- Buying six broken Nintendo Switches from Ebay can't be that bad right? I want to see how many out of the six Switches I can fix, to sell on and make a profit. I've ATTEMPTED to fix a few Switches now, but you're never going to learn unless you keep making the mistakes 😁

Wow dude. Fantastic persistence on switch 6, sheesh. Good call on the exposed copper under that burn, rewinding the vid to right after you cleaned up the burn you can spot it. Hard thing to notice at the moment though, very nice troubleshooting.
I think 2 or 3 would be a good one to revisit tomato. Of course I have no idea what could be wrong with em but I'll enjoy it regardless. Love your show. 💜
Thanks Tid! Yeah very glad I revisited number 6. Feel like a couple of month ago I wouldn’t of had that knowledge and given up. Thanks for watching 😊
Just saw your 250 tip on one of his other streams, top lad Tidder! Way to support content creation :).
That trace repair on the last one was great work! I remember you shying away from those type of repairs in earlier vids, glad to see you get your skills and confidence up! Sure you can do something with the others in a revisit if its worth putting the time in.
Thankyou Chris :) Appreciate it!
Not bad mate.....so enjoy your videos please keep them coming and here to help get your videos out to everyone to enjoy....cheers buddy
Great video as always joey, if you rewatch the video from 20:06 when you're scraping the trace that had blown on switch No.6 you can see that you actually scrapped the board away to expose the ground. Its only a tiny amount, but did expose the ground plane. Cant wait for tomorrows stream ;)
Plus switch number 4 is more than likely the lcd driver that you pointed to.
Thanks Roy :) Yep I noticed the exact same thing! See you tomorrow :)
really enjoy your presenting style keep it up.
it's actually amazing how often I've seen that sorch mark on pi3usb.
I would recommend getting a thunderbolt usb c extension cable for your dock. you can then just use a motherboard and battery to see if the motherboard boots. without sticking back in the housing.
Ah okay that makes sense Chris, thankyou :)
well done mate, keep up the good work - Steve & Frankie
Great job!! Your trouble shooting process and your knowledge about the switch are admirable!!
Thanks Duo :)
Wow what great content you made Joey. Love your editting as well. The part of fixing the docking problem was really cool. Keep up the great video's. 👍 oh still looking forward to the Ps4 BLOD trying to fix revisit 😉
Thanks Virgil! Haha, I haven’t yet sent those off to the people they need to go to! I still have both the consoles behind me 😂
Hey Joey, I'm really impressed how your craft developed in the last year or so. Magnificent progress. Good job dude!
Thankyou Marvel! Appreciate the kind words :)
Fantastic work on the blown trace PI3USB Joey, that was a level up repair.
Thanks bud! That means a lot 🥲
short circuit on capacitor near ic p13 means either shorted p13 or shorted or dead cpu. keep this in mind (second switch)
Oh :( so you think the CPU is dead :(
@@JoeyDoesTech unfortunately i think so. there are several videos about it and they all seem to confirm this. one day if i get this opportunity i will do my own investigation to confirm this. greetings from italy :)
Very good joey I love watching your videos specially the Xbox ones when I’m repairing and can’t think what’s up with it your videos come handy 😆👍 keep up good work
Haha good to hear! Thanks for watching and commenting :)
I learn so much from this video . Keep the good work and thank you for sharing 😊
Thanks for watching as always Froz!
Those issues with the first two Nintendo Switches got me interested.
Is there a follow up vid on youtube from your stream?
Hey bud :) yeah in my playlist Livestream you should see a follow up stream, I won’t spoil it :)
Wow.. that last trace repair was great. I'm sure you are able to fix the other ones as well except number one.. I have not much hope for this switch. Thank you for the good entertainment. Oh and Tomato!
Thanks Leon! :)
I know you only got two working but watching you figure out and get the last one working was great.
Thanks Dak :)
Excellent video, 1/3 repair success. I loved how much depth you went into telling us what was wrong on the last repair, and the fact that it worked made it so cool.
Thansk Mikee :)
Leet, good times on those old hacking forums XD
When you didn't have a pad on switch number 3 and scratched the coating on the board to solder it. I'm just curious how that would enable the capacitor to work, is it be ause Capacitors have no polarity? I might be completely wrong. Just wanted to ask.
Nice work Joey. Just wondering is it possible to inject voltage on No 2 and use IPA/FLIR camera and see if cap blown? Enjoyed the video
Very good shout Ob1! Maybe something we can try tomorrow :)
Great job, my man! Might seem like a bad fix ratio, but keep in mind most of these were previously opened. You, my friend, are the "Switch Resurrector"
Haha thanks as always KP! One day I'll have a 100% success rate in one of these videos!
Ordered a usb tester through your affiliate page. I love watching your videos and I'm currently scratching my head with my Motorola edge 20. Switched out the USB port, flex cable and battery. Still won't charge 😢. Shows life as it will show a display to say charge battery but I can't get a feed to charge the battery
Thanks for using the affiliate links! :)
joey you should change the back light connector on the board as iv had it were the bins in side dont shut down on to the cable enough so no back light great video
I'd agree with this. it probably needs a thicker trace for the power of the back light. this always gets burnt when I'm contact with water.
