Brother dont think he did nothing in Afghan, when ISAF was there they kept the peace and helped the local populace nothing is futile if done with good intent, we might not have achieved our objectives but it will be remembered in that land what we did and it will make a difference it might take 100 years but the security we provided and the friendliness has not been forgotten I assure you It wasnt for nothing. Amen and rest in peace to your uncle.

This song was appropriately used at the end of Black Hawk down because we had a pilot that was captured by Somali rebels, and they played this over the scene where we were announcing over the radio waves, and in the air that he has not forgotten, and that we will come and get him at the end of the film

I went to the cinema, on the scoreboard, Black Hawk down, the film was postponed several times because it was so brutal, it made me lose sight of it, so of course I watched it, that was many years ago and I still remember remember, the film was over, the credits were playing, the lights came back on, no one stood up, everyone watching was glued to their seats. At that moment everyone became aware of what war actually means, a magnificent masterpiece in my eyes, and accompanied by this all-pervading music, you have to see it.

Gortoz a ran ("I'm waiting") is a poetic song written and performed by the Breton singer Denez Prigent, from his third studio album Irvi, released in 2000. Released as a single, the song in Breton, recorded as a duet with Lisa Gerrard, attracted a wide audience. In 2001, Gortoz a Ran was included in the soundtrack of the American film Black Hawk Down by Ridley Scott, in 2012 in the film The Lords by Olivier Dahan, in 2016 in the American series South Park and in 2020 in the American series Hawaii 5.0
In 1999, Denez wrote and recorded Gortoz a ran, a poetic song closer to written than oral literature; therefore it is not a Gwerz as one might believe (the gwerz involving a narrator and dialogues between the protagonists of the story). This rather dark and melancholic song, with a blues feel, opens and concludes the album Irvi (Breton name for paths submerged at high tide which connect an island to the land). This album, inspired by the sea in particular, is recorded near the pink granite coast, in Plestin-les-Grèves. A year after its release and its nomination for the Victoires de la Musique.
