I was actually impressed with the glasses for my use. I'm not seeking to make entertainment videos, but rather to document my activities where I would need to see details of documents, license plates, prices and model numbers, names of items, what happened, when, who, etc. Although the video was very shaky and would probably be difficult to de-shake with software because of the narrow view that would get even narrower, the individual frames seemed remarkably sharp and full of information which is mainly what I would want. In fact, there is an upside to the narrow view which is you will get a more zoomed in view of whatever you look at and more detail. You do lose actions on the periphery, so it is a tradeoff. I would actually like these glasses with two cameras, including a wider angle one on the other side. In fact, I'd like a rear camera as well. The low frame rate has the advantage of giving you more storage, which is what I want -- smoothness just not important to me for collecting the essential data. I agree is is very hard to be discreet with any of these products (pens, etc) because people seem to have a sixth sense when something is a little odd/off (although I tend to be oblivious myself). Anyway, it really depends on your use - these glasses in my opinion could be very useful if the narrow view (better detail), lower frame rate, and high frame clarity are what you are looking for. I will keep them in mind as an option definitely.

this thing is helpful for none of those things. Child abuse, wtf? if you are a child, wouldn't your parents be quite confused why you'd be wearing glasses all of the sudden? Domestic violence, same thing(child abuse is domestic violence, is it not?) Workplace harassment, same thing. People would be wondering why you'd wear glasses randomly, and you wouldn't wear snglasses at work. Car accidents, maybe? but the quality is probably too bad.
@@jort93z They don't necessarily need to be on the person in order for them to be useful. A pair of glasses could be used as a portable camera and less obvious in many locations. Also, if they're on a person, they don't really need to be on their face. They could be just hanging on the person's shirt. As for the child abuse, it could be left in the child's room, before any incident happened. I've also seen children put glasses on their favorite stuffed animal. It's just a matter of being creative. Also, we're talking about camera glasses in general, not necessarily the ones reviewed. It's also possible to have prescription lenses fitted to the frame in the event of needing them to be used often for someone who wears glasses regularly.
@@Lloyd-Black The parents will be wondering where the child got the glasses from though. And you could just as well hide a camera in your room, very small camera's, such as the one in those glasses, exist. You can hide them nearly everywhere. It has very few realistic applications in my opinion.