I've rebuilt these. but I think he can cut it shorter. and expose some more trace
Okay sounds good Steven :) Will have a look!
Tomato and greetings to Paul.
What you did with #6 was really impressive!
Thankyou :)
Lol that first switch is cavity free and minty fresh 🤣
Number 6 must be so satisfying!
number 1 do a reflow on it like vince did what have you got to lose you have got way more better at fixing and diagnosing them i would love you to re visit the switch where you did that trace repair on the charge port and do it again because you nailed the one on the video ic all the best jon
Thanks Jon! Yeah slowly but surely :) Will reflow that one tomorrow, like you said nothing left to lose!
Great video, at the start you said your looking to get a thermal imaging camera or ultrasonic cleaner. Have you looked around to see which thermal camera you would get?
Hey John :D Not just yet. Someone did leave a comment recently recommending one, so will have a look at that :)
@@JoeyDoesTech cool, let me know if u find it as I am looking for one. Thanks
Wow awesome work on the last switch!
Thanks bud :)
Leave a comment with the number of a Switch and what you think might be wrong with it for us to look at tomorrow 😌
See you in the Livestream! Have an amazing weekend 🤪
Interesting that you check both sides of the USB-C connection. Good idea.
It looks like you’re doing all the right steps, you just need to get a batch that hasn’t been already opened :)
Agreed! :)
Hi did you fix the second one probably it is the max ic. The little ic on the left side from the board.
I didn't try that Steve no, I may have to give that a go!
Quite late to comment but still here!
Gonna say kinda sad that my prediction wasn't correct about 4 switches but the stuff you did with those 2 were so good that i didn't really cared bout that :)
Great job especially at 6th switch Joey :D
Thanks Krus :)
Great video Joey👍
Thanks Micro :)
#1 Not sure about apu but I fixed one this week by reflowing the rams. The two big black chips next to the apu under same shield. My theory is that it mostly happens because of to much heat from people reworking the charging port. Look to see if you see any rework.
#2 inject voltage. A AA might work if u got no power supply. You should get one. 🙂
#3 No clue. Parts!!
#4 The pins that make the connections are located deeper inside and are hard to see. I saw a slightly bent pin but can’t say if it’s enough to be bad. The quality and focus just wasn’t enough to tell. If you are going to replace it cut up some kapton tape and cover just the top. Remember plastic hates airflow. Sts telecom another great channel did a video about a week ago on a samsung phone with a large fpc.
Perfect! Thanks for the explanations as always Jesus :)
right at 5:37 i said "it's in the charging port" then you switch to the charging port right after
magical moments (even if incorrect)
Hey joey, as far as I know, on the first switch a blue screen is a communication error between the cpu and ram, so either one of those is not making a contact on one of those communication rails or there are other issues
I'll give it a reflow tomorrow :)
@@JoeyDoesTech nice, ofcourse I recommend you try the ram first as it is easier and less risky
Remove the nand from switch no.2. Not unusual to have shorted caps on there that make it look like a bad CPU. Karl
i want to do your kind of job..but i dont have any skills to do it?
i saw another guy doing this on his channel.
2 is almost 6 my man which then turns into 7 so I was nearly bang on the money 😁.
Awesome to see a little winning the Joey congrats mate 🥳, and nice to see you sticking with the 6th until you'd nailed it 🙂.
Thanks bud :D Yeah Ebay is always risky business!
I can feel the kindness of your soul
joey switch number 4 could be a bad m92 chip even though there are no shorts it cause a no image
Ah that's a good shout Jon! We can try that tomorrow :)
how the hell did the sixth switch even turn on with a hole in p13 usb?
Magic
Not a scooby doo! I guess that pin that was damage only effected the output display.
You did very good
Thankyou :)
JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY they go for $150+ for parts on eBay
Switch #2 most likely has a dead CPU. Apparently, it doesn't always show a straight short on that one cap. another method that some people are now beginning to use is an Ohm reading. most continuity test don't beep if the ohm reading is above above 50 ohms, but it could still be a short. on that CPU cap, if you do an ohm test and it's under about 200 (I think), it's a dead CPU, regardless of the continuity test results. Don't quote me on that number, I'm not 100% sure. Either way, do an ohm test on that cpu cap. It's probably dead.
"another method that some people are now beginning to use is an Ohm reading" That method is old...I don't understand why you say like it's a thing that people has just discovered, unless you're a newbie who doesn't know much about electronics. Continuity reading isn't always a good test for shorts.
Hello, I wanted to know how you learned this.
And a rather late tomato to you, too. 😝
Man, Iove these videos, just going them today, but that 5:18:39 time stamp is insanely annoying. Probably just missing out on context, but just my initial impressions after watching a few videos.
What you mean pal?
@@JoeyDoesTech in the upper left corner of every video I've watched has that time stamp on it, almost like a watermark. I can email/tweet/etc to you if you don't know what I'm talking about.
@@infin1ty850 OH the microscope time haha. I can’t get rid of it unfortunately :( sorry!
@@JoeyDoesTech hey, no problem! It was just something I noticed and wanted to point it out in case you hadn't noticed.
Aahh. Toothpaste. My favourite thermal paste
Mine too ☺️
