Драгомир Дончев yea.. an option to turn off the AI 😉at the same time if we use the 40 mp for lansldscape, the details are incomparable and the aperture mode is just awesome for night shots with a bookeh effect
@@snaztastickobe dude you have 4 cameras on 3 main 3x also 5x and a monochrome camera plus like another one for low light and you get that for just $250 less than the xsmax
Of course someone would choose the P20 Pro because of the control you’d have over the camera but for the “average/everyday” person they’d choose the iPhone because it’s a great “snap and go camera”. Most people don’t want to sit there for 15 mins trying to adjust everything (iso, white balance, shutter speed, etc..)
Thats what a DSLR is for. Personally, I want a Phone for quick snap and go photos and a DSLR when I want or know I'm gonna play around with settings for a bit like on vacation. But I get your point and if you don't want or can't afford a separate DSLR then having the option to play around with settings on the phone might be preferred by some.
The p20 pro is a snap and go kinda phone you just have to turn ai off and have it on 10 mega pixels and you will get shots the same as iPhone X's or even better . This photo comparison has been done wrong , an example being when he took a picture of that person feet on the grass , it was unnatural in colour because the ai had adjusted it to bring out the colour of the grass more but unfortunately applied that's same effect on the woman's feet and jeans ,making it look so saturated and colourful.
I bought the P20 Pro and even turning off the beauty mode... all selfies are completely white... I look like a vampire. All backgrounds always shining white on Huawei and there's no option (like in IPhone) to choose where to focus your selfies. I hate my brand new Huawei P20 Pro.

I am no Apple fan, but the XS clearly obliterated the P20 Pro in this comparison and the P20 Pro camera really seems overrated especially by DxOmark, but night mode is really good.
Yes either the people at DxOmark were paid off, or they don't now what to look for. On their own portrait images you can clearly see that both the Pixel 2 and the iPhone X produced much better detail in the face of the girl. The P20 pro applies a unhealthy amount of blur to the skin, even with all Ai and beauty mode stuff turned down.
+MSi GS70 6QE So they also can't set up the camera at DxOmark then I guess? Because their portraits all showed smoothed out skin. LOL And isn't the phone supposed to take good shots on auto instead of you having to endlessly tweak settings to get something ok looking out of it?
Just scrolled through the comments under P20Pro in DxO marks, you will see most people actually disagree to the score. P20Pro is king of night shot, and that’s it. Other than that, it sucks. Those including day shot, portrait shot, video recording, macro shot, chip, and OS.
DxOMark even gave P20 Pro a higher video score than the iPhone... go figure... Funny how they test all the videos in 1080p, and 4K does not affect the score, but the night mode on p20 did affect the score....

Agree with the quality being better on the XS Max, but I’m ready to compromise with slightly different quality with the P20 as let’s face it, it’s half the price and can’t afford to have this new iPhones any longer, and no matter what photos still awesome.

Thanks for showing the difference specifications on Night Mode. A lot of reviews don't even bother with this mode and assume that's all the P20 Pro has. The Huawei has a lot more going for it than a simple point and shoot.
If you are not a mobile photographer hobbyist go to iPhone Xs max but if you are interested to mobile photography P20 pro is best for many more camera features like Master AI, handheld nightmode, silky water mode, light painting, car light painting, star track, monochrome sensor, telephoto lens, full manual mode, and many more options.
for me the p20 has one problem for me. to much software interfering if that makes sense. I mean it looks pleasing at first glance but yeah... at that 4:03 are you sure you didn't photoshop yourself in on the p20 pro hahaha
Huawei managed to tweak their camera software processing binary to excel in DxOMark camera test under their partnership, DxOMark posted the review before Huawei announce P20 series. The pictures aren't that good by pure photography standard, it just looks better in thumbnails size lol, well their night mode really shines, but that's all...
