A follow-up question could have been: Studies indicate that individuals of greater height are more susceptible to certain cancer types. This is thought to be because taller individuals have a larger number of cells, and thus, a higher number of cells that could potentially turn cancerous. For every additional 5 cm in height, there is an increased risk for six specific types of cancer.

Natural selection is brutal but necessary. We are “programmed” to instinctively differentiate the attractive from the repulsive. and, breeding with someone generally attractive, these ensure that their offspring will be too.
The majority are on the shorter side, but there are ton of taller people, especially these days. I'm a middle aged Korean American dude who is 180cm and the younger guys these days are way taller than I am.
It's a fairly common opinion, doesn't make it any better, but puts things into perspective. One of the only things that matter to women when it comes to appearance is height.
"If they're around my height, I don't really see them as a man." Crazy how women can just throw out blanket statements like this criticizing an immutable characteristic... Imagine if a guy made the same statement about a woman's weight despite her being able to fully control it. And the funny thing is, it's almost always very petite women who will impose these standards. Heightism is one of the most socially accepted forms of overt discrimination that goes unchecked, which is mind-blowing because it's essentially genetic prejudice. We collectively frown upon racism as a society, but disparaging someone for being vertically challenged is okay when-just like race-it's completely out of their control? "I don't think it's the food because I ate well when I was little, too." Nutrition does play a role, but genetics are the most important factor (i.e., tall parents tend to have tall kids and vice versa). Growth hormones only work before a person's growth plates are fused. You can inject an adult with as much HGH as you want, but it won't result in any changes to their stature post-puberty. And it's something that requires a doctor's prescription. They are typically only used with children who have a hormonal imbalance. Leg-lengthening surgery is _never_ worth it. The patient is guaranteed to suffer from a lifetime of pain and mobility issues. Unless you think gaining 4" in height is worth spending every waking hour miserable, don't do it.
before YOU make generalizations, make sure that you know the language that’s being translated lol. she didn’t say “i don’t really see them as a man” but ”이성으로 안 느껴진다“ which means “i don’t feel attraction” or “i don’t see them as a person i’m attracted to”. she didn’t say she doesn’t see them as a man overall. it’s crazy how men throw around assumptions without even understanding a language. also you talk about heightism but i bet you would prefer dating a woman shorter than you as well.

Koreans are about 4cm taller than Mongolians. I checked on Mongolians specifically due to historically very high meat diets in Mongolia vs Korea as they say Koreans seem to be getting taller and many East Asian surveys leave Mongols off the list.
Mongolians are not East Asians, they are North Asians. They are genetically different, just like Southern Europeans and Northern Europeans are different. Italians in Sardinia are only 172cm, but Dutch are 182cm. According to a survey by the Chinese Education Bureau and Sports Bureau in 2019, 19-year-olds in seven provinces in northern China are over 176cm tall, with the highest in Heilongjiang Province reaching 178cm. Central Chinese and Koreans are 174cm, and Cantonese and Japanese are both 170cm. If China's economy can reach the level of South Korea, northern Chinese will be much taller than Koreans.
@@Umenhrirnen No, North Asians are almost all shorter than East Asians. In the east of Asia, North China is the center, and the farther away from this center, the shorter the people are. Southeast Asians and North Asians are much shorter than North Chinese. Although the economy of Mongolia is much less developed than that of North China, Mongolia is a nomadic people and does not lack protein. Therefore, Mongolians are much less affected by the economy than East Asians. Koreans have more North Asian genes than North Chinese, so Koreans are shorter than North Chinese. Although North China lags behind South Korea economically, the height of North Chinese young people has surpassed that of South Koreans.
Guys it's not about north, south, cold, hot weather . When the area is plain without hills, mountains and ppl get good nutrition for a couple of generations, they will become tall. Now Sichuan, guizhou provinces are mostly hilly regions of china. Ppl there will with good nutrition become surely taller but won't become taller than ppl from bohai region or shandong province because shandong province is mostly plain. Now only 14 percent of china is plain comparing India's 45 percent. With development and good nutrition,Indians will be surely taller than Chinese. Southeast Asians are shorter because they have mostly hilly places and most of them lacked good nutrition until recently.