I have thought about getting something similar to these for when I do automotive repairs. My current method of making repair videos requires me to either wash my hands before handling the cameras or move the cameras with dirty hands. I cannot wear a GoPro on my head or ball cap while working on cars and motorcycles, too awkward since I have to move about so much. Maybe some of the more expensive sets, closer to $150US would work like Pivothead. I'd need more than a 20min film time though. Thanks for the review, gave me some more to think about B-)
Arizona RE 2 days ago I ordered some spy glasses for that exact reason. I figured it's the best method for my viewers to see what I see and so I don't have to keep messing around w/ a camera and tripod. I do a lot of side work on cars and really want to start making vids to help people who want to do their own work. I didn't get the kind he has tho. Hopefully they work better than these do.
Ah, the last scene was pretty cool. I guess the glasses didnt quite make your storage bin. More like the trash storage bin. Anyway thanks for showing these glasses. Most spy devices are terrible for head motions or any walking movements unless you can keep your head from bouncing all around. If you pay 20-40 dollars for any spy device dont expect too much from them like you would with a top of the line SLR camera. They are more a play toy to me. Thanks for the video and take care.
I have only caught up with your reviews recently, we seem to have similar taste in many things, sound and bikes for starters. I do enjoy the 'experience', thank you.
Wow - you have some patience, editing all that for some terrible product. It does make me wonder, how many products have you purchased then just got binned as making a vid was just not worth your time lol. Thanks for showing stuff people should avoid :)
Techmoan. Why ain't you my neighbour. I'm crap at all the stuff you find so easy, but gotta say your vid's are a GREAT help to tech idiots like me. You vid's are fun, informative and really helpful to my un- understanding. Kudos.
I had a 720p, that time stamp is a nightmare as it's hard burned onto the video, there's no way of turning it off. I took me ordering breakfast from McDonalds with mine to test them really: Guru Larry Orders some Pancakes from McDonalds
You actually can't make those links with the title anymore, google used to automatically convert it so you can't get it anymore, but for old comments like this it stays.
Emily Rose ...and the reason you know that this is a bad camera is because of this video. If I hadn't bought this 1080p camera then this video wouldn't exist and you wouldn't know that this was a camera to avoid. I have therefore provided a service by demonstrating the shortcomings of this camera, and you're welcome - despite calling me idiotic.
Techmoan You could have guessed this because the 19 fps! You grabbed the highest res for the cheapest price, that *is* idiotic, especially because the fps. Some research and common sense would lead you away from it. I bet others have already tested it, so no we dont need you or your video to know that its bad. Anyway thats so much for your "service".
Emily Rose Some people want high rez images from spy glasses without high fps because of the budget and use. Recording some documents, people faces, boobs to wank to etc. This are bad even for that kind of usage.
Techmoan It's almost obvious that if you get 1080p you'll get low FPS. You should have set them up at 720 or something like that. I bet they would have been good enough. You didn't try it, dont you?
when I was watching the video in the back round they were playing the song happy on the day 2012.03.10 and the song came out November 21 2013 don't you think that's creepy
I actually bought these this year, 2023, in Bangkok. They were the last pair the guy had, and had been sitting around a while. I spent $45 having prescription lenses made for them, before I found out they would only record for 10 minutes because the battery was old. The video quality is actually pretty good for spy glasses. Both ear pieces broke, so I had to tape them. Then when I was wearing them in a bar in Pattaya, not recording, i got "caught" and was kicked out of the bar and told never to return. Before they had V12 spyglasses which i used for many years but then they stopped making them.
8:05 "And then, even if you get the most discreet possible pair like I got... [ominous slow-motion zoom] ...I'm pretty sure that *this guy* still spotted that something was up." Made my day ! 8:26 "The user manual, or should I say 'use manual', is useless. The information in there... it's just gobbledygook. You'd get the same if you got a chimp to headbutt a keyboard." Re-made my day !
I think the video quality is not that awful after all. It all dipends on what you use the spy glasses for. For instance, not bad for recording a conversation in a quiet room (an office, your doctor etc.) facing another person. The main drawback is the battery duration: 20 minutes, quite useless. Also, I agree with Techmoan that the shape of the glasses is far from being anonymous :-) I love your reviews, very useful indeed.

