Yeah, it's just like driving a motorboat vs driving a car. One steers normal, the other is reversed. Drive both of em enough and it becomes second nature ;)
Newbie here so be gentle. My perception of how to use this compressor is that the lower the input number is on the louder it gets. Does this mean the compressor is working harder when it makes it louder or is it working less? the numbers get bigger turning the knob counter clockwise. But the bigger the number the quiter it’s gets. I’m so confused
I just purchased it but it is now working in my daw,when i open it on the channel it is not giving me any sound. It feels like the signal is no coming through it. I am using Ableton. Can anyone help me? Every other plugin from waves i own works just fine
Sir a request could you please make a video on eq for vocals which gives a complete knowledge about how to eq the vocals and how to get it done professionally so that the output comes like high end recorded song . If uh see my comment and make a video it will so greatfull for me
@@preciseaudioblog hey, -12dB to -18dB is the optimal recommendation but it's very subjective to what your recording. This avoids clipping and audio volume can always be increased later.
bro the compression did not get more intense as you increased the ratio lol. the ratios determine the threshold style and knee degree in conjunction with the input. like you can literally see how less the needle reacts the higher you go on the ratio setting
You are correct that the knee does get harder as the ratio increases on the 1176; that's a cool fact that I didn't know! But it's still a fact that the compression also gets more intense the higher the ratio is set, regardless of if it's clear to see just by watching the needle. The Google definition of intense is: "of extreme force, degree, or strength". The higher the ratio, the higher the degree of compression, the more intense the compression is. Thanks for the comment.
yea for sure 20:1 is still limiting style. in your example the compression lessened the higher you went because you weren't feeding more input into it as you went higher. the 20:1 threshold is much higher than the 4:1 on an 1176 so it needs more input to start working as it should. the fixed threshold thing has its quirks
@@clocks8137What are you talking about? This comp has no treshold but gets active via the input knob. The ratio tells how often it will grab the signal so the 4:1 is less often pulling the signal than 20:1. That has nothing to do with thr so called treshold activity limit.
The 1176 is so fast that even at the slowest setting I'm unable to hear the transient. It's in micro second. The LA2Ais attack is 10 milliseconds. Completely different story. The API2500 goes to 30 ms. There you can hear transient.

The reverse action on the attack and release knobs always muddied my understanding. Your video clears everything up in a short amount of time. Bravo.

Hi, -18dB is optimal for recording (tracking) but -1dB to -6dB is optimal for plugin response (as mentioned by CLA himself). Hope that helps!

Don't understand how to set the treeshold in this compresor...
The input knob sets the threshold. Basically, the more you drive it, the harder it compresses.
