    Hey, Pete!
    This is the fist video I've ever watched of yours and I must say this is really a good one! (Just ended watching one or two more, but this was the first one)
    I've been following guys like Joe Gilder, Graham Cochrane, Dave Pensado and more for quite some time, and you definitely belong to that class of instructors, of course with your little twist.
    Just wanted to congratulate you for the enlightment you're providing us here!

      Svm777 First of all I just want to say welcome and I'm glad you found my content! Thanks for watching 😊 Also, thank you ever so much for the kind words. Joe and Graham are good pals of mine and I'll never refuse being lumped into the same bowl as Dave Pensado so I really do appreciate it! Please don't hesitate to give me a shout if there's anything I can do for you. Cheers! 🤙🏻😁

      Hey- these guys are all great, though one more guy you should definitely check out is warren huart’s channel, produce like a pro.

    Just discovered your channel this week. I have to say you use the best music to demonstrate your concepts. So many UA-cam mixing tutorials force you to listen to terrible songs.

    Fastest Attack : 0,02ms -> amazing...
    I know my comment won't change the world, but they could invert those attack & release knobs to remove the confusion!
    Thanks Pete, great vid as usual, have a good week-end!

    Dont like the sound on the CLA. UAD sounds great. I just ordered the Warm Audio Hardware box. Do you have any experience with that one?

    The way I came up with to remember the "backwards" Attack & Release knobs is that they are labeled 1 to 7. Think of the 7 as 70 miles per hour. Almost all other compressors are the opposite: turning the Attack & Release knobs clockwise is slower. But with the 1176, clockwise is faster.

    Hey why did you duplicate the harmony track and pan them different ways? Then it just goes back to mono. Unless you did the doubling trick of moving one of the tracks slightly forwards and didn't mention it?

    • @MixBetterNowTV
      @MixBetterNowTV  7 років тому

      Joel Waddell Hey Joel. Yeah, one is nudged. Didn't mention it. Good spot! 😊

    The waves plugins seem to me a trap. Most of them cost very expensive and for me it does not work so well. In most cases they add a bit of "digital sound on the high frequency " which is not ok. If you mix voices that have been recorded with cheap microphones, you already have digital on high frequencies and surely do not want to add them from plugins. All Love for UAD, Plugin Alliance, Acustica Audio!
    What do you think, do you think my theory is correct?

    • @MixBetterNowTV
      @MixBetterNowTV  4 роки тому

      Universal TV I’d say use whatever you like the sound of ✌🏼😁 The only rule of audio is “if it sounds good it is good”. If certain plugins sound better to you than others, then rock those! 🙌🏼 - Pete

    Hi Pete, I love your vids.. I also have a question. I'm just starting to using Studio One 3 because of the integration with console 1. I know you gonna love this question. How do I color my Mixer to look like yours. I click the bottom and I can change the color of the bottom track title. but it does not change the color of the fader block. or what ever you would call it. Also I love your mix on this track. Thanks Rhett...

      Hi there, to the far left of the Mixer you will see a little wrench icon, click that for the Mixer options, you can set the Mixer so that the entire strip is coloured

    Is parallel compression really that useful, or is it just the newest trend in mixing? I've used it and I'm on the fence with it.

    • @MixBetterNowTV
      @MixBetterNowTV  7 років тому

      Michael L. It's absolutely fantastic, Michael. Life changing. I don't see it as a new trend. PComp has been used for decades and is on just about all of your (and my) favorite records. All the Masters like Andrew Scheps, CLA, and Michael Brauer use it religiously. Matter of fact I'll make a video about it soon so you can check it out :)

    Why so many plugins on your tracks? You must love the UAD system with the extra CPU power.

    • @MixBetterNowTV
      @MixBetterNowTV  4 роки тому

      deanc2000 Plugins are simply tools... some sessions have more than others. I sometimes like to have multiple EQ’s or compressors do less heavy lifting by using more than one at times. For example: some plugins do what I call ‘crap out or fart out’. When they’re pushed hard they collapse and react differently to hardware. So I find it can be beneficial to, for example, use serial compression. If I’m looking to compress something 4db, I’ll have 2 comps compress 2db in series so it’s more natural sounding. The added benefit of that too is you can use different comps as color boxes that give different attitude to a source. I choose specific compressors for the color and movement they add to a source. All compressors compress. But many add color and vibe and movement to the track that others do not. Hope that makes sense ✌🏼😎❤️ - Pete

    hello, please use this compressor on your videos! ;) the musics way louder then your voice, has me constantly jumping on the volume control or squinting to hear what youre saying. im guessing you dont watch them which no one does. wierd how we finish stuff and then dont check how they came out. i heard me on spotify the other day and ive been wondering if the mix struggle is worth it considering theyre just gonna chop it up like that. and its not like anyones buying hd, let alone listening to it. a couple hipsters will buy your vinyl if you can afford to press it up... ppl dont even have cd players anymore...sob.

    good video Pete, did you mix this song using your S1 mix template?

    • @MixBetterNowTV
      @MixBetterNowTV  7 років тому

      Thanks! TBH I can't remember if I used my template or if I just built in my busses, routing and effects on the fly (S1 lets me do it so fast compared to Pro Tools its not always necessary). Why, whats up? Question on something?
