Personally, I went through the experience of dating a young lady from Korea, Seoul to be exact. It all started with a confused friend request on Facebook. After we both realized it was a mistake, joking around it, we kept in touch in small steps that then created a true friendship. Then there was the first date, we went to a restaurant, we went to the park, we only spoke in English and when she left, it was a hug at the airport. Unfortunately, her father had a distant attitude towards this friendship. I am a European citizen, from Romania. I sensed the problems she was having because of her father's reluctance and decided to stay just friends. It was a decision I made with great difficulty and extreme regret. Three years have passed since then. Meanwhile she got married.
From what I have seen in Korean dramas there is no such thing as casual dating. Most are arranged by the parents. Once you date a person you cannot date others at the same time.
Okay, so in regards to the matching shoes, t-shirt, phone case etc. I know this is 'Korean culture,' but one of you wants to do that MUCH more than the other one does lol... and I'm guessing it's the girl's idea about 95% of the time. I've lived in Korea a long time, and in my opinion, it makes the guy look (and probably feel) like a bit of a loser. He has to do those ridiculous things to keep his girlfriend, just like he has to watch his girlfriend take 100 pictures of their lunch. It's starting to get a little simpy, if you know what that means.
The youtube Algorithm must be drunk again. I really do not have a clue why that video was recommended to me. I mean yes I did some research about Korea because I am going to visit it for the first time next year in case Covid does not interfere for 1 month for language studios but I didn't do any research about Dating. Because dating in Korea was not on my radar. Nevermind I still watched the video and it was really infomative and well made. I do not know if I am going to need the knowledge when in Korea it is still good to learn new things.
How does Tinder work there for foreign guys. Is the type of photos you upload supposed to be more modest (less sexual) or stylish (clean & neat like Koreans)? Are specific there specifoc preferences or expectations in foreign guys like height or somethinf?

I spend up to 4 months every year working in Korea and I'm fluent in Korean, I've never had any issues getting a date either I dress well, tall just shy of 201cm, paid above average and maintain a decent physique coming from a sports background so it's easier for me. I tend not date Korean women around my age I've done that and it was boring and felt like it was just a box ticking exercise so I date older women that know what they want and will be straightforward with you which leads to a better date and more of an understanding. If I want to hook up I can just go to a club it's that simple. Some Korean women dislike tattoo's, it's something I've noticed so cover them and if you have facial hair don't be surprised to hear about laser treatment it's a subtle way of saying they don't like it but I refuse to get it done.
