The chainsaw is just a tool - in the old days one would use an axe or sickle or whatever comes to hand. The chainsaw does make life a bit easier.

I guess some trees backbud better than others ! I would love to reduce a in ground maple fro 3.5 feet to 2.5 feet . But I’ve had no luck when the branch is about an inch !

I will be doing the same thing over the next week..I'm collecting from several banks and one private residence some older plant materials for my bonsai projects..you are quite an inspiration for so many.

There is no foliage left on the tree? How will it grow back? Amazing trunk though

I'd love to have some of those airlayers you made just to trim those big trees. If you ever need to know of a good home , I'll be that

Sawzall/reciprocating-saw works excellent for getting in the soil and cutting big roots (as well as thick branches/trunks).
The replacement blades are cheap too.

Yes indeed. I had that bush for 36 years and it never occurred to me to make this into a bonsai. But there is a time to do it. Age has helped give it the character.

Mr Chan, please🙇 inform me if these trees that were pruned always received fertilization? Sir, I ask you please🙇 an update on these ancient trees that were used for bonsai: did they take root in the pot?
thank you🙇 very🙇 much... there is a lot of courage😲 in pruning old trees and using them for bonsai... without first doing air layering😲...

    Hi Peter,
    Just finished revision a poem
I just wrote about the Autumn Season. Hope you enjoy it.
    “Autumn”
    By David Z
There is a sound of silence as the song birds left for their winter home.
Autumn has arrived as the leafs changes its colors to signify winter is on its way.
I can feel the stuff cool breeze hollowing through the maple tree as the last two leafs detached themselves from their branches as they flutter to the ground.
Autumn is that time of the year where we give thanks to our abundance harvest that we had been bless with.
I love Autumn as I wait with anticipation to celebrate the birth of Christ.
That is what I love about Autumn.
Have a blessed Autumn Season, Peter.
    🙏🙏🙏
