I would like your opinion zac. I can get the tamron 28-75 for around $600 cad or the sigma 24-70 mark ii for $1300 cad. is the price difference worth it? It would be a stretch for me and I just started photography but would like to pursue it as a business soon
Great video. I have the Sony 24-105 f4 and I am thinking to move to the new Sigma 24-70 f2.8 . I will lose 35 mm range but it will be faster. What do you think for all around lens?
@@pedrol.5417 that 24-105 is a solid lens. I guess you would need to decide if going to 2.8 is worth the trade off of having less reach on the lens. Also, the Sigma lens does not have optical study shot like the 24-105. Just something to consider. But the 2.8 is definitely nice to have
@@LS-is5ob I shoot everything in SLOG3 and I believe the AF sensitivity and speed is right in the middle. I’ll adjust it to taste depending on what I’m going for.
Because of you my friend I purchased my first lens and you are absolutely right, it has the same quality as the Sony G Master but half of the price! Best investment ever! Thank you and you have my follow!
Is it the focus ring, spinning infinitely? Or it stops at the infinite point and the macro point? I’m asking that because I want to use a focus motor for video. Thank you.
@@PTSOPHOTO it’s obviously a little bit wider than the Tamron. The build quality on the sigma totally blows it out of the water. I think those will be your biggest differences
@@ZacSopak interesting! I would definitely be interested to get my hands on the sigma to compare it. Trying to see what would be a good upgrade from my tamron.
The majority of the video was shot on the Sigma 24-70. The only time I used a different lens was for the shots of the Sigma lens. For that I used the Sony 20mm 1.8
hey Zack, can you help me decide as new fellow who's into both cinematic videography and portraits which lens should i get, sigma 24-70mm 2.8 or sigma 35mm 1.4 art , and for my camera body I have Lumix s5ii, and I really love both of these lenses and i will own both of them in the future but for now i can only afford one, which would you recommend me to get?
@@Hypfull my recommendation is the Sigma 24-70 because it gives you more variety of focal lengths. Yes, 2.8 is not as nice as 1.4, but you’ll have a lot more options when you shoot.
@@den-yc3hv from what I’ve gathered, the version 2 seems to be better in just about every way. The biggest difference seems to be the autofocus performance.
@@ZacSopakThanks , it’s so unfortunate .I bought version 1 about a year ago and didn’t think this was coming . If auto focus is the major thing I don’t think it’s worth selling and loosing money to buy the newer version.
What do you think about the new Sigma 24-70 2.8?
I love it i just buy it 2 days ago 🗽🎥🔥
@@Cdffilmss it’s soo good!
great one, they improved all aspects which were import, especially weight! the Aperture ring is also cool
I have to say I'm surprised how "affordable" this lens is for being a 2.8 and art series lens. Also a plus how compact it is
Yeah, it’s crazy that it’s basically half of the price of the G Master. I don’t think you’re losing out on double the quality.

I own version one, and the autofocus is great on A7R V & FX6. But I’m sure this one is faster.
I heard the version 2 is better for autofocus, but never had the chance to use the version 1. If it's working for you, then that's great!
