth!
To the haters: As long as it's legal to do so, keeping some bass under 14" is actually important when the bass become overcrowded. It allows some fish to grow larger into trophy fish. And come on. Keeping four or five bass isn't going to hurt the population in the lake, there's probably thousands of bass in there!
Darnit I was going to comment that the hook is too big then you say it yourself! Yes, it was obvious to me that the bass was tasting the minnow but also could taste and/or smell the hook and didn't want it. Smaller hooks catch bigger fish too, so I go with as small as I can get away with. Number 14 or 16 treble is what I use for crappie. It's so small it easily gets out of larger fish too.
What with people questioning keeping bass. They eat good. I think it like horse. Lots of people around the world east horse but we keep them as pets. With bass masters everyone just wants a trophy
U see how the fish almost stops when the minnow starts to take off, it's cold fish are lazy they don't want to chase. If you take your weight down to 4 to 5 inches above the minnow this will trigger a lot more fish and keep your bait in the feeding zones all the time.
And yes downsize your hook! Just as you questioned yourself I'm adding this comment. I use a size 10 or 12 for everything and I've got a lot more hookups.
I live up near Kyle, and he is right. Many of our lakes have lots of them. And I think that the little ones (11-14 inches) eat great. To me they taste the same as a bluegill, at least in northwestern Wisconsin. Once they get to 16-inches, I rarely eat one.
Great video. So much fun watching the fish on camera. You really learn so much when you can see exactly how fish are responding to your presentation.
Exactly its amazing to see what they are doing!
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman how. Did. You. Guys. Set. The camera to see when tip up trips

With a burger bun in your hand. I'm impressed 👏
The fish had to be caught lol!
Wow good to see you on the ice. Been 60 degrees in southern Wisconsin the past couple days, will not be on ice anytime soon.
Yeah hopefully winter gets here haha
I love all the pike tip up fishing videos of yours
Glad you like them!
man, wish we had good ice in Southern Wisconsin already. Gonna be a while before we get that.
Love the underwater clips!!!
Awesome day!!! WOOOOO 🎣
Glad you enjoyed

Yeah I'd give it just a little bit yet.

Yeah I hear what your saying I’ve thought using lighter line but then the minnow can swim away faster thi
Love the video, how far do you put your sinker above the hook? I keep mine about 6” so the minnow can’t run.. what’s your thoughts?
It all depends on the fish and how they are acting I thought about putting jigs on them to try something way different
What county are you in? Here in IL just trying to find some early ice and trying to take a trip soon!
Washburn
What type of hooks do you use for the bass and pike what size
Usually a #10-8
Never fails when your cooking fish start biting
The first tip up bass was my favorite i plan on waiting for more ice haven’t checked ice in a few days but it was 5” solid when I was out again. Nice fish looks like a lot of fun

The hot meal just makes the trip all worth it
@Wisconsin Fisherman it always tastes better too.
I bring out the deep fryer and make chic wings
Awesome video
how thick is the ice. I’m also new to the channel James Gatewood told me about you
The ice was about 5” or so. Welcome aboard!!
where you fishing?

Thanks Dave it was a fun time out on the ice! I like to show the real side of it!
What lake are you at? I'm in the chippewa valley. You gotta be north of me.
Pretty much do this in any lake in Washburn county
The shovel to flip the burgers 😂 awesome video from one Kyle to another. I always love the teaching and the underwater footage.
We need something to flip them lol! Can’t wait to colab with you!
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman I’d definitely be interested in that! That’d be sweet!
You might want to try blackening recipe for the bass. I've done it with bass caught in the summer on the Upper Mississippi and it's very good.
Thanks for the tip Kirk!
Yessssss eat all the bass 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤤🤤🤤
They have daily limits set for a reason!
I 100% support eating bass 🤘🏼
Great underwater films, greetings from Finland.
Thank you for watching!!
What type of hooks
Awesome day on the ice. Thats so cool watching live strikes.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Whoot whoot been waiting for your video! Keep it coming sir, tight lines.

Bass are still nasty, so mushy every time I tried it
Yeah winter seems better as the meat is firmer and cold
why do people eat bass, turned off as soon as that first largemouth hit the ice
This lake is overpopulated with them
