  • This is for the removal of bumper and core support and head lights on my 2014 A8. Most Audi bumpers from about 2010ish and up follow this basic fitment and mounting style. I also take this one step further in removal of the core support unit.

    Positive post always before the Negative....

    • @Bernieman

      You should always remove the negative battery terminal first. The reason for this is that if you accidentally touch the positive terminal to any metal surface, you could create a spark that could potentially damage your electrical system.

    Thanks for the video, my car repairman removed the air deflector and didnt put it back. He said its unnecessary. Can you tell me about it?

    • @howididit7196
      @howididit7196  2 роки тому +1

      Depends on the Air deflector. But on average the deflectors help collect and push or deflect the air and help push the air in the direct path of the coolers/ radiator.This helps the efficiency of the air being now trapped and pushed to the coolers/ Radiator They tend to be more effective at low speeds where you can help funnel the air that is moving very slowly. Simply put, your able to capture more air and direct it for specific use Vs not directing the air and loosing utility of the air. They do help and I do re install mine. However,your car isn't/ Shouldn't have any issues without them

    What is the best way to go about putting the coolant back into the car if you don't have a vacuum filler?

    • @howididit7196
      @howididit7196  2 роки тому

      So I can't add a picture from what I can see to the comments section. But in short. You obviously fill the appropriate about of coolant until the system won't let you. Chances are there is going to be an air pocket. If you leave the cap off the coolant tank over night a lot of times air will find it's way out. There is a coolant air bleeder valve located behind the intermediate firewall on the back firewall. You can see this once you've removed the plastic cover. It's quite obvious. You'll see the coolant lines running up on the back firewall to a junction with a black knob or screw with a giant + carved out in the knob. Once you've gotten to this knob. You'd start the car to get the water pump to run. Turn on the heat full blast make sure the coolant is topped off and then slightly crack the air bleeder knob letting the trapped air escape the system. So so so sorry I can't post pictures. It would be easier if I could. I'll try to make another video showing how to get out the intermediate firewall on the A8. The coolant air bleeder screw is easily seen then . Let me know if this was helpful.

    The headlight mounting supports are part of the radiator support??

    • @howididit7196
      @howididit7196  Рік тому

      Hi Joseph. If I'm understanding the question correctly... yet.. The entire front "core support" is the plastic composite piece just behind the crash bar and bumper. It holds everything from the hood latch assembly to head lights to yes the rad units for the AC and coolant system. Even holds the HX unit for the intercooler.

      @@howididit7196 wow so if the headlight mounting points are damaged the whole core support needs to be replaced

    • @howididit7196
      @howididit7196  Рік тому

      Sorry that I missed this. Depending on the extent of the damage of the mounting points on the core support you would have to replace the outer core support frame. What that said there are more than one supporting points for the head light and while you'd obviously want to use all the mounting points. If you needed to you could make due with just a few.

    Any way I can share a pic with you and you might know where it plugs into ?

      There isn't any way for us to share pictures (that I know of) on here. So try this. Sign up for Audirevolution.net then post a thread in the A8/S8 thread section. Post a picture of what your dealing with and myself and I'm sure others will be able to pop in there to help.
