Awesome lick and awesome job breaking it down. Another incredible outro solo is Tonight from Diary of a Madman album. Randy just rips it up. I just wish they didn’t fade it out.
Haha! I'm in the same boat, could never understand how you can play that last part so fast. I saw that video yesterday and noticed that right away too. Lightbulb moment right there. Watching Zakk's picking hand still looks like magic though. Time to practice that lick now, thanks for the lesson!
Thanks for the excellent breakdown Mr. Todd, also worth noting Zakk uses the Wah on the final note to give it more emphasis…. seeing him shred so effortlessly in his now “mature” age, is so inspirational!
Good stuff Leon! I remember spending months on this when I was in the Ozzy tribute band but Troy Grady hadn't been invented back then (lol) so I had no idea about pick slanting. No wonder it kicked my ass!
Awesome job! I've gotten bad tabs from guitar world Joe Satriani back in late 80s it was the song Surfing with the Alien I finally figured out that the skipped one measure in tabs luckily I learned by ear when I was young so I found the missing peices. 🤘
The first time I heard this lick was from the Brothers Johnson by Louis Johnson in the 70's on the song "Strawberry Letter 23" and then I heard Zakk play it and I figured only the top echelon of players could perform this lick but now I can play it too thank you so much for demonstrating the impossible. 🎶🎵🎼
Zakk is the man. Love that song and what a great lesson. ♥️🤘♥️ Man, what is that guitar. Love that color and that ebony fretboard. I love single cuts. ♥️🤘♥️ Be well and safe my down under friend ♥️🤘♥️
Aww, hope your kitty is nice and happy! Oh btw, I remember you mentioning you had picked up a dbx160 compressor. Do you have a demo of that coming soon?
Here's a question for ya!! Can you use the FC12 to send MIDI messages to an amp head that can have its settings saved. I'm getting the itch to try some other wizardry😂
Here's the crazy thing I actually recently learned. This video is how Zakk plays it live. But if you listen to the studio version on 0.25x speed, during the economy part, you'll actually hear he squeezes a G note (Gb/F# technically; 15th fret of E string) in there. So he's actually playing descending 5s instead of 16th notes, so it really is superhuman unfortunately. I believe it's E18 E15 E13 B15 E13 then everything's moved up a whole step again.
I noticed that too. Been trying to learn that last run and it never sounded right the way Zakk Wylde plays it live. Slowed it down and I can definitely hear the 15th and 17th fret in between. Zakk Wylde never seems to acknowledge this in any of his lessons. And quite honestly, you’re the first comment I’ve seen mention this anywhere on the internet so far. I thought I was going crazy.
Awesome.mate. How about tryimg the What Keeps Me Loving You solo from the great Marc Diglio and XYZ. Also gptta have the best rock tone in the business.. Been chasing his tone on my Axe for years.
Man, the tone is amazing. How is it so good and fluent. It doesnt sound like a lot of distortion at all, yet seems like the notes are flowing. I always seem to struggle with playing with low distortion, seems like i always need to put more effort in. Is there some kind of trick to it?
I am learning this solo RIGHT NOW. It's like you're reading my mind, LT.
Did you see the playthrough he uploaded recently? SO GOO!
@@LeonTodd of course I did, that’s why I went back to try to learn the shreddy bits of the solo!

Yeah that's a great one. So many tasty solos have been ruined by fade outs
Great lesson! Of the metal guitarists, Zakk is by far my favourite. His Ozzy output is so melodic.
THANK YOU brother!! I've ALWAYS wondered how the heck that was played. Btw...that tone.....*chef's kiss
Chorus and pitch detune reunited at last!
Superb! Fantastic tone
Thanks a lot!
I love this ! Thanks I've always love this solo, but I've never bother to learn it. Love seeing one of the new Kitty's 🥰

Thanks much Leon I was actually practicing these licks of course using pull offs more than I should - after your lesson I'm on it - great job

This is really one badass solo segment
He’s also on the bridge pickup on the play through video not the neck pickup

Good ear dude
Great video. This whole solo is amazing. Thanks Leon. Have a great weekend
Thanks, you too! Zakk is an animal
Great playing and tone as always man!
A beautiful cat 😻and some Wylde Ozzy goodness 😁🎸🤘🏻
Awesome lesson! Thanks Leon! Beautiful kitty!!! ;)
Lupin is a handsome lad isn't he!
@@LeonTodd He sure is! Ironically, we have a brown "Ragdoll" cat. Lupin appears to have some traits of that breed also! ;) Cheers!

Early 2000's LP Custom! Beast of a thing
I see Zakk, I click. Great vid. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for doing this. It's so awesome and helpful 👍👍👍 Love your channel.
You are so welcome!
such a good riff
Amazing lesson. Kitty made me want to subscribe as well.
:D
I dunno if a single practice session goes by without jamming on this tune. Solo is heaps of fun to play. Also I want an SPX90
He uses economy picking in Miracle Man as well. Thanks for help!
Yeah that's another great study!
awww such a cute catto
Brilliant thankyou for sharing this video

2:32 Holy crap.... that was a fast 4 repetitions!
LOL
Troy Grady shout out... a man of culture, I see.

@@IUJacob youre the first person to validate my experience! I salute your attention to detail!
@@scottrubin84 I still can’t play it at that speed either way 😂
Is that a greco or tokai?
Thanks buddy
No problem 👍
Leon
I’m ready for lessons please
Perhaps 1-2 times a month ? Video lesson ?

Marc is such a sick player! Mega chops, mega tone!
Finally we discovered the true stavro Blofed.
Awesome vid. Question, have you had any experience with a peavey jsx amp? I just got one for $500
Yeah but I haven't heard one in ages. Great deal!
zakk does not get enough credit for his huge riffs and tasty solos .
He's got the funny biker Dad chic down so good it's easy to forget he hits those strings like Mike Tyson at his peak. Savage.
@@LeonTodd I’ve met him a few times. Great guy. Got to check out his live guitars when he was with Gibson.
@@barry3045 that's awesome! He's always come across as a genuine guy.
My god, man. Get a toggle switch knob. Drill and tap your favorite D&D die or something. Great lesson, though!

Thanks! Using the Axe-Fx model of a Boogie Mark IV which is super tight and controlled, then plenty of chorus, pitch detune and delay
@Leon Todd , would you be willing to share your Zakk patch for my FM9?? 😃 I already have the Les Paul and EMGs!!!
Zack doesn't identify as a "they/them" otherwise the lesson seems accurate.
You play it the way they play it? Isn't Zack just one person?
Is there bits of spoken audio missing in this? Odd pauses?
Regardless great lesson mate!
Probably forgot to cut it out. Legend regardless.
Yeah that one slipped through the cracks. Don't edit under the influence of tea kids.
LOL
Checkout Panos Antonio Arvanitis's channel too (if you haven't already). Guy is amazing at this sort of picking.
You think this is tough ? Haha you should investigate the six tuplet run at the end of the Crazy Babies solo…..yikes 😵💫
Give me a few more months of punishment :p
Nice to see cat. Even nicer to see and hear that lick. So tasty.
Small hands cant play les paul..
Are you sure he uses the pronouns they/them?
They as in the band
