I’m doing a terrain race in a couple days and have no experience with rope climbs (even though I workout regularly); I was worried I couldn’t do it! Thanks for the helpful video - my confidence is up again
Ive had my left leg lower than the right and I just keep sliding , going to try tomorrow with the side by side and see how I do. Best video I’ve seen so far. Good job
The ropes are durable and just like the ones at the gym. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTFxba6lNeHrZaHoY_LXe6ZzmMfaipnwu Caution: I bought the 50 feet ropes and they are long and heavy so make sure you have the space (I do have the space). If I was to do it again I would probably get a shorter version as 50 feet (25 feet each side) is a little long.
I bought a 1.5in x 30ft manila rope, and it is the sweet spot. It's long enough for me to extend over a tree branch that's way up there, yet it's not unwieldy like a 50ft rope. If not 30ft, I would go with 25ft.
In the UK the first climb is a French Climb and the second is a Russian but you would not leave your feet side by side on the second climb but put the second foot on top of the supporting foot and this would be a much better lock. Check out a local circus school or aerial school as we really know how to climb ropes!
Hello. Today January 25, 2022 (06:00 am) from Santiago of Chile, South America, watching this educational and great video. I have a question: to descend the rope is the same procedure of legs? Thanks greetings.
Nice video but it's missing one of the main components for people trying to employ one of these techniques. One of the toughest parts for beginners is how to start out on the ground and what to do with your feet when you're standing up. Starting while sitting on a box is way different than trying to start from a standing position.
U have to gain strenght. Your arms must support u while u adjust your feet around the rope. With practise u will get faster and faster at adjusting, it takes literally 2 seconds. But until that point, u will mainly trust your arms because u won't be able to use your legs properly. Rope climbing with this technique focuses on your legs instead of your arms and shoulders.
I had that issue this is my first time climbing a rope I just tied one up on my deck and wanted to climb to the top for fun but I can't do it so I was looking for a way on youtube
You make a very valid point. We'll do a follow up tutorial and go over drills to develop that part of initiating the jump and first foot lock. Great call.
Perfect video no i understand the importance of foot and rope placement. Seems as i now got where the friction was being created from . But its in between the feet in the J configuration the other one was more easy to understand because clearly your compressing the rope from the foot on top of the other. But now i understand the J hold.
Wow! Impressive video. I went through my first row climbing class technique and I just got up one time, but not through the entire rope. I will apply the Spanish wrap technique
Hopefully by now you've gotten the full rope climb, I think the s wrap is a way to ease into it, from there then start using the j hook method, hoping you have it or will get the full climb soon, best of luck
Curious though how hard it is to hold you whole body weight with just your leg holds. I get slowing down when coming down is defintely effected by leg configuration as well as aiding in taking some weight off the upper body. But isometric holds in place how long can people do that without tiring
Man I like the idea of using a box to practice until your comfortable with technique. My biggest problem has always been getting the technique right to get up to the top I fatigue very quickly because gravity will not allow me time to practice but I think with the high box I can try this new idea! Thanks guys 🙏
Just put your foot over on the J hook, making it completely secure and much less effort needed on holding it. Yeah it hurts at first but you get used to it.
I'm 247lbs and I haven't climbed rope in about 20 years, mind you I just lost over 165 lbs from the weight I've gained after college. I will be racing in Thailand this coming Saturday, I'm a little nervous because it is my first race . which one do you think I should try? The s or the J?
When using thinner diameter ropes like used in mountaineering you are correct. Stacking your feet on top of each other will create a better lock. But for larger diameter ropes that are 1.5 inches or larger we don't feel stacking is necessary. Really boils down to individual comfort level. Great input though! Thanks!
Finally the rock is back to teach us rope climbing

I think I saw this exact video on Brazzers
The J hook works better if you press the rope down on top of your foot not pinching feet together.
Thanks for the video. Doing my first Terrain run in a couple of weeks. This will be helpful.
How did you do?
Thanks for sharing🎉
Thanks for this!
WOOOOOW...she is amazing!!!

Basically, the first rep is a jump up, grab, pullup, and hold while situating feet.
J method is golden indeed!
Brilliant explained.....
I need to see the rear entry approach again.
Me too but I don't have a rope
Great video. Try them all and find our the last one works best for me

Thank You Mam..
Thank You Sir..
Hey why do I get really bad pain on the bottom of left biceps every time I do rope climb. The pain lingers for 2 days minimum. What am I doing wrong ?
So is this last technique using more of the inner thighs to hold that rope easier
just thanks you very much because it s very clear , i am french , my english is bad but nevertheless i understood .
Thanks
Just put your foot over on the J hook, making it completely secure and much less effort needed on holding it. Yeah it hurts at first but you get used to it.

The "J" is harder, if you never done this the "S" method is way more appealing and easy
Cool, I went to HS with her!
The rope is only 6inches and maybe 3-4inches when not solid.
Can you get her to climb it? Without the J, S, or anything fancy please?
She's absolutely gorgeous!
I never wanted to be a rope this much in my life...
Per Sakariassen

The j wrap is done wrong your supposed to stack your feet

You're supposed to use your feet???
