For the practicing parrying, there is actually a Rune called ‘Repair’ which after parrying 1 time will allow you to repair 100 durability on all of your gear.
But they definitely need a place to be able to test out the different runes seeing as once you socket them you can’t overwrite that slot if you don’t like the effect.
    Great vid as always 👍

I have heard about this game like a week ago from Gameranx and they got me hyped for it and now you breaking down the game bit by bit made me even more interested in what it has to offer. I feel like it offers what souls games don't anymore, which is innovation and experimentation. Ever since Sekiro, Fromsfotware fell from grace for me because every other game they have is just same old same old. Even Elden Ring wasn't that inspired, except for the open world touch, which was the obvious next step if you ask me. Nothing special. After pouring 60 hours in Elden Ring, I just go bored and uninstalled. So, yeah, great job here... can't wait to try this one.

I think gaming has evolved to a point where many features are just gaming features in general now, and not specific to any genre. Back in the day when there was very few categories you may have found a certain feature specific to that type, but gaming has come a long way since then. So with that said, I think Isometric Souls-like is pretty apt.
I think souls-like refers to the aspect where death, and learning through failing is a natural part of a game's progression and loop. In the same manner that diablo-like would typically refer to that isometric dungeon crawler loot hunting and monster-killing kind of game.
A game's categorization doesn't need to include every single aspect of what feature it may have within. The most surprising element of this game for me was the town/home building and upgrading; did not see that coming lol.

Looks really interesting even as an early access game. Thanks for the spotlight! I wouldn't have heard of this game otherwise.

I see it as a isometric platformer, not a arpg.

Definitely not a platformer. I would say the level design leverages the experience Moon Stuios have in making platformers (Ori). But it is not a platformer. It is most definitely an ARPG with methodical combat that is akin to a soulslike. The issue is that the front of the game doesn't dish out the gear fast enough to start getting into builds, so it ends up feeling only like a soulslike then you start getting these crazy items at the end of the game and the combat gets easier and you realize... oh, this IS an ARPG, just with a more slow paced methodical combat style.

this game is what ARPGs should have become a long time ago, its a revolution in the isometric view and I cant wait for it to get more content, its just so fun to play

I've been telling my buddies it's fable or wow art style with light weight souls aspects. Feels and looks like fable slept with wow but their kid wanted to be a souls game.

This game is going to be way too difficult for button mashing hack and slash players. I think the Marketing may have went wrong they didn’t know who the target audience was so they just tried to target everyone.

When people say "Isometric souls-like is misleading....
THAT ALONE IS MISLEADING. Because if you stick to DEFINITIONS of what is a "soulslike" game. This game checks maybe almost all the boxes.

There’s perfectly good reason to describe it as a souls-like. If someone is looking at it expecting the combat to be like Diablo, it would make sense to say- the combat is much more like a souls game than Diablo or Path of Exile. And the progression is also very similar.

    • @jf2849
      @jf2849 8 місяців тому +2

@@ikedogman1yeah almost none of it feels like a Diablo style game. It is very heavy on the souls like but there’s some building and survival stuff as well. They tried to mix several genres but button mashing hack and slash players may not enjoy it much. The appeal of Diablo likes is the power you want to feel crazy strong running around just destroying everything that’s not going to happen in No Rest for the Wicked.

Problem with souls players is that they don't want other games to be called a "soulslike" game... There are many reasons for that. For one, the ego is strong with these souls players. It makes their beloved souls game look easy or less of a game when it's being compared to a apparently "soulslike" game.
These people need to be reminded that the word is "SoulsLIKE game" and not a "Souls game". So when you do make a comparison, OFfckingCOURSE there will be differences. The point here is that other games are just borrowing/adopting some elements from souls games to their games and that is why it became what we now call as "soulslike". It's become a sub-genre in and of itself.
So please stop saying " It'S nOt EvEn ClOsE" coz to me, the only thing you would consider close is ONLY A SOULS game to itself.
Again, It's a soulsLIKE and not a SOULS game. 🤌
