We have to learn right handed with knives because it’s hard to find genuine left handed ones. My favorite left handed knife is the CJRB Kicker Recoil Lock Black G10 Folding D2 Steel Pocket Knife
Nice to see a left-hand specific review of these knives. One thing I've noticed personally is that flippers tend to be a noticeably better choice for lefties, not just for their ambidextrous deployment, but especially when closing the knife. In my experience most flippers with liner or frame locks are noticeably safer to close left handed than thumbstud knives, as the flipper tab stops on the nail, allowing plenty of time to get your thumb out of the blade path before closing it (the Civivi Elementum has a noticeably smaller than normal flipper tab, however, so I dont know if it applies in this specific case). This is especially important on higher end "drop shut" knives, where it can be tricky to get your thumb out of the way in time.
As a lefty, I prefer the Spyderco right-handed compression lock. It just feels so natural to push the lock over with my left thumb that I would have it no other way.
Thats very interesting. My father and I are actually carrying a left handed PM2 right now. We have not ever used a right handed compression lock and plan on doing so after using the left handed first.
I've never tried a left-handed compression lock, but I have a paramilitary 3 lightweight. I find it a little awkward to get my thumb in position on the compression lock, but that might just be because I don't carry it too often.
Same here,I’ve been carrying right handed PM2s and PM3s for years.I decided to try out a left handed PM2 a couple years ago and it just never felt right to me
As a lefty I find most knives perfectly acceptable..the only things that bother me as a lefty in the knife world is most side folding automatics(unless they are left handed models or are ambidextrous, both of which are pretty rare),OTFs that don’t have reversible pocket clips, folders with a single sided thumb studs that can’t be removed and flipped to the other side..my biggest problem as a lefty is the fact I usually have to buy expensive custom made sheaths for my fixed blade knives.its always a huge plus for me when a fixed blade comes with a decent ambidextrous sheaths.thats one thing that makes me gravitate towards knives with kydex and/or plastic/polymer sheaths because they can usually be fixed to work on either side
Spyderco makes a lefthanded military model liner lock. I have one. Been making it for years longer than the para. Chris reeves makes lefthanded knives too
Thanks for the review! I've always carried a Leatherman and the with Free p2, I can swap the scissors and blade and now it fully left handed open and close. My new job doesn't allow multi tool use so I need a small pocket knife and your review helped :)
I have a TR-3 left handed, much nicer than any of the right handed push button autos I have tried. Oddly push button lock manuals don't bother me, just I feel like I have a poor purchase when using push button autos with my index finger.
The only left handed knives I own is a Pro-Tech TR-3 and a Spyderco PM2..I had a left handed titanium+Damascus Kizer Sheepdog but it was stolen out of my Jeep along with my Microtech Combat Troodon Hellhound,a Titanium+S90V Benchmade 940 and a TRM Neutron
Thanks for putting together this video! I also really like the Rat 2, though I totally share your concern about hitting my thumb when closing, just a matter of time or repetitions. With Civivi, I ended up getting the Odium which is also small but has reversible pocket clip (I think the elementum may be the only non reversible in their brand). I find the PM2 a little bit too large, hopefully one day they release a leftie PM3. Other than that Spyderco back locks and Spyderco axis lock is what I usually go for.
My main problem is closing liner locks. I literally searched out this video because I just flipped my praxis closed on my thumb and chopped a bit of thumb off. :/
I personally only trust back locks had 2 liner locks fail. One cut me real bad. After that I stopped using liners. Really to tell the truth I only really trust coldsteel I carry a broken skull in my back pocket. My other favorite is a large espada in g10 or voyager line . I think voyager line is the best knives for the price any size or blade shape. Hey another cheap an great left hand knife is a harnds giant silkworm ( it’s only giant in name) it’s $29 , 14c28n steel . I would highly recommend
The only liner lock knife that ever failed me was a cheap knife with a really thin liner lock that wouldn’t barely lock up .I trust all the folders I carry regardless if it’s liner lock, frame lock, axis lock, compression lock, back lock, etc but the cheapest knives I own are a couple Civivi knives which are made really well..with that being said,I always either have a fixed blade on me or in my Jeep so if I’m going to be using a knife hard I go for a fixed blade
I’ve never owned anything from Harnds, never even heard of them until a few months ago but I’ve heard nothing but great things about them and I like the Sandvik steels like 12C27 and especially 14C28N,they are really well balanced blade steels..I would put 14C28N up there with AEB-L,154CM,VG-10,Nitro V and N690.they aren’t “super steels” but they are great steels regardless..I’m not a big fan of the Chinese _Cr_MoV steels but Civivi’s 9Cr18MoV really impressed me.Civivi/WE make nice quality knives too though and always have a good heat treatment.they are now using 10Cr15CoMoV in some of their knives which I have no experience with but if it’s as good as Civivi does with their 9Cr18MoV,it should be pretty great for a $50-$80 knife
I wish Ka-Bar would sell a thumbstud upgrade that would provide a thumbstud on BOTH SIDES, and one that was not serrated and nasty. I love my Ka-Bar, but I use it both hands..... and sometimes a co-worker might pick it up. Ridiculous to have the stud only on one side.
As a left handed person who carries an assisted Flipper how do you decide the best position to put the pocket clip? I like to carry tip up but don’t know what side the clip should be on for best comfort and fastest draw.
Spyderco also make a left handed PM2..I personally prefer the right handed models myself but that could be because I carried right handed PM2s and PM3s for years before I ever got a left handed PM2
I bet all knife manufacturers have wheelchair ramps at their factories and offices yet they see fit to completely ignore your disability! That’s a total disgrace!! Do left handed people get special parking spaces near shop doors?
Everything is righthanded.... cooking stoves, knives, microwaves, scissors, computers, cars, fishing reels, etc etc...
Its really painfull to experience sometimes☹️☹️
Subscribing because us lefties need to stick together ❤