P20 Pro''s huge sensor still gives it much more versatility for bokeh. Love the fact that you can stand 15ft away from the subject and get the full figure with portrait mode which at times, it's hard to tell if it was taken by a DSLR or not. Wish more phones would do this.
Quantum Lien I honestly hate the new HDR trend that everybody is loving. The P20 does have better contrasting (less HDR) and that’s how professional cameras take photos. The downside to the P20 is it’s over saturation of colors. So I’m definitely choosing iPhone for its color accuracy
Coming from a really passionate guy for technology in general (meaning no biased in any way), I find the P20 pro camera to be way overrated. Despite being best-in-class when it comes to low light scenarios and having a killer zoom mode, the rest of it, including video recording, it’s way below other flagships quality and I can’t understand why people keep saying it has the best overall camera. Some say it gets better results when turning AI on, but that’s exactly the opposite to the argument of “its better because it has built in manual control”. I sincerely don’t think it deserves the title of best camera in a smartphone at all (DXoMark can’t be trusted anymore IMO). For me, the MAX, the note 9/S9 and the upcoming pixel 3 are the true contenders, each having its ups and downs, so in the end, it comes to personal preference depending on the sacrifices one can asume: - Best portrait -> Team Pixel - Best point and shoot and best overall video quality - > Team iPhone. - Best night shot and audio recording -> Team Galaxy I guess it’s hard to really sentence there’s only one better smartphone camera these days...
I'm really passionate about tech too but my conclusions are the opposite. The P20 Pro is the most versatile camera phone. Here's why. Its default setting is sharpened and saturated contrast photos. But you can change the colour to be neutral similar to Apple and Samsung if you prefer. The other phones don't offer that automatic choice. The differences in ideal light in the end are really small. But as you noted the P20 Pro is untouched in low light and zoom. It does lag in selfies because of too much smoothing and not stabilization in 4k video. For me I'd rather have really good low light and zoom rather than selfies and video as I rarely use the latter.
I noticed in your videos that you do not disable those selfie effects that leave the skin looking like a painting. It would be cool to show with and without. great video
Dude to tell you honestly the P20 Pro is beautiful on the iPhone you are doing the photo in the photo so the iPhone comes out beautifully from Huawei it's not fair ..
Why do these internet "experts" never use the Pro Mode on p20 pro? With the right settings you always get better results. Yes I was able to test the iPhone xs and especially the portrait mode is awesome. Still I get same results with a higher resolution with the p20 pro mode.
Both good but i prefer p20pro because they give options.. AI can be toggle on or off..manual mode..light trail mode..night mode..it just offer more.. in term of video..huawei sucks at stabilisation in 4k...but i rarely shoot video and if i do i only shoot in 1080p and it's only for 30-60 seconds
This guy hasn't turned off the ai mode which optimises shots for example making the sky more blue or the grass more green depending on what it picks up in the image. This gives the photos a unnatural colour and impacts on contrast. Look at any other video of comparisons between the iphone Xs and p20 pro photography, the p20 comes out on top or looks similar in shots.
When are you going to play that bass in the back? Also cool video it would have been nice tho if you also stressed the mics somehow with loud music or something during the video recording so that we could hear which records audio better.
/s thats a wheel and a brake disc, not a tire and rotor. haha jks love your videos keep up the great work, I would like to see a comparison of the Max and XZ2P though
Great video!! I love the iPhone XS. Apple really knocked it out the park with smart HDR. I’m very surprised the iPhone bested the P20. Regular images and video have much more dynamic range than the P20. Only win for P20 is the night mode. Let’s hear all the whiners with their bullshit, “this isn’t fair” “Apple paid you”, “you Don’t know how to use the P20 camera”. CALL WHINE-1-1 for the excuses. Here’s the worlds smallest 🎻 for you. 🤣
I am also a p20 pro user, you are doing it wrong, sorry but u don't need to fake this, change some settings first and then try it out, it is not your first video where you're wrong. Sorry Bro, good luck further.
