TBS are doing it wrong, you're supposed to update it to a new protocol which breaks compatability with not only competitor products but most of your own lol.
That's a low blow.
FrSky saw what you did right there
ugh - this hurts my heart. I'm literally sitting here considering changing because of this. I have an ACCST controller and so I Cant use the newer one, and it doesn't make sense to buy the older one, and currently my R9m is tripping and giving me reception issues...ugh
@@Bigbeardfpv in this exact position myself. I'll never buy FRsky again. I'll just pony up the extra money for TBS
@@neale3 hey I purchased the micro TX v2 and never looked back. The system is great, and I have a lot more confidence !
Probably the most active patreon for our hobby it's really good.
Always choices. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah... I need to get one of those and some receivers. But I just can't right now. 😕
I hope I can get it soon though.
Thanks for the review, Lee! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
SOLD OUT !
in such a short time ...
luckily I hadn't bought one with my Radiomaster in April cause the JR modul had felt a bit pricy cause back then I had gotten the radio for 110 and the modul in a package or set price had been still 70€
Concise and smart review... thank you. Newbee Drone got one to me pretty quickly with no fuss... and Getfpv is waiting for stock, either are Great Vendors in U.S. so no "Int. Shipping" worries... happy flying!
Well I guess I'm glad I perchanced the original version last year. I can replace my antenna with no problem. I do like the new USBC connector but I can live with out it.. I really enjoy using it for peices of mind and I don't have to worry about failsafe. Thanks again for the information and video.
Yeah, but you have to deal with those screws every time.
@@metoo3918 No it's just a plastic cover that can't even be put back if you use another antenna.
Good video thank u
Please do a video on multi bind, thanks. And great informational video as always
Ayy finally just found one in stock bundled with a TX16S!
Joe Ragan FPV crate, it was $200
AAaaaand it's gonna be "out of stock" with months of waiting like forever. Seriously TBS should have adjusted supply to the demand ages ago.
I preorderd this morning
@@high008rise i preordered the v1 2 months ago from team blacksheep, got upgraded to v2 and should have it in 3 days. i'm sure there out of stock from 2 months of back orders
Yes multibind tutorial pls, have not figured that one out yet
Preview: ua-cam.com/video/HF3ywkzYMlE/v-deo.html
Ordered one today. They have a 1 watt firmware now.
Now its 1w power :) just update it :)
The SMA Cover is good, but I wish the Diamond Antenna would incorporate the cover. Because I think it doesn't look as clean now, but maybe TBS will make the diamond antenna with the cover.
I am using the v2 micro tx and although they made the antenna non removable if you move your antenna around it will unscrew the sma to u.fl antenna adapter inside I couldn't figure out why my rssi was so low turns out the adapter inside was loose once tighter up works great again
It's been 27 minutes and the tbs stock shows it's out of stock.
i know man, ive been wanting crossfire, but not gonna do super long range stuff, so the micro would fit me perfectly, too bad its sold out everywhere
Just order it ...
I got mine in less than 2 weeks even out of stock.
A video on multibind would be awesome!!

Awesome !! I will check it out!
I’ll stick with my v1 for now. Lol I still really haven’t use it much in the 6-8 months I’ve had it. I really only have swapped one of my quads over to it tho I have 8 crsf receivers lol. I’ve been lazy when it comes to fpv. Life keeps getting in the way.
I just got the v2 but still need reciever and I’m trying to find where I can get a jr adapter for the xlite shipped within the usa or at least get it within a few days or a week good to see ya archer tell life to give you a break so you can fly and install all those receivers 😂
I didn't get what is really new beside integrated antenna and usb type c? Multibinding supported in previous version as well.
@@jovanrado9548 500mW ? that's the power of the R9M.
@@calibermix8159 R9 module goes up to 1w on flex firmware.
If they are ever in stock I've been looking and waiting for months . 😣
preorder as soon as you can, i ordered the v1 from team blacksheep 2 months ago and finally getting it, it got upgraded to v2
Thank for such great explanation 👍🏻
One question- do we need HAM license for using this?
It is. See FCC paperwork on the TBS site
@@Painless360 Oh! Thank you so much :)
Im just starting out into drones.
I've been told I should buy the TBS tango 2 as all I want to fly is drones. The tango as you know has the micro tx with power output range 25 to 250mW. Im wanting to build a 6 inch longish range. Would the tango be enough or should I buy a radio master tx16s and buy the full or lite crossfire later. Thanks
It depends on what you want in the future. If you get the excellent Tango II then you're locked into TBS receivers. If you get something like the TX16s (which a lot larger) then you have options for other parts of the hobby via the other supported protocols and module bays... See my Kit Picks 2020 video..
ive got one and im having isssues with betaflight picking it up.works fine with the old micro tx,anyone else having the same issue? cheers
The integrated antenna is going to make this more difficult to pack and repair if it gets damaged.
No, you can remove it easily. It's an sma connector under the plastic lock.
Can you help me if this module works with FLYSKY TH9X radio...??