Nearly half of the population of Japan lives in the Kanto Plain, but their height is only 170cm.
In Korea, even if you have an ugly face, you can be popular if you are tall. In Japan, face is overwhelmingly more important than height. In that respect, Japanese and Koreans think differently.
One of the last questions should have been the importance of height versus money. I guarantee a lot of these people would choose a short guy or be a short guy that has money. Korea is definitely a society that places incredibly high societal value on wealth.
If you're an unattractive rich dude, girls will date you over more attractive guys for the money. They'll also probably go behind your back with the attractive guys at every opportunity, or just leave you for a better prospect - and tbh, you'd only have your own rich self to blame for that Legitimately, the best thing you can do when dating is to be the best version of yourself in all areas. Be social, be educated, be mature, be kind, find the joy in your life rather than expecting a partner to do it for you. That's your starting line. If you're not "attractive", get fit + learn how to style + clean up to the best of your ability. If you're not rich, at least develop a clear sense of financial discipline and have tangible goals that you are working towards. Making dating a numbers game will, at best, get you dates with fickle shallow partners who will leave you feeling even worse off - or at worst, will make you the kind of amoral person that you're perfect match wouldn't even want to share a space with. Better to strike out 9 times out of 10 for the sake of that 1 out of 10 who really matters, than to score 9 times out of 10 and still wind up alone. Allowing superficial thoughts to guide you through the dating world will leave you in the latter spot.

I'm very supporting of things like physical standards such as height for women, because I believe there's no need for a relationship if physical attraction is absent and some women genuinely can't be attracted to someone shorter than them (same with men and tall women btw) Buuuuut I think putting so much strain on a certain height is kinda nonsensical and saying "They aren't men" is going far. What difference does it make if someone is already taller than you? I’m 183 barefoot. I’ve had my fair share of time in Korea. In a crowded subway wagon, I’d find maybe one or two guys in the 185+ range, and 3-5 guys in the 180-183 range. In crowded Gangnam streets too I’d feel pretty tall, much taller than average, but never the only tall guy around. One more caveat, a LOT of men lie about their heights, and a LOT of them use insoles. My friend who’s barely 178 barefeet is exactly my height in shoes haha. It’s a running joke between us right now. But he’s not the only one, claims most of his friends do the same. And for dating, I don’t think you’d have any problem if you’re 174+ (173/174) being average. Even the girls who claim to have high height standards succumb to other factors like charm. And most of them are open to date if you’re taller than them. That’s it. Work on your other variables, control the controllables.
Im also 183 and surprisingly I wouldnt say that many guys were shorter than me. So when we talk about man didnt notice big difference. Women, on the other hand is a different story. I felt like 90% is 1,50-1,65
All men are around 6ft in Gangnam or expensive areas, thats not because everybody is tall but because everybody else is an Incel and doesn't even try anymore. Once you are in a Computer Cafe the average height is 5'6ft in men. Korea is so brutal that non Chads or short guys don't even participate in party activities anymore because korean women are the pickiest on earth. Also 30% of men or so wear Rolexes in any party area in Seoul.
Over 15% of south korean are above 181cm, and a little bit more than 40% of South Korean males are over 176cm. This is the fact based on the military conscripts examination of age 18~19 men. So yeah you are in the top 15% if you go there
6ft is the minimum height requirement to date in Korea just like any other country. Maybe you can be a few cm shorter. Women don't care about average heights they care about that all other women say that guys under 180cm are losers. Even if guys would be 165 cm on average you can be sure that women want guys who are 180+ anyway. Modern media made 6ft the magical height requirement everywhere.
As a Korean-American living here the past 5 years, Korean women will literally date a guy if he's stall despite being ugly, or fat. It's kinda crazy how many couples you see where the female is quite good looking but the guy isn't near her level.