Redish hue on Apple and Yellowish hue on P20 Pro. Ofcourse Apple is red and P20 Pro is Chinese. Chinese have yellowish hue in skin color, while some apples are red. rofl.
If iPhone ’s overall score is 90 and Huawei is 89.99, I will choose Huawei. With the $500 price difference, you bet, it could bring me to scenic places.
The reason u see that kind cloud on iphone xs is that because the heavy HDR processing, that does not necessarily mean the cloud is look like that in real life, and not guarantee natural look.
Have you used 40mp or 10mp mode on the P20 Pro ? Because I noticed that the dynamic range is very bad in 40mp mode, and slightly better in 10mp mode. I've the P20, not Pro, so a 12mp camera helped by a 20mp b&w camera, and the dynamic range is very good, as good as the iPhone XS's.
iPhone still has the less blurry photo. So all you have to do on iPhone is edit and adjust the brightness lol. Also, iPhone has third party apps. I use that P20 low light feature on my iPhone all the time. It’s called Cortex Cam. And it allows me to capture for up to 2 minutes if I wanted to. The longer the capture, the more detail it will gather. The result is a genuine 27 megapixel photo. It’s beats the P20’s low light. And yes it compensates for handshake just like the P20. It’s the same thing. So for capabilities, for go iPhone. For native app in all daylight situations, go for iPhone. No reason to go for the P20 at all for any camera reasons
Good review. The iPhone destroyed the P20 pro. Yes it's much more expensive, but it does do the best overall of any phone currently on the market. The P20 pro is only better for two things: Zoom and night shot. But for the more commonly taken photos or videos the Xs is a lot better.
The differences in ideal light are marginal but did you see the low light difference? That's the only comparison that deserves the destroy award. iPhone got its ass handed. And there was no zoom comparison because there is no point. So marginal difference in ideal light, huge difference in low light and zoom. I'm giving this one to the P20 Pro.
That front facing camera on the P20 made your head look tiny compared to your body. At any rate Xs beats the P20 hands down on camera performance except night mode. It looks good on the P20z
R. I. P. p20 pro especially the xs kills it in colors, details, portrait mode and highlights. I owned p20 pro and I think nothing can still touch it in night mode especially if you are taking pictures of buildings, scenes at night but when you use it in bright conditions the exaggrated beauty mode kills the portraits, the contrast boost for the sake of details kills the colors and there you have a lot of blown highlights. I now own pixel 2 xl which is I think the best camera phone which excels at portraits and scene pics especially in good lit conditions. At night it is not as good as the p20 pro but it still does the job. I am waiting now for the pixel 3 xl and make my final decision after comparing it with the iphone xs max.
With flagship devices.. the comparison should be about what can they do.. and who does it better. Because if you are a Huawei user, u can understand the camera app easily and know how to get that perfect colour or exposure. And u didn't come across zooming, Or full manual mode, Or the black and white picture, or the night mode. That's why in general, I think the Huawei can do much much more than the iPhone. As full auto mode, nothing can beat the iPhone.. but that's only work for those who understand little about photography.
If you’re into photography, then you shoot in RAW. and the P20 Pro has terrible RAW performance. Pictures come out with a green vignette that takes some much effort to correct in post, and in addition to that, the sensor displays strong purple fringing in high contrast areas. Neither of these are problems on the iPhone, which has accurate and uniform RAW files straight out of camera. The same kind of color grading that I’ll do to an iPhone’s RAW file in Adobe Lightroom Mobile in 5 minutes takes 30 minutes in full desktop Adobe Photoshop using brushes to mask the ugly green vignette.
The AI was turned off but the colour setting was not on neutral. You can change the colour saturation on the P20 Pro to be neutral like Apple but you can't change the colour on Apple to boost it, if you prefer those types of images. P20 Pro is more versatile.