Is it possible to use this link for telemetry on mission planner on pc ( with micro module connect to pc via USB and receiver to FC on drone)?
👍👍
ya integrated antenna i have to modify something i just bought i like my diamond antenna looks like be just sticking with the v1
Once you take the antenna cover off its exactly the same SMA so you can use your diamond or whatever else you like.
So glad manufacturers are starting to use USB C
The TBS crossfire manual is not clear about whether the micro TX v2 support telemetry streaming via the cloud. The manual contradicts itself on this point. Would you have an answer?
Would you recommend this micro or the Lite or standard ? If you had to put money down for it, what variant would you purchase knowing all you do? Thank you for this. I am looking to switch from the R9 system.
Either is a good choice. The full size unit is useful if you want the Bluetooth MAVLINK and higher powers but is a lot chunkier...
Painless360 Thank you sir!
My plan is to get crossfire in the future. But sadly my qx7 don’t support these modules without messing up with its internals
It does, but not at the full 150mHz speed ..
It's pretty easy. I did it to my Horus x10s no worries and it's more difficult than the qx7.
So how does the antenna work actually? If you break parts of the case you can use the supplied one as a normal removable antenna?
Yep - SMA connector.
I’m new to crossfire is this what I need, I don’t know, it certainly looks good what rx and antenna is best to use for fpv plane quad etc? Thanks
Check out my Introduction to Crossfire series - all the basics covered in there! :D
Painless360 great I will do thank you mate 👍🏻
Do the EU and FCC have different antennas?
It looks nice, is there some rumor that they are releasing V2 of the large modules ??
I just pulled the trigger on mine but I have the xlite now I have to get the jr adapter which I can only find in China so it’ll be a month at least before I can use mine unless anyone knows where to get a jr adapter for the xlite in the USA lemme know 😉
I have that setup. It works but the adapter does not hold the module very well. I had to secure it with a few zip ties. I would much rather have the Tango 2 than a Frsky radio with an external module. If you have access to a 3D printer, look on thingiverse for better designs.
They sell it on Banggood.
What’s the difference to approach in Eu, or outside to get Max output? Mine shows 25 i Europe, great if could get more. Any tip?
You may have chosen CE region and it's now locked. You can unlock it by searching how to do it.
Fixed antenna? Did you get the right one for 868 Mhz or are these for both ( 868/915 Mhz)?
Does both. Are there two versions of the Immortal-T or TBS Diamond Crossfire antennas? Same here...
Good night. this Crossfire micro TX module works with the old Radio turnigy 9x (with opentx)?
It is the same as any other Crossfire module so doesn't need anything different... Happy flying
Been doing some research and it seems like its sold out everywhere and should be in stock in about a month or so. Plus what it takes to get shipped. Is there anywhere I could get the v1 so I wont have to wait that long??
Crossfire stuff always sells out fast, it's worth the wait..
@@Painless360 Why is it worth the wait? So far the only differences are USB-C and the way the antenna is on, right?
Hi, will this rx work with all x fire tx as I have bought a caipripriana wing and not sure which x fire tx is installed in it.
It should... Best of luck
Any info on the MicroTX v2 essentially getting bricked and not accepting any firmware installations? The MicroTX module worked great in my FlySky PL18, not a single problem. But then I got a TX16S MKII Max and used it one time and powered it off after my flight to recharge the battery. Then the the next time I went to fly, the MicroTX wouldn't power on. It only goes into bootloader mode when I push the bind button and it gets stuck and won't finish the firmware update process. I've tried everything. Is there a factory reset or another work-around that I can try?
I've not seen that. I'd check the forums for others who may have had it... Best of luck
Hi Lee, I am following the crossfire and AR wing series, but I'm having an issue, my crossfire micro Tx v2, won't bind or work in my Radiomaster TX16s, yet will in Taranis X9d+, can you please confirm for me that you are using this combination and it's working for you, all Tx's are running Otx 2.3.10, and crossfire is 3.7.8? Thx Andy (or, have I missed something?)
Yes, OpenTX 2.3.9 on the radio and latest FW on the Crossfire. You did watch this video of mine? - ua-cam.com/video/1XA_LUymaaI/v-deo.html Make sure you're subscribed and have the bell notification icon selected ;)
@@Painless360 Hi Lee, further to this problem, for me anyway, when I installed my Micro TX V2 module, I chose the CE region setting (sets the freq and power to correct values for the UK), however this stopped it binding for me. The workaround was to change the setting to open, then set the power to 25mW and the freq to 868CE, now it binds every time. Very strange but works now.
Will the tbs module handle that I am using a 3 s battery in my Taranis TX
No idea, I'm using 2s here. I'd check with the vendor. Best of luck!
does it have bluetooth?
Hey, do u know? it's useable with Jumper T8SG plus?
I don’t know if version 2 is compatible, but I am using version 1 of the Micro TX with the Jumper T8SG Plus Carbon. I had to do a simple hardware mod and update the T8SG firmware to the more recent one. Works great! Even the menu to configure the Crossfire is available on the Jumper (This is similar to lua script on OpenTX except much friendlier)
Taranis qx7 ACCESS mod is required?