You're right about that drunk vision bit (Lol!) and befitting end. I've been looking for a pair like these for ages but have not been able to find an affordable one that takes decent videos. Thanks for making this vid.
I just watched a video of car crashes recorded at races. Invariably, as soon as the wreck started, the person recording the video moved the camera to be able to see the accident and the recording missed the most important parts. This would be helpful.
I love this English guy. Dude you've taught me so much this past hour lol. I've never liked the way English people speak or even their choice of vocabulary however, you make it all awesome lol
Excelent review. Had the first pair you showed didnt work at all. Then got a pair of the Proclaimer style standard definition ones. Bad but ironically the low definition actually reduces the harshness of that shaking whilst moving around. But totally agree got them to record myself driving RCs. DONT BOTHER! Save your money
abobjenkins, exactly. I was going to say to him, "he's driving on the wrong side and "your" is wrong". "Your" and "there" have become the standard in recent years for you're and their. Even online newspaper reporters and editors do not have a command of formal written English.
Good review and nice demo, but what a waste at the end :(. A lot of people have put time, effort and natural resources in designing, making and shipping them. It may be of poor quality, but you could have given them away to someone who could have used it instead of just destroying it for the sake of drama here. I know that you have money and you own it and you have all rights to do whatever you want to do. But money is not equal to the resources. Just my thoughts..
+greatramu86 Ever watch the Dukes of Hazzard - they destroyed hundreds of Dodge Chargers for entertainment purposes - I broke some really terrible spectacles that were going to go into e-waste recycling.
Hahaha... hilarious. Thanks for reviewing. Will give this one a wide berth especially for cycling over potholes and rough roads. Loved the bit around 8mins 4secs where the guy walking by was giving you a 'you-nerd' look, chimps headbutting and then final steamrollering of the glasses.
Hi and thank you for your honest appraisal. I was thinking of this type of thing for shooting videos of metal detecting but after seeing and hearing what you had to say I think I'll need to rethink the situation. As the hobby is very slow going most of the time do you have any advice regarding a suitable set up? Many thanks Chris.
I have to laugh when someone says you need to wear these because of police brutality. Really? you interact with the police that much that you want to wear a pair of shitty glasses everyday "JUST IN CASE" you interact with a police officer? Im lucky if I talk to a police officer once every 5 years. If your coming to the attention of the police THAT OFTEN that you want these glasses, then maybe you deserve a good flogging :-)
Why is it funny? I don't know what country you live in but police brutality is a SERIOUS issue in the U.S. I have seen first hand how sociopathic our law enforcement is. You wouldn't have to wear these things 24/7, just have them in your pocket until the moment comes to use them. Cops only change their behavior when they realize you're recording them, and sometimes they lash out at you too, so doing it discreetly would allow you to capture more genuine footage while relieving you of any threats. Having both hands free would also allow you to help someone being beaten/choked out by police and possibly save their life.
Glen I take it that you're not a U.S resident. The American people does not encounter police, on the contrary the police encounters the American people and at times abuses their authority and power. Come to the U.S to experience this for yourself.
I do but I travel a lot and have never seen any big issues. I do see a lot of attitude, conceited and have no time for you attitude from the police though. I have been to Japan, Canada, Ireland and the police here are much less friendly and helpful than they are in the other countries I have visited. Here in the USA they have time to sit around talking to their buddies but if you go up to ask a question they do not have 5 seconds for you and they act like you are an inconvenience. It is all about generating money from those speeding tickets now so they are not interested in helping anyone anymore.
Techmoan Thanks for the vid! Just curious, how's the search for the dual dash cams coming along. Been looking into buying something, but so far I haven't been able to find any that offer 1080p for both front and rear. Hope to see something in the near future! :) Thanks again for your vids! Love them!
Rest in peace glasses. It would be awesome if the quality issue and shake issues could be fixed though, and that you could somehow get prescription lenses for them. Seemed like a good idea at the time sort of thing.
Justin Corley i saw that too. Maybe the poor camera was the reason? Sometimes folks have inverted/backwards videos on youtube. Weird. Just plain weird.

