      Probably about £10-£15 (including postage costs) for use as a laptop carry case or for carrying other portable (or not so portable) electronics.

    7:08 that BGA doesn't look factory, if the seller is a repair shop they may have just swapped out bad APU's then sold them on eBay

    • @TheSpotify95
      @TheSpotify95 Рік тому +4

      Yeah, to be honest I think we have two dead APUs in these consoles. Replacing the APUs would be well off the charts and not worth it, keep the donor boards for other parts.

    That MOSFET you replaced a number of times due to looking short happens on good ones too. After the capacitors discharge, it shows normal again. I have a board with exactly the same symptoms that I still haven't worked out. If I run the console 12v off the bench supply, it cycles drawing up to 1.5A and then restarts, it does this a number of times. Once it's finished cycling, you can power it up and stays on for longer, but still won't stay on properly. I think it could be a Southbridge issue.

    To be fair, you haven't lost out completely on that - the 1TB HDD, 500GB HDD, PSU's, disk drive, and outer cases would net you the £40 if you sold the components on. Plus you have that carry case thing, that they were shipped in! :)

    I always set the seller type to private rather than business, and I check previously sold items. Usually gives you an idea of who you can and can’t trust.

    • @thomasshoup4744
      @thomasshoup4744 Рік тому +2

      I mean I wouldn't say who you can trust. The seller had no description and sold them as non-working consoles. Maybe you can decide what one has a higher chance for being fixed but the seller didn't do anything wrong.

    • @rrwholloway
      @rrwholloway Рік тому +1

      Always check what else they are selling. If it’s lots of electronics, some listed as working and others ‘not tested’ (bull****) then they are dumping what they can’t fix back onto Ebay.

    Mosfets usually blow because of the load, so you should inject at the drain or source depending on the mosfet type

    Inject voltage at the coil after the two mosfets to check if something is shorted after them.

  • @MasterJediSean

    I wonder if that weird thermal paste (that gold crap) has some kind of metallic content and is in someway bridging the caps on the APU. Try cleaning all of that gunk off and try again. Worth a shot. Also did you test the caps on the backside of the southbridge? Cheers Joey!

    Hi Joey, thanks again for a great video! My son's XBOX One S currently powers on, but doesn't display anything on the screen and won't display anything in Safe Mode (although sounds like it's going into Safe Mode). Any ideas on what might be the cause? I'm thinking HDMI issue, although it just happened randomly one day, so maybe also thinking hard drive? Any support you can provide would be useful - he is really upset it's broken and we can't afford to fix it right now at a shop :(

    I have a PS4 classic (EU plug) in my cupboard I got from a client once. I believe it has less than 100hrs played, turns out I'm not much of a console player. But could use a bit of new cooling paste (sort of jet-engined when playing Red Dead 2, but otherwise worked perfectly fine). I don't wanna sell it, for some kid to have a playstation that might need a checkup. Would you be interested?