Hello
Dyn Power = OFF
Max Power 250mW
Telemetry Page TPWR = 100 mW
Max Power 100mW
in Telemetry Page TPWR shows 25 mW
Max Power 25mW
Telemetry Page TPWR shows 10 mW
what the happens ?
Thanks
Do I still need to solder that tbs mod chip on my taranis qx7? I ordered this v2 about a week ago. Thanks.
The new module from TBS doesn't fix the fact that Frsky fitted a crappy slow inverter in their radio.. If you want CRSF at full speed then you need the mod.
Thank you!
@@Painless360 Does the module come with it or you've ordered it separately?
Hello Sir, I recently bought TBS crossfire v2, can you tell me that I can bind that micro tx with FrSky R9SX Receiver? If yes please let me know if you have any video on it.. please share
TBS Crossfire modules will only bind to TBS Crossfire receivers. See my Crossfire series... Happy flying
Question what is the piece that comes along with the module the little tiny board?
AT what point in the video?
@@Painless360 It's in the bag you take out with the info card in the very beginning. Sorry I'm a noob just got mine in the mail today and not sure what it's for..
Ah! That is a replacement inverter for radios like the FrSky QX7 where FrSky (despite knowing that a faster inverter was needed for things like Crossfire, and the better part only costing another $0.05) cheaped out on the inverter they fitted so that Crossfire couldn't run at full speed.
@@Painless360 Thank you!!! This hobby is fabulous but the learning curve is something else. I just purchased first 5 inch quad switching from Frsky to Crossfire and purchased the Rapidfire for my goggles. UA-cam has been super helpful but not as much help as talking with a knowledgeable person such as your self once again thanks!!!
Is there a difference between TBS devices sold in the US and the EU?
The hardware is the same but some dealers in the EU may set it up as EU settings.
Why didn't they put the V2 in with the TX16s Micro TX combo pack... sigh.
they have to get rid off old stock first
Can we replace this default antena?
Yes - as covered in the video (SMA connector too ;) )
So is worth upgrading if you already have a Micro TX 1?
If it's working and you like it - I can't see any killer feature on this that would warrant an upgrade for upgrades sake..
Painless360 Thanks!!! I feel now less stressed having purchased the “old” model a few month back.
It's functionally the same but it has been confirmed that the new version is capable of higher power outputs. It has however not been said what specific power ouput settings will become available later, so far it's the same 25mw - 100mw - 250mw.
This module is just a bit more purpose built and higher quality, staying cooler at the same power levels.
I'm not allowed to comment on that yet ;)
Will the QX7 mod be necessary for the V2?
If you want to run CRSF at full speed...
Tks for the video! I am from Brazil and want to buy a long range system, should I go with the TBS crossfire Micro TX or maybe wait for a better review of other Immersion RC Ghost??? What do you think? Tks
Non of the new 'Lora' based 2.4 Ghz systems can compete wiht Crossfire on range..
@@Painless360 tks for your return!!! Appreciate it!
Will this make my TX12 work with my Hubsan drone? H123D Jet?
Full list of supported protocols are available in github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Multiprotocol-TX-Module/blob/master/Protocols_Details.md looks like there are a few for Hubsan but no idea if it will work. Maybe someone else in the forums has tried. Best of luck
@@Painless360 Thank you 👍😎
Might sound ridiculous but what stands JR for?
My only memory for JR is that JR from Dallas JR Ewing and that does not make any sense ...
It stands for Japan Remotecontrol. They used to be a very popular transmitter manufacturer, and most of their transmitters had this bay. Unfortunately, they went out of business a couple of years ago.
JRPropo was a japanese Radio Control manufacturer of high quality and was known very well throughout the world in aeromodelling circles. It was before 'drones'/'quads' and chinese electronic copies.
The good old days.
@@CompactDisko They are still in business and well alive, catch up !
sir what difference between 50Hz and 150Hz in Rf profile?
Check out my video series on Crossfire. It has a few radio profiles fhst7it changes to preserve the link as range increases. Happy flying!
@@Painless360 thank you sir.
can TBS Crossfire Micro Tx V2 used with JR 11XZero
It supports regular PPM in the JR bay but I've never tried it in that radio. Best of luck!
@@Painless360 the Flysky FRM302 is supported so the Crossfire should run with no issues.
mod still needed for the QX7?
Yep, if you want to use full speed...
Not for the first batch with Rev 0.3 mainboard. Check your transmitter.
What is this little PCB in the box?
Covered in the video... Best of luck
What are UK regulations for legally using this in England without any permissions or licenses needed to fly aircrafts recreationally?
All covered in the excellent 'Drone Code' with extra bits here - register-drones.caa.co.uk/drone-code
that integrated antenna is nothing but a pain... why ?? sma its perfectly fine don't fix whats not broken
Regs - see note in video.. ;)
@@Painless360 i like the idea but pain putting back in transmitter case
