You guys blow me away. And the bizarre and earnest relationship between you two is very endearing... I come from a yoga-buddhist-all-peaceful background, and I never thought I'd be getting more out of a podcast from an ex-Seal /martial artists, than out of most retreats/teachers/books I've ploughed through over the last 20 years!!!
+Kelle Link How did you come across this podcast, you being of that background and all?!
That is a remarkle statement.
Get some
"I'm not sure Napoleon would say it's a 'dope little thing to do'"....lmao
This podcast is changing my life.
SHMDain this podcast is inspiring you. YOU ALONE are changing your life. 1 year check in...how's your discipline?
All of us man
GOOD
Jocko, I have to say that stumbling upon your podcast has been the single best thing that has happened to me. Once you see the path in front of you it is very easy to follow, but emotions and anxiety often cloud one's vision of their path. Don't get me wrong, I'm not perfect yet. I give myself breaks from discipline to recoup for a few days once a month or so, but hopping back on the wagon is much easier when you know what it is you must do.
The concept of detachment and logical thought is so relieving; curing my chronic anxiety with a 30 second thought flow of "i know what may happen next, and how to respond to each event. I will not dwell on what is to come, only decide on my own action once the time has come. For now I will do what I can, and if nothing can be on, I'll find something else to work on". I no longer am attached to the possible downward spiral that I feared for so long, because it wont happen, I won't let it. I only need control of my actions, not the world around me, to influence my future. I'm only half way through your podcasts and am so excited to continue. You've pointed out all of my flaws and provided every solution, without ever meeting me.
I deeply thank you for sharing the wisdom that you have accumulated in your life, as it is something I used to fear I would never grasp myself. I hope that your are heard by more people around the world every day.
mjrraps well said mj I’m right there with you! Let’s get after it!
Good
Couldn't have said it better myself. Life is truly what you make it. Strive to do good and be a better you than yesterday.
Last 5 minutes are pure gold. Again.
"You cannot blame your parents for your speeding Echo Charles" 😂 lol
No one might see this but I gotta say when he started talking about mind control I got shivers down my body and felt empowered to do anything. Thank you jocko for the kick in the ass
6:00 yes please that would be amazing. Podcast about military tactics.
"I gave them 20 seconds of intensity."
As if regular Jocko wasn't intense already. I'm sure I would never want to be on the receiving end of what he considers that to be.
Kicking ass and chewing bubble gum, but jackos all out'a gum!
I'm about to talk to a navy recruiter this afternoon. I think this podcast is just a recruiting program for people that want to learn to lead and better themselves. Thank you Jocko and Echo.
It's so beautiful 💕❤️: the first quality of a soldier is constancy in enduring fatigue and hardship. LOVE it!
Listen to Jocko. It's a dope little thing to do. :)
I am not sure that Jocko would say "it's a dope little thing to do".
Good thing it wasn't Jocko that said it.
Easily one of my favorite podcasts.. Character, Rationality, like very few others.
Thank you so much.
Even as a visual artist I found this truly life changing.
Great content fellas.
Salute from Canada.
This podcast has helped me get after it! Wish I found it sooner, but now I will waste no more time. I'm getting after it!
True dat! ❤
I smiled when Echo said "thus", and so did Jocko. You can clearly hear it in his voice when he said "yes" right after.
Hi guys, I was in the Army. During my third deployment I was stoplossed and had to stay in an extra 5 months because I was deployed. You don't get to leave mid deployment if you are with your unit, you are there. At least that is how it worked for me and a few Soldiers of mine.(Not that I would want to leave early if my guys were still there anyways) I can't speak for all units but I was never given the option nor would i have taken it anyways. Just wanted to shed some light. You both do great work. Keep doing what you are doing!
Absolutely, a phenomenal podcast. His last section on aggression and mind control is spot on.
"Victory belongs to the most persevering." - Napoleon
Cool quote from Napoleon that applies more often than not... "Du splendide au ridicule, il n'y a qu'un pas" (from splendid to ridicule, there is only one step) 👌
I really enjoy these podcasts, thanks for your time
Excellent podcast once again!
1:34:00 talks about what to look for in a jiu jitsu gym
Miz M thank you! what I came for
More around 1:25:00 but thanks
@@JS-bk4pn tnx!