In this case we should keep two different people in mind first snappers and 2nd the people that know their device capabilities and take photos with passion for the first group iphone is better and for the 2nd p20 pro really does the job

I have the regular P20. Despite finding the camera good at most times. I can't help but be annoyed by saturation, exposure and too deep colours. The XS takes more naturally looking photo's and represents the colours much better. Huawei's AI mode is useless as well. Reason i'm switching back over to IOS after having had an Android after so many years is IOS and everything just works and feels buttery smooth, AT ALL TIMES.

We have to admit that smartphone's portrait mode is sooo good nowadays.
I noticed in your videos that you do not disable those selfie effects that leave the skin looking like a painting.
It would be cool to show with and without.
great video
That's exactly what I was waiting for 👍🏼
Dude to tell you honestly the P20 Pro is beautiful on the iPhone you are doing the photo in the photo so the iPhone comes out beautifully from Huawei it's not fair ..
Totally agreed... but as a owner of Huawei p20 pro must say this phone is a beast in manual mode and BnW mode is uneatable.
It's just so easy to fix the problems you mentioned in the p20 pro.
Why do these internet "experts" never use the Pro Mode on p20 pro? With the right settings you always get better results. Yes I was able to test the iPhone xs and especially the portrait mode is awesome. Still I get same results with a higher resolution with the p20 pro mode.
Because many users use auto mode and iPhone only has auto mode.
When taking outdoor shots did you keep the p20 AI on or turn it off?
I use both of these as my daily. P20 pro has the better cam but often the portraits are overly processed
When u put p2pro to 4K, it looks like zombie walking around 😂😂😂
This guy hasn't turned off the ai mode which optimises shots for example making the sky more blue or the grass more green depending on what it picks up in the image. This gives the photos a unnatural colour and impacts on contrast. Look at any other video of comparisons between the iphone Xs and p20 pro photography, the p20 comes out on top or looks similar in shots.
nice video and i love your work. Can we see a comparison between the XZ3/XZ2 Premium vs iPhone XS please?
When are you going to play that bass in the back? Also cool video it would have been nice tho if you also stressed the mics somehow with loud music or something during the video recording so that we could hear which records audio better.
/s thats a wheel and a brake disc, not a tire and rotor.
haha jks love your videos keep up the great work, I would like to see a comparison of the Max and XZ2P though
haha i totally messed that up and deserver this comment! Thanks man! I'm going to do something with the XZ3 = )
Great video!! I love the iPhone XS. Apple really knocked it out the park with smart HDR.
I’m very surprised the iPhone bested the P20. Regular images and video have much more dynamic range than the P20. Only win for P20 is the night mode.
Let’s hear all the whiners with their bullshit, “this isn’t fair” “Apple paid you”, “you
Don’t know how to use the P20 camera”.
CALL WHINE-1-1 for the excuses.
Here’s the worlds smallest 🎻 for you. 🤣
I listen to this guy Moniz as I watch the photos of both phones, he made no sense at all. Hey man, let the EXPERTS judge on which is better.
0:54 - Even the sky agrees - thumbs up, leave it a like to the XS!
Obviously you don't know how to use the P20Pro camera ... disliked video already
You need to bring back the karate intro.
Change the settings on the P20 Pro and then post another review. The outcome will be a lot difference. Cheers
Have you used 40mp or 10mp mode on the P20 Pro ? Because I noticed that the dynamic range is very bad in 40mp mode, and slightly better in 10mp mode. I've the P20, not Pro, so a 12mp camera helped by a 20mp b&w camera, and the dynamic range is very good, as good as the iPhone XS's.
iPhone xs has better dynamic range and colour profile...but night mode on p20 pro is too good
iPhone still has the less blurry photo.
They are both good cameras, Nice review
Good review. The iPhone destroyed the P20 pro. Yes it's much more expensive, but it does do the best overall of any phone currently on the market. The P20 pro is only better for two things: Zoom and night shot. But for the more commonly taken photos or videos the Xs is a lot better.
