i think its great for both countries. And Japan needs more labor and workforce. Especially theres more older japanese than their young ones that cant keep up with their labor. Both countries can benefit each other especially Japans economy are not rapidly growing and germany might surpass them. If japan wont do anything with their workforce they will be left behind.

      Infrastructure pledge?
Politicians used to have pork barrels to control money and resources. Now, they have construction companies to continue to profit from government projects and Foreign Direct Investments that end up in Oligarchy.
Ownership and stable power production is what Foreign investors need. It's good that Japan invested in Aboitis.

no idea I can't tell from now but of course Japan's mind set is to earn and prevail but what will it do for the locals I cannot know now , of course in humanity ways Japan is not the US how tame and humanity is Japan I cannot expect it , Japanese are still too proud and masochist for moral trust to be established , old Chinese sayings has it " with politeness of Chow Kung and behavior of the beast "

Some people lie which is counted as white lies, while there are others that lies to get what they want. Those are two different things. Honest means moral purity, uprightness, virtue, justness. Japanese people, well at least majority of them, tends to inhabit those qualities. China on the other hand......

With two countries working together, much can be accomplished. The benefits are immeasurable as long as both countries display integrity. I feel both countries will do just that, they will both do whatever is necessary to have a successful partnership. There has to be a way to make sure small businesses can stay afloat during this transition. The Philippines are a resilient people, they will find a way to overcome any challenge they face. I pray for great success and great productivity for both wonderful countries. Other countries will be watching and witnessing what it takes to have a peaceful and productive partnership. The first word that comes to my mind is something I cannot express here or I'll get deleted. But essentially, we don't want to be screwed big time. The Japanese people/companies are still searching for the gold within the Philippines from WWII in which they looted throughout Asia and have a lot buried in our mountains to this day. I don't like the Japanese government whatsoever. Potential benefits of Japanese investments in the Philippines is primarily employment opportunities, possible technology transfer, increase in government revenue, capital inflow, increase in tourism activities and other benefits. As with other countries there will always be hurdles or challenges to overcome but in my opinion it will be minimal and can be easily overcome as the country is encouraging investments in the country.

The chinese BIR have 152 out of the 195 nations in the world sign up to the BRI and more are on the process.
The Philippines are really very poor and weak in diplomacy, a pity because the SCS disputes can only be solved by diplomacy. Most filipinos are ginorant of it but Vietnam is a more bitter rival of China to the SCS land disputes but that does not stop the vietnamese to still maintain good relations with CHina and thus reaping with trade and investments with China. From their former attitude of wanted to enslave Asia and ruling the worlrd militarily and economically to todays thinking of aharing the wotld their technology, innovations and and wealth thru their various initiatives and financial supports to countries as their allies. Their financial supports and loans extended to poor countries bears a very minimal interests in contrast to what the Chinese did which is to goble economy economy of their ally country country thru exorbitant interest rates that later on will results to bancruptcy and their ownership of vsluable assets and economic control. No matter how you look at this, Philippines benefits more than Japan does. I don't know what their motivations are, aside from helping their ally, but I know many would very much support this rather than any other country. Not a western but an Asian country? Check. Not driven by any politics but economic reasons? Check. Trusted not to take advantage of Philippine areas, but helped improve the domestic market? Check. And not aligned with China? A very big check.
Also, idealistic projects by Japan is very much more believable than any other country's offer.

Yes Japan has the Strongest Economy in the World and the basic needs of People are expensive to Buy. To ease the effect of great loss and to grow more, they have to outsource in The Philippines, in Thailand, In Indonesia, mostly in South East Asia because SEA will be the Richest Archipelagos 30 years from now. ❤

Yes, I see a strong work ethic here stateside in my Pinoy-Pinay Paisanos. Poverty, is a great motivator to succeed. I've experienced it personally. I left a cyclical industry -construction laid me off and trained in stable industry- steady work healthcare (many sub specialties) so always have medical related job. Poverty taught me to shift, retrain reinvest in myself and resume working hard. Now, if laid off, I simply change my sub specialty so I can keep Adobo on table, and keep my American bahay kubo so I stay off street. I must be a smart Filipino then.
So if I'm smart, then my cousins back home are just as smart if not more!
Are Japanese culture work oriented culture, more than Filipinos? Probably. But we can emulate them. And if anything, observe our Indonesian cousins, they look exactly like us, but they are more work oriented. Maybe that's why their infrastructure is better than in some of the provinces
Indonesians are a case study for us Filipinos, they (Indo) too are descended from multiple island tribes different languages, but they rallied under a common flag to succeed. Why not rally Filipinos the same way? Tara na.
