thanks for this video Rick, I've just made the mod to my own 2015 FR250R and so far very pleased. A few bits of information I'd like to add that others might find helpful: 1. Not sure it was necessary but I took the tank off to get better access to cabling feeding the box where the starter relay resides 2. I couldn't find the Motocell MLG7L in the UK, but I did find a couple of others with the same dimensions of 107mm(L) x 55mm(W) x 85m(H), namely JMT HJ01-20-FP and BS BSLi-02, I bought the latter. As you say in the video, it fits perfectly. 3. for connecting the relay to the auxiliary battery I used 10mm2 cable (corresponds to AWG 8) and crimped on copper terminals with 6mm hole.
Thank you a lot! My te 300 starts even cold in the gear now! U helped me and 10 other people for now! And i thing the number of happy people will increase! Your knowhow will help many riders!
Lol "a rabbit on meth". Thanks for the controlled voltage idea, youve got a great point there. Im about to attempt this on a 2012 xc. Standard "warm start" is just such a joke. Ill give it a shot and try to do a 20v system maybe? Thanks for the video man!
Silly question but I’m not that well versed with electricity. If the auxiliary battery runs out of juice do you still get 12V from the main battery or you get nothing and can’t e-start the bike anymore? My bike has a kick starter so asking out of curiosity more than actual concern.
Hi there Guys, So I just did the 24V "upgrade" using the Anti GRavity 801 and 401, and everything works very well, however it seems like I burn the starter motor real quick, how do you guys get around this challenge.
Thanks a lot, I just did the same setup on my Freeride 250 R and the starter is now perfect, starts on the first push 👌👍 Waiting to see how long the starter motor will last 🤔

Hi Schaef, thanks for your answer, finally I bought one 2 months ago, 1 weekend out, and next, while during riding the engine stop. SOOOOOO FRUSTATED !!!! like you I guess !! Doesn't look like the bendix because mine it's 2017 and the cycle seems to be OK, but I just ordered a new CDI. Maybe check on your
Hi Schaef, aster 3 years of sometime to time use always problem with the starter. How is your installation 24v after 3 years? Couldyousend me please a picture of your wire schematic 24v ? Thanks
Great vid thanks. What bendix are you running? My 2014 250R has a 18/30 bendix, but I see later ones are 16/28. I don't know whether to go 16/28 or/and just 24v. Cheers.
Sound really great budy. I am actually looking to buy a 250 freeride 2 stroke. Do you know from wich time KTM solve the problem in factory ? I am looking a 2013 or 2014 and i am afraid to get this problem. Thanks for answer
It was on the Freeride when I bought it. Works great- no complaints. I do need to richen the needle 1/2 turn in the fall for the denser air, and lean it when it gets warmer again. But that's super easy.
Hey friend, so, did you keep the original starter, or you replaced him with chinese one? Will it works if i keep original KTM starter and just use serial connection of batteries (24V)? My problem is, that starter can not go over the ingine compression, simply, not spin the engine at all. Not helps if I connect him on automobille battery, simply still no power. Thank you for help!
@@rschaef3322 Hey, i changed brushes in my starter, all 4 bushings and lube it well and now it start perfect. I have old bendix (250Hrs) and i use cheap battery (16 $) with only 50 crank Amps. And it starts perfect. So I don't see any reason to make 24V mod. I will only make a wet mod to keep it alive longer
Just did this, took half an hour, bike now starts, great idea, thanks 👍
Awesome, thanks for posting. Had horrible starting issues. No longer.

Thanks dude, I've got the same issue. Just working through it at the moment. But my starter was doing the same thing so think this might be a go.
Well done I invented this in March 2017 but now use just one LiPo 4s pack on my 08 450. More voltage or more amps either way gets it started.
I just did this and it absolutely works. I posted a video on my IG page
This is very helpful, thank you, and I ask what tenders are you using? I’m gonna try to do this this weekend.

Skyrich is thicker, but inside it is thinner, just the same as the lfp7 landport, it just have spacers between baterry packs and body plastics
can you mix a lipo battery if you have a lithium as the main battery

You're welcome.
In my opinion it shouldn't hurt it more than the endless cranking and kick backs hurt it.
At least it starts!
Thank you :)
Two Antigravity 4 cell SC-1 will fit in space of the one stock battery.

Can I do this modification while still running the stock bendix and starter?

They never did solve it. I think after '14 they just improved the bendix to a welded shaft.
Good vid tho :) thanks
Why did you choose the Electron Carb instead of the SmartCarb2? Is it worthy?

Use whatever starter you like. Chinese one was crap- last year I rebuilt my KTM one and it works great with the 24V.

What is the name of the clutch?
Found it. Clake One Light Clutch
That bike has all the issues mine does! Stupid freerides
Cool mod but i still don`t understand too many wires in your video .
One extra wire, couldn't be simpler!
Verbal
What is the size of the rear tire?
