Winter Bushcraft Hike - No Sleeping Bag - Natural Shelter in Snowfall - Lavvu Poncho
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 лют 2020
- Out Bushcrafting and hiking off trail for two days in the snow. First night I slept a couple hours at a time then went up and tended to the fire. Had to go get another log in the early hours and got some nice shot at the night sky with the moon etc. -10 celsius. I love the air when its this cold. If you wonder why I put snow on the saw handle: it froze to ice during the night: Check out the different performance sawing with it day one and two! Weight and stability.
ATTENTION: Being under an uproot can be very dangerous. Never take shelter under a fresh uproot if your life doesn't depend on getting out of the wind etc. It can be very dangerous as they can snap shut again if the tree breaks and weight balance shift. This was an old one that's been like this for more than a year but its still not something I advise people to do. Being around widow makers, even though not directly above, is never 100% safe. It is a calculated risk. As everything is really but sometimes we forget that. A snow bivouac for example. They can be very dangerous if the air intake in the roof gets blocked by snow when you sleep etc. Not to speak about the car ride to site on icy roads alone in the wild without cell phone coverage. In short: This is an emergency shelter. Not to be tried for fun, even though I did it, it was my choice alone. Thanks for watching!
As always I bring materials to site for crafting if not on my own or friends land.
Bushcraft is a skillset. It's not mandatory as a bushcrafter to go naked to the woods and trying to survive. To do that every week is a unrealistic fantasy. The way I see it, bushcraft skills make hiking and camping more efficient, lightweight and interesting... and not to forget FUN!.
Grilling in this way attracts hungry animals in the forest , i prefer McDonald's
Thank îuîu

Well said.
Exactly!
I haven’t paid for cable in sooooo long dude all I pay for is UA-cam and Netflix nowadays I used to pay for all the streaming services but now I’m down to just 2 for shows and movies lol

I'd rather be doing the camping than watching it ,but since I don't have any time to do it right now, this provides a good vicarious experience.
Just love watching him being completely silent. No explaining every single step, just doing.
Totally agreed 👍
Living in the moment
Yeah I think I talk to much on my videos lol!
Yeah you’ll love mimes then also
He literally has no shelter, just Boughs for a bed and a fire.
Extraordinary that you could do this- and film it so well- no talking, no ego or focus on yourself - just your interaction with these basic elements-
Thanks!
Sounds of silence and nature,is a pure therapy 🙌🏻
👍👍
True
I love the sound of snow and the silence that comes, when there is lot of snow in the forest
Just started my day with this one. Thanks so much. I know I sound like a broken record but, love all you do. I really understand and appreciate how much work goes into these videos. Take care, stay warm, be safe.
I watch your winter videos over and over. They are so relaxing.
I love these videos, peace and tranquility alone in the woods, back to nature, the falling snow, a warm fire and no stupid blablabla from the missus, or anyone else for that matter, sheer bliss!
The most beautiful flowers grow from dirt, the most beautiful people - often scum.
You have snow, and the perfect site all at the same time! The sigh right after you first lay down on the boughs. A good time, a good video. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks!
This is the most magnificent piece of
film making I’ve seen lately. Absolutely stunning, full of meaning, and killing photography.
I’m speechless.
Thank you very much.
arkdark555 try to watch this UA-cam channel My Self Reliance, you will be much more amaze , I’m sure.

This guy is the man. No bag no tent. The first way I ever winter camped. I love his turtle poncho.
Thank you very much for your fantastic video, to watch a master woods man gliding smoothly through dense woodlands in winter is a thing of beauty!

Spicy hot noodle, perfect meal on a cold day at the outdoors! Thank you for sharing with us some great survival skills on the snowy outdoors.
This makes me happy, thanks for taking the time to make these quality

Your videos are fast becoming my favourite bush-craft videos. Super simple format. Super relaxing.
Thank you very much!
Not a word spoken and the bare necesssaties makes this just about the best bushcraft presentation i've seen. I fully appreciate the effort you put in to this video by setting up your camera to record youself . brilliant just brilliant
I get so much energy from your videos. Thanks for that. JD.
A truly blessed soul to be one with nature in such a calm manner weathering the winter.
Thanks!
That night hot with the moon and the silhouettes of the trees was epic. It took my breath away!
Thank you!
The forest is my second home! You make my day ! Thank you
Once again your sacrifice has been converted into a visual cinematic masterpiece of nature in all of its silent glory. Thank you.
Truely a winter wonderland, if you know how to survive in those conditions. Great content, thank you.
Thanks!
I'm always glad to see that you've posted another video. I enjoy them very much.
Thanks a lot!
What are you enjoying here?
I often play like this with my children but in our bedroom pretending the blanket is our tent and snow storm outside 😄 so glad found this video, just like a dream come true.
Nice I do that too with my kids!
i live in a big city and i miss my old village with forest around it this city here is stressing me out.. this video give me so much chills
Good thing you came across that high-tech bow saw . The shelter was outstanding. People can do with a lot less than they think . Not normally a drone person but those last few seconds showed nothing but miles of freedom. Thanks
Thanks a lot!
I love your videos. They have the international language of silence and action. Best regards from Argentina 👍🏻
Thanks!!
Very nice video and well done the natural way---no stupid music or dumb talking ! The way I camp when I am alone.

