In today's video, we are going over the process of becoming residents of Florida. This may be different for everyone but this should at least give you an idea of what to expect. There are many benefits for RVers to become Floridians. We utilize a service called St. Brendan's isle (link below). They have been extremely helpful throughout this entire process. So if you have domicile, insurance, registration or license questions, this video should be helpful! Oh wow! I just found you through this video it’s perfect we are doing the exact same thing only we live in South Carolina. We are in the middle of selling house and getting a 5th wheel and heading out for adventures!! Great informative video for when I go full-time. I am already a Florida resident, living about ten minutes away from Green Cove Springs, so I guess I will also use St Brendan's Isle due to its close proximity. But going full-time won't be for another 5+ years from now..

We set ours up Dec 2022. With SBI also. We have 2 vehicles and registered both but insurance is refusing renewal
Rewatching this again lol , just signed up at st Isles this past weekend. Starting the process. We will be a lot like you because we are headed soon to West Virginia and will have to come back!

When you domicile in FL how does it affect your health insurance? We live in NC and are considering full-time rving. We have been told by social security and Medicare that we must have a legal address that is not a PMB or pobox.

I was wondering if I could do this process from SC to FL as a car camper. I don’t have a RV.Plan to travel after I sell my SC condo. No lien/loan on my car.

Car registration shows our mailing address from our mail service.

Well we already loved visiting Florida in the winter and then our daughter decided she wanted to go to school down there. So… in state tuition is a big bonus 😊
We are native South Floridians, so we just had to do an address change after we set up MyRVMail address.

very informative for my situation thank you. The only thing I wanted to confirm was the fact that you could have done a VIN verification by a non-Florida notary. Did that come from the tax collector office? Thanks in advance
it was part of the instructions they provided us. since we were in Florida, we went ahead and did it there.
Hi there. Does your credit cards and bank except the St Brendan Isle address?
Hi Vicki, St. Brendan’s will give you an address that you use for your “residential” needs for the banks and even voting. I use that for the physical address and use our mailing box for the mailing address on everything. It has worked for everything we have tried so far 😊

Would it be easier to just rent an apartment for 6 months following the 183 day rule, and changing everything that way, then start the mail forwarding and change of residency process?
It might be easier, but definitely not cheaper as a full time RV'er. At some point you would have to switch everything to a mail service if you leave the apartment and remain RVing.
So you only had to do the VIN Inspection on the vehicles and not the trailer even though it has a lien on it? Currently trying to plan out what we need to go have inspected so we don't miss anything lol.
Yes, that is correct. It’s classified differently so it wasn’t required. We use St. Brendan’s Isle and they were great and answering my hundreds of questions.

J&G: Do you have to have a cdl with tx to drive a class a? ( I'm already a fl resident but my kids r in TX and insurance is half the cost in tx so I was thinking of switching)

I am looking for insurance company that would insure us. Progressive says we hav to be in Florida to get their insurance we domicile as Florida residents.

Great question. For us we focused on why Florida made sense for us. The other states have pros and cons as well I’m sure. Florida works bc our family is on the east coast, we are there every winter and my daughter wants to go to school there. Florida does not require a CDL or non commercial license for our rig. I believe you have to take a driving test with the rig in TX. Just made sense for us so we didn’t do a ton of research on the other states. Hope this helps.
@@1StrangeAdventure we have found a place here in Oregon that will give us a domicile address and is a mail fording services. We live here so why go through the hassle of changing states for us.

What if you have a driver's license but no vehicle, yet.
The process would be easier for you. You would need to just make sure you have at least two bills going to your new address. The best thing to do would be to call the DMV in the area you are going to get your license. Our insurance and registration acted as our two pieces of verification.
I literally did all that in 24 hours in S.D. And their insurance is second lowest overall in the U.S. The weather?....not so nice. 😏

With so many homeless people buying rickety old RVs in which to live, being a full-time RVer puts you in the same category in the eyes of most people. As for me, I prefer to live in a real house, one with a concrete foundation and framing bolted to it. I like using a shower that is big enough for me to turn around in. I like having closets that hold more than two or three shirts and a pair of pants.

Correction: You’re a Florida resident , not a Floridian. There is a difference. The easiest way to become a Florida resident is to be born here! Lol! As a 5 th generation Floridian, welcome to Florida! #1 rule is don’t complain about how much better or how we do it up north! That drives us natives crazy!