Subbed for Team Southpaw...
The new button lock Elementum has a switchable pocket clip. I am excited to try it out!
Just found your channel. Subbed. I’m a lefty who married a left-handed woman and we have one child..a left-handed daughter👍🏻

I have heard the same thing Richard, good point.
Same here, Richard. More natural to me but I also need a left handed version to compare

Chris Reeve makes lefty model sedentary models, really nice!
Sebenza!
Spyderco makes a lefthanded military model liner lock. I have one. Been making it for years longer than the para. Chris reeves makes lefthanded knives too
Boker Kalashnikov Automaric side fire come in lefty. 👍🏻.
Spyderco also has a fully left handed military. It’s my overall favorite knife.
I will have to pick that up. Thanks for the tip!
I got ahold of a Boker kalashnikov left handed version..... really good option
Thanks for the review! I've always carried a Leatherman and the with Free p2, I can swap the scissors and blade and now it fully left handed open and close. My new job doesn't allow multi tool use so I need a small pocket knife and your review helped :)
This is an amazing service. Have been needing left handed knife help!
Great video. I've been getting into knives for a while, and I picked up a few more details to look for.
The Benchmade 940 are completely ambidextrous, as are many of their axis lock knives.
Thank You!
I have the left hand version of the small inkosi and the protech newport. I definitely appreciate having some left hand knives.
Right on. There are some good ones out there.
I have a TR-3 left handed, much nicer than any of the right handed push button autos I have tried. Oddly push button lock manuals don't bother me, just I feel like I have a poor purchase when using push button autos with my index finger.

A knife is lefthanded for me when the clip is on the correct side of the knife!
Otherwise the opening mechanism is backwards in the pocket
I have the Elementum, which I really like. The problem I have is it can open in my pocket because the clip is not reversible. Kind of dangerous.
My main problem is closing liner locks. I literally searched out this video because I just flipped my praxis closed on my thumb and chopped a bit of thumb off. :/
Excellent video. I have the cvivi dogma. Benchmade make left-hand friendly knifes

@@garrettferrell6821 the harnds are on the lower budget side $25 -35 I'm really happy with mine. For the price you can't go wrong.
Am left handed. But better fidgeting knives with my right. Would like a knife specific for left handers. The spiderco para 2 seems to fit the bill.
I'd like to see just the left hand used to open and close - injury, etc
Awesome video. I’m left handed, where can I get the left handed Spyderco?
I wish Ka-Bar would sell a thumbstud upgrade that would provide a thumbstud on BOTH SIDES, and one that was not serrated and nasty.

All my edc knives are left handed. Still waiting on a left handed Norseman from grimsmo knives
I'm not left handed by choice when I turned 18 my right hand stopped working
that sounds awful, I'm sorry to hear
@@patrickg8744 it's cool
Damn, that sucks man..I couldn’t imagine how hard it would be for me to have to learn to do everything with my right hand
Good luck with learning to handle lefthanded knives
Just fyi bestech Malware has a left handed version and it’s a beautiful knife
Spyderco makes a left hand military. I love my crk mnandi LH but if you like China made Kizer makes a couple different ones and We make a few as well.
Spyderco also make a left handed PM2..I personally prefer the right handed models myself but that could be because I carried right handed PM2s and PM3s for years before I ever got a left handed PM2
Where can I order one
On thank Christ a channel showing only lefty knives?
I bet all knife manufacturers have wheelchair ramps at their factories and offices yet they see fit to completely ignore your disability! That’s a total disgrace!! Do left handed people get special parking spaces near shop doors?