I'm always getting some nice inspirations from guys like you for my own trips! Thx a lot! Always nice to watch and to hear the silence...
this is great! It really inspires me to go out and camp more, especially since i live in Australia. Such a beautiful country, almost as beautiful as yours!

Thanks!
Absolutely love this video and thank you so much. I imagined this would be no different from how ours ancestors lived, but by their standards this man’s pretty high-tech! Thank you for the video!
Thanks!
You have a real gift with setting up your shots, and choosing angles that tell the story and be mindful of lighting. The editing is top notch, as always. What a beautiful trip! Nice to see someone else taking good advantage of a natural root shelter. Thank you for bringing us along! 🇨🇦😄👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much!
While I appreciate the natural shelter, I would have lashed down the trees as a little more safety, in my opinion this is what they call a widow maker shelter. Because if for some reason the trees re stand your done! Please keep it safe!
Thank you for the video! Very scenic, liked your bow-saw, and the ribs looked pretty good too!
A journey for the Soul. Thank you for sharing your journey.

I am having several depression and anxiety. This videos help me too sleep. It relaxes me. I do not need pills to sleep. Just hearing the Boise of the nature. No single word. Its just perfect. How you zoom on everything. Love it.
Thank you very much. Keep doing your thing. You are an amazing man.
Would love to meet you someday. You will be always be welcome in my home in marbella.
Star!
Finally someone understands the importance of conserving ones energy. All videos posted on the internet from cold climates has people sawing logs into small pieces suitable for wood stoves. The practice of sawing firewood is to saw as little as possible, feeding longer lengths progressively into the fire. Less sawing means less energy expended. This is a very good video. God bless.
Thanks!
As always, another great video, Thank You for sharing.
Thanks!!
Absolutely fantastic. I love the silence.
Thanks!
Thank you for the hard work you put into your videos.
This videos are therapy man. Just thank you.
Thanks!
I love the natural sound track. Feels like we are there.
Thanks!
When a man sits down on a chair and you feel perfectly satisfied with this, you are watching a great video. :-)
Lol thanks!
Interesting observation: maybe it is the setting...or the camera angle. I could not have expressed your thought better!
Snow is so cozy. When I was a kid we had a major storm that dropped 3+ feet within a day. The weight of the snow on the trees in one of my neighbor's yards bent them over and created a natural igloo-like shelter. I made my little fort inside it and started digging tunnels from it around the neighborhood. I'd pop up in random peoples' yards like a mole, scaring old ladies and dogs. Oh I miss being a kid in a snowstorm.
Wow. What a magical forest. You are blessed!
The world has gone mad with worry over covid19 and this video is just the thing I need to get my mind off it - so serene and beautiful. Thank you
thanks for watching!
I am one eyeing it for this video. I had surgery this afternoon and I have a dressing over one eye that is driving me crazy. Watching this vid is the best medication a guy could ask for. I am really glad it's a fairly long one. Happy trails from British Columbia Canada.
Thanks a lot and wish you a speedy recovery!

Great life...and for kids too.
Excellent way to spend two days...
I have lived here in Thailand for about 15 years. I think you have been here before. You do very good out in the woods. I lived for many years in the north land forests and camped out same like you do. Now I am old and do not want to deal with the snow and cold. Thank you for all the good videos of living so well in the snowy forests of Sweden.
Thanks!
Wonderfully shot, amazing skills.. as becoming standard from you.. thank you for sharing 🙏

This is a very good video, it really taught me a lot. I like the way you went in light and even took your saw blade so you could save weight, great idea. Thank You so much.
Thanks for watching!
Do we really need a scenario? Probably, just being discharged late autumn, no home to go back to, with only a sled of gears attached on your back.
Amazing shelter love it , food 🥘 looks great , beautiful forest an a peaceful ❄️ snow

So still und ruhig ohne Worte und gerede... Sehr angenehm. Manche machen solche Videos und Labern viel.... So wie hier ist es sehr genehm👍

Outstanding! Subscribed much love from the hill's of West Virginia.
Great vid, mainly because of the sound on only nature, no noisy music no bragging Only forest snow living.

Very nicely made bow saw. And the rest of the video is awesome, too. 👍 Thank you.