The differences in ideal light are marginal but did you see the low light difference? That's the only comparison that deserves the destroy award. iPhone got its ass handed. And there was no zoom comparison because there is no point. So marginal difference in ideal light, huge difference in low light and zoom. I'm giving this one to the P20 Pro.
iPhone for me. In every single case (except night mode)
That front facing camera on the P20 made your head look tiny compared to your body.
At any rate Xs beats the P20 hands down on camera performance except night mode. It looks good on the P20z
4:29 the p20's contrast is letteraly lagging , look at the left , those trees !
Everyone that’s defending the p20 camera please stop. This wasn’t even close, the iPhone destroyed it
R. I. P. p20 pro especially the xs kills it in colors, details, portrait mode and highlights.
Is that your car in the photos? Cause I am jealous
With flagship devices.. the comparison should be about what can they do.. and who does it better.
Because if you are a Huawei user, u can understand the camera app easily and know how to get that perfect colour or exposure.
And u didn't come across zooming,
Or full manual mode,
Or the black and white picture, or the night mode.
@ Matthew Moniz Did you turned off the AI on huawei? If yes then I'll go for iphone xs max.
Thanks man keep it up😍
I have a P20 Pro and doesn't make that bad photos, I don't know if you had AI on or what did you do, but that photos doesn't seem P20 Pro photos.
Who else is watching on a XS Max?
No one. Its too expensive. Rip off, minor upgrade from last years model
@@vrizwan so are a lot of other phones. Just the iPhone costs more lol
@@RennieAsh right on 2019 I'm guessing it's that reach £2000+
Where’s your twin?? I love those videos!
hah thanks! He will be backj in the near future!
Photo: p20 pro
Video and selfies: iph XS
Hey matt! Hope you have a great day!
Also, whats the music in the background?
Damn! Imagine turning on night more inside a pitch dark club
Trying to save iPhone XS in this Camera Comparison test We all know That Huawei P20 Pro Have The best Photography takes thats Why He Turn OFF The AI MODE to Save iPhone XS in This Competition Somehow ,, The Only Mistake is ( Why You Turn OFF the AI MODE on Huawei P20 Pro? )*** What's the Reason? Sponsored? This Camera Comparison Test, can be Believable and Real if you Answer my Question ok? Next Time Don't try to Turn Off Camera Feature like AI on Any Other Brand ok:)
Dude the best part about p20 pro(for me) is the night mode and the stupidily fast charging.
Waited for this one
I have the regular P20. Despite finding the camera good at most times. I can't help but be annoyed by saturation, exposure and too deep colours. The XS takes more naturally looking photo's and represents the colours much better. Huawei's AI mode is useless as well. Reason i'm switching back over to IOS after having had an Android after so many years is IOS and everything just works and feels buttery smooth, AT ALL TIMES.
You've not taken pictures well on the p20 Pro pal.
Did you shot at 40mpx or 10mpx?
10mpx is much better in HDR Matthew Moniz
Huawei P20 PRO is the best smartphone camera even now!
I thought the p20 did so much better than iPhone with exception of the 4k video recording, have to give that one to iPhone.
I’m watching this from my iPhone XMax 😂
You should try p20 pro front camera video, it is very good
Why everyone, except Apple users, has obsession to praise their phones in these comparison videos :^D
I think a little bit more contrast than the iPhone and a little bit less than the P20 Pro would be perfect
Dude I seriously think you are doing something wrong cuz my p20pro has EXCELLENT dynamic range, the video quality is not mind-blowing but the photos are perfect bruh
Look = IPhone Xs Max
Camera = P20 Pro
So which one takes the first place ?
You tell me
iPhone Xs destroys every other phone with dynamic range
I think also iPhone Xs max slightly better photos and also thing video is great
I love your videos my friend, but i always ask myself why you do not that complet? like front cam video, (p20 pro have two diferent algle modo). 4k 60fps from Iphone, front selfie on diferent cenarious, pleaseee
