Repotting my PINK PRINCESS PHILODEDNRON and adding a wood stake for this new half moon leaf!

  • My Pink Princess Philodendron finally grew a beautiful almost half moon pink leaf!!! I was going to propagate it but now I decided to repot it and stake it up to let this beauty grow!! So excited about this latest leaf development 😄
What are your thoughts on this plant? Worth the hype or not? I thought it was reverting because it hadn't grown any majorly pink leaves for almost a year but here we are now celebrating this (almost) half moon!
Do you use moss poles and keep them moist, or do you prefer wood stakes, or other materials for supporting your climbing plants?
Some topics mentioned in this video: cellular vs genetic mutation (what is a pink princess philodendron?), moss poles vs wooden stakes, will my pink princess philodendron grow pink leaves? is my pink princess philodendron reverting? stable vs unstable variegation
Thanks so much for watching and cheers to making new plant friends :)

I've been moving away from moss poles too. Keeping them moist seems like such an unreasonable task.

I use similar wooden stakes. Because they’re heavier and can be unwieldy, I use a cheap wood burning tool to melt holes in the pot & zip tie the stake in place before potting the plant. It makes a huge difference in stability and peace of mind

I have the same Feeling about the moss poles.
To me they are Kind of mold breeding grounds if done wrong.
And in a bit of moist Environment ( i am in the Southwest of Germany (Black Forest)) the air roots still appear on my Philodendron verrucosum Incence and it is enough if you ever want to root it in Water or Soil or whatnot .

You don’t have to keep moss pole moist. The air roots just need something to hang on to. I don’t mist my moss poles and my plants are doing good 👍🏾

I find your videos very nice and relaxing to watch and sometimes being a bit "clumsy" is part of that too....hahaha
Maybe it will be easier if you next time two small screws through the plastic pot into the wooden stick.
Then it is very firmly in your pot !!

So I have a tetrasperma on a moss pole, but it's homemade moss pole. I used plastic mesh chicken wire and filled it with moss. The arial roots have started growing into the moss itself and have gotten so long that they're now shooting out the other side. All the while the plants leafs have gotten progressively larger and more fenestrated. And I don't mist the pole, I water it whenever I water the plants itself.

I got a round stake and tied coconut fibre with spagnum moss with string tightly and tied my princess on to it and roots developed all the way up the stem on the pole which I kept moist. I have more new growth on the plant than ever before.

Omg I just bought a pathos I was getting ready to make a moss pole but I haven’t gotten the supplies I’ve been torn on whether to use moss or wood…the thing that scares me is the idea that I’m going to have to replace the pole later because wood Rita

    • @aliesefitch1099
      @aliesefitch1099 3 роки тому

Cause the wood rots? I have wondered about the same thing, but feel like that shouldn't be that big of a deal cause it takes quite a while for wood to rot and the moss in a moss pole would eventually rot too. Ya know?