The biggest difference I've noticed is how the new generations have grown. First visited Korea in the early '00s. I'm 5' 10" and felt more tallish than average. In the States, I felt more average to shortish. (Except, don't go to the upper Midwest. I felt like a midget visiting Chicago.) The last few times at the airport (2019) I felt pretty average. 6:05 prettiest girl had the smartest opinion. Height only matters in 1 situation, physical violence (or if you play basketball) so why do modern women care so much? And even if there was a situation where man needs to protect his GF from an attacker, there are 3 things that matter more than height, which are 1) courage 2) martial arts training 3) strength/power. Many tall men are scared softies who couldn't fight at all. And caring about this is weird, education and intelligence is much more important (MONEY is power). @@shredd5705 Man none of that matters, there just one fact, women see tall man as healthier and with better genes, it's an automatic attraction they don't even ask themselves why they like tall man they just like
Height matters in terms of looks. Your kid will likely be bullied or turned down by girls for being short. With height, they can be a model or be more athletically competitive in various sports. Taller people have higher potential to be stronger, and can more easily catch up to a shorter person in strength despite training less days. They also have a better advantage in combat, and again require less training to be able to compete with someone smaller due to size advantage. Although what the girl says is what everyone wants to hear, a pure image, she could easily subconsciously be attracted to someone taller and brushing away someone shorter in conversations due to attraction.

Some of the most ambitious men I know are short. Maybe it's a form of compensation, but it's better to be like that than 190 cm mediocrity. Millions of tall people are mediocre and lack ambition. Short men seem to have that spark and aggression that's required for success. It's stupid to value looks or physical power that much, money talks, brain is the main thing that makes the difference between losers and winners. Instead of worrying how a short kid might get bullied, I'd be more worried about how a dumb kid will get bullied Yes some tall girls might have turned my brother down (they wouldn't now, after he makes about 6-7 times average pay) but there's plenty of short and beautiful women too. Who don't see the issue. He's married to a short woman, who is also highly educated over-achiever. They were both straight A students, and both make good money now Only tall mediocre men think they have something amazing that all women want. Money and success is about brains and hard work... not about how tall you are. And women care primarily about 2 things. Your face, and your wallet
@ Your kid is more likely to be bullied if their IQ isn't high. In my school, two most feared bullies were actually short. Tough as nails, muscular, always looking for a fight. My brother was also short (not a bully, but 170 cm) and he was the captain of his hockey team, straight A student who now makes 20 000€/month, married to a short woman, who is also an over-achiever. Money is everything, and money is related to brains, education. Money is the real power. Real security. Any women with brains knows that, money is literally everything. Short men often have a spark, ambition. Which is much more important in getting ahead in life. It's all about brains, ambition and money. This isn't the caveman days. And actually in WW2, the most deadly sniper of all time, Simo Hayha was 160 cm. In war, short frame actually means (satistically) that you're more likely to survive. You're a smaller target, and fit behind every small cover better. Rifle does the killing, courage gave him cold nerves. Aiming skill is not related to height. World is full of mediocre tall men, who have nothing to offer except their height. I'd rather be super intelligent short guy, just study like hell and make big bucks. Beautiful women will line up. Ok, mostly short women, but still. They won't care, if you have real accoplishments. And if you're good looking, they don't care either. Tom Cruise is short. Michael J. Fox, Lionel Messi, Bob Dylan, Bruce Lee, Winston Churchill, Robin Williams, Steven Spielberg, Prince, Bono, Al Pacino, Pablo Picasso, Mark Wahlberg, Mario Andretti, Flea, Isaac, Newton, Martin Scorsese. All short men
Im glad to see when these people say "short" they actually mean short. Too many American videos got people purposely acting like average or even above aberage height like 5'10 is short. At least these people know what 6 feet looks like.
When they say "i think the personality is just if not more as important" they mean your face. Face = personality. Height = confidence. They're just ovblious of the effect of a good looking face on their perception of what's a good personality...so i dont think they are lying .
Ive been pretty successful at 5'7" and have been with quite a few women taller than me so I'm satisfied. Although tbh I go after taller women for my kids genetics
Telling people you're 5 ft 9 when you're 5 ft 7 isn't fooling anybody. That region of height is pretty easy to tell because there's so many of us who are actually 5 ft 8 or 5 ft 9 or 5 ft 10.
@iloveIndia-re7sd height factors depend on both sides. I have my height from my mother’s side. Plus height isn’t totally dependent on genetics. Stringer muscles hold your body more uptight. Having vitamin C, leafy vegetables, 7+ hours of daily sleep and a good workout routine works wonders for people aspiring to gain a quick few inches on height