Thank you
An extraordinary situation requires an extraordinary resolution💪
Another awesome podcast from the vault of Jocko & Echo. That closing part on mind control was frecking gnarly🤜🤛
One of my worst mistakes happened literally a couple of hours after I had the thought, "life is so amazing, nothing can go wrong." I was so high on feeling good and invincible in that moment, that I didn't pay attention to how I was setting myself up for a totally preventable accident that was a direct result of feeling like nothing bad could possibly happen.
"Napoleon fought more battles than alexander, hanibal and Ceasar combined" Sweet lord!
"Pick your battles".
Napoleon: select all.
This was a great! Podcast.
Hello Just trying to start from the early stuff. Thankyou Jocko and Echo
love this shit
This podcast is making me a better leader for my crew. 👍
Brilliant jocko absalute respect for guys
How does everything Jocko say sound like a prepared speech he's had in his back pocket for years? Is he that good of a speaker, or has he just discussed these topics this much in his life?
It's good to know that the 506th Infantry Regiment (which is famous for their exceptional fight during WWII) is still legendary today
JOCKO AND ECHO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN
How many things apparently impossible have nevertheless been performed by resolute men who had no alternative but death. Wow.
1:25:25 "Starting out in BJJ, how do you find a good gym/academy/school/dojo?"
I'm a huge fan of Sam Harris and Joe Rogan. First heard Jocko on Sam's podcast, who pointed me to Jocko's interview with Tim Ferris and Joe Rogan. Awesome coincidence was listening to Joe's interview with Guy Ritchie, and hearing Guy reference Jocko and Extreme Ownership.
Guy: Have you ever heard of Extreme Ownership, written by a couple of former SEALs?
Joe: Yeah, I've had Jocko on the show
You are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks you for be!!!!!!!!
Mind control. Listen to daily.
32:18 Warren Buffett describes this as a circle of competence. He believes a person is better off if they stay within it than someone who thinks they know everything. People who opine on every subject as if they're experts are exiting their circle of competence.
Thank you
“What does muster mean?” ✔️
It means be there 15 minutes prior nasty!
“Not everyone has tens” lol being a Navy Seal is like volume 11 in “Spinal Tap” and u only need 1 @ volume 11👍🤜
Question should be: “Hey Jocko, teach me how to have gnarly guard.” Lol
Thanks.
But Alexander was a different leader than Napoleon. Both Titans at their age but i believe Alexander was a Warrior-General/King,Napoleon was Tactical genius-commander/Emperor
Their times also define the roles they could take.
Jocko which book do you recommend about napoleon?
What is the book called he talks about in the beginning of this, I can’t find it online ?
Next time you're feeling weak, lazy, soft, or emotional, tell them that they don't get a vote. Tell them that you're declaring martial law on your mind. Epic.
2:00:50 mind control
Napoleon said the price of admission is pain and that must remain uncompromised.
Sending ripples that affect the culture itself.
who wrote roots of strategy?
Napoleon tort. The best dessert. Maybe that’s all you need to know.
HELATCH.
Do you think it matters if the gym has a shower or not ??
I think Jenny's alright.
ouuuus
Control your mind
Jocko 'I'm an individual' Willink
Jocko Podcast 06 ✅ Takeaway: Declare Martial Law on your mind 2:03:18
1:50:15
1:00:15 Grouchy *ahem* Waterloo *ahem*
Did someone fart at 9:15 ? Lol
27:47
I totally get where echo is coming from with the "it's my parents fault I got in trouble for speeding," after he said that I realize I let people off the hook for too much because "they didn't know any better" even though they've had life experience that should have taught them without someone explicitly explaining it. I guess I excuse them for not having common sense? 🤦🏼♀️
40:45
there is no spoon
this all strangely applies to league of legends
Jocko is so stuck in operational risk management he wouldn't know how to fall like lightning if sun Tzu hit him in the face w an autographed copy of the art of war. Marines over Seals for ever. Real marines who have only one thought . Making the hit!
Wow, sadness not getting a vote. When you experiance sadness you must cry right, to let it out of your body. Or else it will build up and make you sick. But I guess you mean it doesn't get a vote in what you are gonna do. So if something is going on, you decide what to do with it. So if you're sad, you decide what to do with that sadness and what you are gonna do, sadness doesn't get a vote. Strong.
this podcast is a masterpiece but am I the only one that finds annoying the fact that the other guy keeps laughing unnecessarily...?
actually after hearing his speeding analogy... I think Echo Charles just torpedoed himself...