* Workplace Harassment
* Child abuse
* Domestic violence
* Car accidents... so on...
This is a really good idea!
What else?? A rape button? Or what about a loud alarm for when thos evil men attack
Yeah, your surrounding must be a heck of a mess
this thing is helpful for none of those things.
Child abuse, wtf? if you are a child, wouldn't your parents be quite confused why you'd be wearing glasses all of the sudden?
Domestic violence, same thing(child abuse is domestic violence, is it not?)
Workplace harassment, same thing.
1 : WTF do you want for 35 quid?
2 : I think the video looks half decent for the price.
3 : Contact lenses?
Actually I enjoyed this review. Worth watching. Well done.
I’d like to see a new video on what new spy glasses are available now
This is one of the most wide review I've ever seen on UA-cam. Congratulations.
Oh my gosh, I can't believe you would waste those glasses with the *storage card* still in them! Well, maybe the card survived. Put the card into something else and test/keep using it, won't you?
Officially my favourite UA-cam page!!
"...this reminds me to the effect when you get really drunk in Grand Theft Auto" Hah, hilarious.
Third class review of substandard product which anybody & everybody can find out like child’s play.
'Specs can't always be believed'. I see what you did there!
I was one of those who asked for a review of this type of camera for filming while driving my Fiero on winding back roads. After seeing this, I may just stick to a more typical camera strapped to the top of the console between the seats. And as always, Thanks for the reviews.
I definitely agree that you'd be better getting a good action camera - there are plenty to choose from now at all price-points.
Why does the description say the comments are disabled when they aren't?
Would you believe in 2021 we still don't have a definitive go to set of "spy" camera glasses. Have you got your hands on any more models recently?
I have thought about getting something similar to these for when I do automotive repairs. My current method of making repair videos requires me to either wash my hands before handling the cameras or move the cameras with dirty hands. I cannot wear a GoPro on my head or ball cap while working on cars and motorcycles, too awkward since I have to move about so much.
Maybe some of the more expensive sets, closer to $150US would work like Pivothead. I'd need more than a 20min film time though.
Thanks for the review, gave me some more to think about B-)
Arizona RE
that's exactly what I'd like them for. Any luck finding one with long recording time and decent fps?
I did not end up going with any glasses type. I still use a gopro strapped to my head or chest. B-)
Better option might be to get a small USB camera and run it to a small tablet or a RPi
Great review!! I'm really glad I found your review before buying this exact model. I guess I won't be buying any "spy camera" glasses after all! :)
I took me ordering breakfast from McDonalds with mine to test them really:

How did you write link without the link and from words?
I never thought I'd see you here, haha. Also, how exactly DID you manage to Title your UA-cam comment link? *insert thinking emoji here*
You actually can't make those links with the title anymore, google used to automatically convert it so you can't get it anymore, but for old comments like this it stays.
mines r exactly like this video 1080p30 and this video help me out a lot how to find the video mode ty so mutch
@@eobardthawnemcoc You used to be able to do that back in 2014, not anymore though
Love your reviewing honesty .... and your humour.
its idoitic to go for some cheap 1080p crap with 19 fps omg. 720p or even lower with a better quality and fps will make you way more happy.
Techmoan now he only needs to apply water to the burn
Techmoan
You could have guessed this because the 19 fps!
As always, a great review. It was nice to see you walking around china town, I was in the Woo Sang the other day!
is it usefull for recording lectures please do give a reply .can i have a custom made eye glasses
You're the best reviewer on UA-cam! Great vids!
Hope you didn't leave your memory card inside the glasses while running them over... :-)
More info on the blog.
well, its clearly visible that he did... if you watch carefully you can see it stick out a little bit - i was shocked myself :O
Lol "a chimp banging his head on the keyboard" that made my day!
Quite a bit late, but thanks for the vid, Mat; you always take one for the team!
I thought that vid & aud quality was pretty dang good given the budget actually...
Great video. Thank you for your time and effort to make it and share it with the world.
Anyone watch this video in 2019 ?
Me too.
Е-е-е-е-е !
Senior Bilal yes, why?
I am watching this in 2021
I'm watching in 20019, I'm what you primitive Earthbound humans would have called a digital archaeologist.
Watching in 2020 - and still loving that British humour
when I was watching the video in the back round they were playing the song happy on the day 2012.03.10 and the song came out November 21 2013 don't you think that's creepy
It’s probably just the cameras internal clock being wrong
I actually bought these this year, 2023, in Bangkok. They were the last pair the guy had, and had been sitting around a while. I spent $45 having prescription lenses made for them, before I found out they would only record for 10 minutes because the battery was old. The video quality is actually pretty good for spy glasses. Both ear pieces broke, so I had to tape them. Then when I was wearing them in a bar in Pattaya, not recording, i got "caught" and was kicked out of the bar and told never to return. Before they had V12 spyglasses which i used for many years but then they stopped making them.
Did your SD card you forgot to remove survive?
All is explained in the related blog entry here: goo.gl/GZAwSb

Yer that guy at the end defo knew you were up to something haha great video dude ✌🏼
For insurance purposes, when you are falsely convicted of a crime, these glasses would be AMAZING.
* UPDATE: I've bought the glasses.
And when you get your micro SD card checked for the proof, you realise that the crime started 23 minutes after the camera started recording...