I can't count how many times I heard from woman, that I should be taller (I'm 174 cm), even from pretty short woman and I never said to any girlfriend, that she should be slimmer. I've datet with women in variety of sizes and all of them was beautiful. My point is, that as a society, we mostly understand that we shouldn't judge people by their size, but we accept that woman can judge men by their heights. And I think it's pretty unfair.

Diversity is good for survival. Smaller creatures have a higher survival rate when resources are scarce. Say that there was some sort of Armageddon, and food became scarce. Bigger creatures require more calories to survive, so are less efficient with energy. So bigger creatures are more likely to die off like the Dinosaurs during such resource stressful times. In times of famine, creatures that require less calories become more sustainable. Continuation of a species is helped by diversity. But when resources are plentiful, bigger is often better. TLDR: just be content as you are, and move with confidence at who/what you are, regardless of size.

But in the US which is where I am, I'm generally below average. As of height of a partner, I genuinely don't care. As long as she has a nice face and a personality that goes with it, I couldn't care less about anything else.

Very rarely, is height a factor for the woman in finding the man that much more attractive in consideration of himself. But it almost always, l like 99% of the time, is based on "how we would look together". The insecurity that goes from "people will think we are siblings", or "people think he can't protect me", or even "people think I'm his mom". Man's height isn't even about him. It's the perception of others. That's what women base it on. The man is a status symbol for their peers. A trophy.
4:31 "If they're around my height, I don't really see them as a man" Yet a male who is 6ft/180cm and wears heavy makeup like woman would be considered a man over there. Interesting times....
So, pretty much the same as here in both perception and preference for both men and women. Curious to see if this holds in, for example, South Sudan or somewhere similar.

Mongolians are not East Asians, they are North Asians. They are genetically different, just like Southern Europeans and Northern Europeans are different. One of the last questions should have been the importance of height versus money. I guarantee a lot of these people would choose a short guy or be a short guy that has money. Korea is definitely a society that places incredibly high societal value on wealth.
A lot of corporate executives tend to be taller, especially in Europe and US.
If you're an unattractive rich dude, girls will date you over more attractive guys for the money. They'll also probably go behind your back with the attractive guys at every opportunity, or just leave you for a better prospect - and tbh, you'd only have your own rich self to blame for that
Legitimately, the best thing you can do when dating is to be the best version of yourself in all areas.

So yeah you are in the top 15% if you go there
Great! I'm not tall, nor have charm either! Kudos!

Short men seem to have that spark and aggression that's required for success. It's stupid to value looks or physical power that much, money talks, brain is the main thing that makes the difference between losers and winners.
Is perfectly normal to have your own preference, but I'm 100% sure, that if some of this guys said, that the woman ended at 50kg, the will be called sexist or misogynist.
Strict for men, generous for women😂

Height & other physical aspects, like being fair-skinned, are merely external features.
Attaching importance to these, seems petty & superficial to fret about.
Deeper thinking required to seek & nurture inclusiveness, intelligence, kindness & integrity.
Only then can we build a better & more harmonious world on our tiny planet.

But humans at this point never have to worry about food, so it is beneficial to grow as big as possible

The only real benefit to being tall is to succeed at _some_ types of sports, and sports is just a fabrication we invented that could have easily been invented differently to suit shorter people 🤷
