I think the pink cakes are meant to be a version of the Swedish Princess cake, which is traditionally green instead of pink. The almond one looks delicious and would be my choice out of the two.
I lived in Sweden for 4 years and love Princess cake!
The little pink cakes are so cute! I would sooo enjoy one straight out of the freezer instead of thawing it.
Yummy review! I like almond and I like cream. If I get to Ikea I may pick up the first cake you tried.
Thanks for a great review.
Yes... Kevin you are correct... marzipan can be quite firm... it is often formed into little shapes and colored to look like little fruits or animals... it is very rich and sweet...
Have you tried making Swedish Cinnamon Buns (Kanelbullar)? The recipe I had tried wasn't authentic. It was OK, but I'm going to try a different one next time. They kind of like Cinnamon Buns but find up in line a knot and cardamom is used as well as pearl sugar.
They don't sound familiar.
Kevin you’re thinking of marzipan and it can be hard or soft, either way its delicious 😋
The almond cake is a base that you can put ice cream and berries onto. There are several cool recipes that turns the cake into something uptown on the Almondy site.
Those pink cakes are so darling!
I agree!
Thanks for the review! They dont seem to sell the pink cakes anymore at my Ikea (New Haven, Ct) and this is very depressing. Are they still available where you are?
I don't know. We have never returned to IKEA after buying these.
I can’t find the Marzipan cakes anymore at my IKEA 😔
Ditto and this is very dissappointing
I happen to love the Ikea Almondy just for the reason it's not sweet hahaha... how different everyone is.
The individual cakes would be nice for a small dinner party... they are so pretty and fancy enough...
I agree!
These look so yummy!!
Ikea really want some of those 🤣
Wow they look delicious! I wish we had that at our IKEA, but sadly not 💞🥰❤️ Come by and say hello if you get a chance, we'd love to share what we've been up to 😊❤️
Almondy is worshiped in Sweden.
Interesting!