So far I’ve watched 2 of your videos mate and have immensely enjoyed, not least your work rate, and inventiveness, but your determination to ignore any soft options involving your Bush craft. First class viewing with plenty of interesting features not least the ‘ skinning ‘ of the tree. Super stuff.
Thank you!!
Все отлично,некоторые моменты удивляют.
You're a bad ass.....this was awesome....Loved it...!
Thanks!
Not too badass. Brings Ramen noodles but no lighter. I'd pack a tent and forage the food.
Looks nice😊 Green and fluffy🌲🌲🌲
Awesome video! I love watching it all. Keep more rolling please. Thank you!
This is good. Felt like I was right there experiencing the outing with you in the wild.
Thank you that is what I'm trying to do!
All your videos inspire me! ❤️
Thank you!
Great video! I love the woodlands . Thanks!
Love your videos, they are fantastic with the lack of dialogue so I can work whilst they are on, fantastic background sound and inspirational.
I really want to start learning bushcraft. And videos like this just make me more and more keen. Keep up the fab work mate!
Thank you!
Very nice video, simply beautiful nature in Sweden.
When I am on the road, I always have at least two or three thin plastic sheets with me. Three by four meters. Hardly any weight and do not take up much space. Add a roll of kitchen aluminum foil and you can build a Not Shelter very quickly. Works well and has helped me a lot, especially in winter and rain. The feet in a plastic bag where you put the foil. Helps very well, especially on short trips.
Greetings from Frankfurt
Thanks!
Great video dude! The ribs are making me hungry! The woods always looks great after a snow fall!
Thanks!
I just can't stop watching your videos! You are truly a next level Jedi Master! 😉

I love this genre of quiet films in the wilderness. It is how I like to be too - never had a day of my life with as little contact with others than I would like.
The good life! I would have built just a light wall with some pine branches around the hut to isolate the wind. Nice cooking. I love being a solitaire in the city among people, but living out as an hermit in the wilderness, you have to be real tough! Thank you! Johnny from Montreal, Canada!❤️
Thanks!
You have some winter my friend. The look on your face when the meat was cooking was pure contentment....I am glad. Thank you yet again. Take Care.
Thanks my friend!
I watch a lot of these videos but your quiet scenic adventures make me happy 😊 not to mention the hunks of meat you roast to perfection!!!😋😋😋😋😋🥳🥳
This bro is awesome. One of the best vids I’ve ever seen. Thx for ur wonderful vid bro👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Greatz
Outstanding video! Magical location! I am just amazed you were not sleeping in 5 inches of water!
Thanks!
I would never even deem myself worthy to critique this man, but I couldn't see myself camping under an uprooted tree. There's almost always a puddle where the tree stood previously. In winter, I suppose it would be good for a quick setup given that everything was frozen underneath.
@Hermit620 thanks for the info, didnt know that, i wanna go camping once in my lifetime atleast, probably would use some info
I really want to be like you. To be lived in a peacefull place with nature mother. Love your trips
@Mei Jing Mother nature will kill you and throw you to the side without a thought. There is something appealing about survival though.
You've got the same smile Bill Murray has in the Razor's Edge when he burns the book in the snowy Himalayan cave. Thanks for this.
Hot ramen 🍜 on a cold 🥶 winter day sounds so yummy 🤤🌿!! Thanks 🙏 for the peaceful vid! Much enjoyed.
Loved the drone shots at the end. Beautiful country.
I learned how to spend a night like that in mid winter in the swedish army. It was cosy and warm to fall asleep watching the fire.
Love to see your journey from the comforts of my recliner and a refrigerator full of food, now I want a bowl of noodle soup, just like the one you ate for lunch in the wilderness, thanks, G-d bless you.
I love your videography, there's much craft in that too.
Thank you!
Again 👍👍 Excellent camera work as always. True wilderness stay, much thanks. Closing drone images show a lesser man could get lost. Well done bud😉 Enjoy!
Thanks!
Very nice shots of the crescent Moon and Venus. I saw this juxtaposition as well on or about the same night. It reminds me of the song by The Stargazers "I see the Moon"
"Over the mountain over the sea
Back where my heart is longing to be
Please let the light that shines on me
Shine on the one I love"
👍👍👍
Wow Beautifull owesome.. What A Beautifull Natural Camping... What A Beautifull place... You are very lucky if you caming here... God Bless U
Awesome video! I'm glad to see someone else using a Norwegian Ruck Sack. It is my favorite bushcraft backpack and holds everything I need for a winter camping adventure. At 4:55 you reminded me of the Grim Reaper as you foraged for firewood. We hardly ever get a good snow here in Virginia and it's been five years since a Nor'easter delivered the last one. After Christmas I plan to head into the mountains of eastern West Virginia to explore the region. At 73 I need to get as many adventures in on foot before I totally get into overland camping. It's fun but there's certain exciting elements missing like a sense of survival while "lost" deep in the woods and mountains. My cardiologist recommended I quit after placing four stents in my heart. It's hard to consider it as I've been backpacking since age 10. That's a cool spot you found. I usually avoid spots like that as they're filled with water most times. I have camped under huge fallen trees after making a debris lean to. I really enjoy your videos.