Dammit. I,d have offered you 10 bob for those before you broke them.
... and I'd have turned you down. I just want to make videos. I'm not in the product supply business.
Just kidding.
A thick skin and a broad sense of humour are definitely assets on You Tube.
Landrew0 ten bob,your showing your age 🤣🤣
I think the video quality is not that awful after all. It all dipends on what you use the spy glasses for. For instance, not bad for recording a conversation in a quiet room (an office, your doctor etc.) facing another person. The main drawback is the battery duration: 20 minutes, quite useless. Also, I agree with Techmoan that the shape of the glasses is far from being anonymous :-)
I love your reviews, very useful indeed.
You broke them!! D: I want one of those to record classes at school or conferences and take notes in a more peaceful way and you broke yours!! :(
They still sell them on ebay - links in the video description.
Any plans fot a "5 years later" review?
2:37 glaring usb socket, that's a dealbreaker.
You're right about that drunk vision bit (Lol!) and befitting end. I've been looking for a pair like these for ages but have not been able to find an affordable one that takes decent videos. Thanks for making this vid.

Yeah, that's a good idea.
Yeah we do it deliberately.... ;-)

Didn't even spare the Micro SD...
I like the video, very detailed and informative, plus you showed my favourite places in Manchester, what a lovely city!!!!
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
Love your honest and clear reviews.
You left your SD card in the glasses when you ran them over.
Someone forgot to remove the 32GB SD Card before crushing haha
Well that's unfortunate :O
No - they/me purposely left it in the camera - it's explained on the blog.
LOL, Your vids keep getting better, thanks.

WOOOOSH
abobjenkins, exactly. I was going to say to him, "he's driving on the wrong side and "your" is wrong".
"Your" and "there" have become the standard in recent years for you're and their. Even online newspaper reporters and editors do not have a command of formal written English.
Finally a good review on spy glasses. Thanks. But you should give away without destroying it.. 😁

Hope you took that SD card out :P
Definitely these should go straight into the bin!!!! It’s a shame that the quality is so bad... is there any with better quality?
thumbs up for video, thumbs down for product!
***** I live in the US and have never encountered this issue, EVER.
Glen I take it that you're not a U.S resident.
The American people does not encounter police, on the contrary the police encounters the American people and at times abuses their authority and power.
Come to the U.S to experience this for yourself.
Mrphotoman you just probably live in a very small town
I do but I travel a lot and have never seen any big issues. I do see a lot of attitude, conceited and have no time for you attitude from the police though. I have been to Japan, Canada, Ireland and the police here are much less friendly and helpful than they are in the other countries I have visited. Here in the USA they have time to sit around talking to their buddies but if you go up to ask a question they do not have 5 seconds for you and they act like you are an inconvenience. It is all about generating money from those speeding tickets now so they are not interested in helping anyone anymore.
I'd be willing to pay a few hundred if it came with my prescription lenses - would you consider reviewing some better ones?
Oh no! What a crushing waste! ;D
Techmoan Thanks for the vid! Just curious, how's the search for the dual dash cams coming along. Been looking into buying something, but so far I haven't been able to find any that offer 1080p for both front and rear. Hope to see something in the near future! :) Thanks again for your vids! Love them!
im getting the same glasses "spy"
Rest in peace glasses. It would be awesome if the quality issue and shake issues could be fixed though, and that you could somehow get prescription lenses for them. Seemed like a good idea at the time sort of thing.

Yeah, Justin Corley, just if you're a dope who doesn't understand that not all countries have the same traffic standards.
Justin Corley i saw that too. Maybe the poor camera was the reason? Sometimes folks have inverted/backwards videos on youtube. Weird. Just plain weird.
