I’ve been tinting some of our Farrow and Ball orders today and I thought it actually was something worth covering in a reel…what is the difference between the three different emulsion types of farrow and ball?
Estate Emulsion - probably the one most synonymous with F&B, it’s that hugely sought after chalky paint finish at 2% sheen level that hides imperfections and creates a beautiful depth of colour. The downside…it’s not great in high traffic areas or areas prone to moisture.
Modern Emulsion is a 7% sheen level (so still is a matt finish as anything less than 10% is Matt!) but it is washable, wipeable, scuff resistant and provides some protection against mould. Great in your higher traffic areas or kitchen and bathrooms!
Dead Flat launched in 2023 (which i said this year in the reel which I’m hoping I can be forgiven for on Jan 1st 😂🙈) and it provides a super tough paint finish at a 2% sheen level. With the right primer it’s also suitable on your woodwork and metal for that colour drenched look! *For kitchen and bathrooms it’s still recommended you opt for the modern emulsion.
