Zakk's magic is his sense of melody. Which everyone overlooks.
Man don't get me wrong. Zakk is definetly one of them Guitar Gods. But last 10 years or so he just shreds mindlessly. I mesn some of the early BLS albums are so melodic and he plays with so much feel. Not to mention Pride and Glory. But now he just makes it a point to shred a 10 min souless pentatonic gibberish everytime he picks up the Guitar.
I was so excited for Book of Shadows 2 but it just solo after solo of a million notes with no soul at all. Also he is a killer Pianist as well which dont happen that often too these days.
And the worst part is his tone nowadays. I mean overdriven guitar with that ugly sounding Phaser on top of it. He ain't the same Zakk for me no more :(
