This rendition is a festival and a tidbit for every vocal coach to analyse. The amount of vocal skill of Haley is incredible.
PMJ Primer - The pianist in this video is Scott Bradley. He's the creator of PMJ, and he arranges all the music, and performs in 95% of their videos.
Started out of his apartment in NYC, now based out of the PMJ mansion in California.
All videos are one take -- that is, they may do it 10 times, but what you see is one continuous shoot, flaws and all.
They've done one video with lipsynching (again, in one take), which went through every room in the mansion and outside, with a bevy of the performers who have appeared with PMJ.
The band has a core group of musicians, augmented when needed by strings of all types, flaming brass, bagpipes, etc.
Many of the singers have multiple appearances (but have their own careers), and many of them have toured with PMJ, world-wide.
It's... remarkable.
No, they don't do original songs. They reinterpret mostly modern songs into a multitude of genres. The PMJ channel has playlists by genre. Lots of fun.

What I like about this band is that they give the opportunity to the people that was voted out from American Idol to shine in an amazing way and prove how extremely wrong they were by letting them go. All the guests singers with this band are just out of this world…well, that’s how I see it.

This is by far the most exceptional Creep cover I've ever heard. Haley is a goddamn national treasure.
PMJ is a great rabbithole to dive into. They make all kinds of Jazz/soul/swing/gospel covers of all kinds of modern songs... Another amazing Guest singer is Morgan James. PMJ is the pianist in this video arranging the covers and asking guest singers to re-interpret the songs

This song continues to get people to smoke that one last cigarette even after quitting decades ago.
Haley is a marvel, and her performance is spectacular. As your reaction shows, she literally blows our minds every5-10 seconds. But the arrangement behind the performance is genius: the instrumentation swells to support her powerful belts and runs, and fades away to leave space for her softer phrases. I never get tired of this performance.

Haley is the best female singer of planet. Unique. Sugestion: Haley Reinhard "Black Hole Sun" or "Seven Nation Army".
As much as I love Haley and she's been on my playlist since AI and have seen her perform with PMJ live and support her 1000% I will take issue with "Best" - though I would accept an 'IMO' precursor - Haley has mastery over her instrument, and until this past year she would have been at the head of the list, and while I'm not at all into symphonic metal genre, the work I've seen Floor Jansen do, the mastery she has over her voice, and the prodigious instrument she has to work with, is hard to argue with. But I don't want to argue 'best' here. They both are outstanding vocalists, as is Diana Ankudinova. I'd sit down with any one of them or a dream come true, all three together at one venue backed by PMJ and I could die happy. (With these three, how does one even want to try to sort out 'best'? What kind of metrics does one use to determine that mark. Which is why I look at how well a person plays their instrument especially when all three aren't running in the same genre lane.) Well, that's my opinion.
Haley is an amazing singer/performer! Definitely check out more from her! Check out the video titled 'Haley Reinhart performs with her dad at Chess Records in Chicago'. This was her part in an all-day multi-artist, multi-location virtual concert called DE(TOUR) Virtual Music Festival, to raise funds to support musicians and small venues through the pandemic. There was a very diverse lineup of some really awesome artists, including The Warning (whose submission got played twice because of the level of enthusiasm of the fans in the chat) and main headliners Slash and Ringo Starr!
This suggestion is IT to see what Haley is like live
She is definitely the talent behind the mic, but PMJ has been selecting various artists, (the ones they feel will pair well with the song they've arranged), to sing various popular songs in the style of the 20's, 30's and 40's. And it's AMAZING! You should check out more of them, for sure! They are amazing!
First discovered this at my brother-in-law's wedding reception. It played low in the background of the meal, ya know before the DJ started. And it gave it a nice atmosphere; like an upscale cocktail party. Anyways, half through 'All About That Bass, I realized I recognized the lyrics! I was freaking out. This was the very next song after we figured out what they were doing, and badgered the poor DJ until he found the playlist, which was ALL PMJ, so my hubby & I now listen to them all the time.

She sings with PMJ a lot and with another girl, Morgan James. A really good song of hers is just her and an organist "Lay it Down". She and Morgan with a guitarist cover "Dear Prudence" All of their stuff is great.
You need to go down the PMJ rabbit hole. There are a few cut-throughs from the Nightwish/Floor rabbit hole, so you can always find your way back. They have so many good singers, great arrangements and brilliant videos. Standouts include Dream On with Morgan James (who is astonishing), Barbie Girl (also with Morgan), Take Me to Church (Morgan again!), All About the Bass (which has Haley, Morgan and Arianna Savalas). Just loads of them. If you like great singers, you will not be short of great material to watch and listen to.
I would also heavily suggest idontwannabeyouanymore with Catie Turner, and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For with Rogelio Douglas Jr.
Haley is an incredibly talented artist and one of the best female vocalists on the planet. Her version of this song is legendary.
If you liked Haley, and her jazz and soul style, you should check out Angelina Jordan, who is only 15 years old currently and started at age 6! She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of seven!
You mentioned you like Haley's Voice. I agree. But what you will like are Angelina's voices plural. She can adjust her voice to any song or style she is singing and crosses genres with ease. In my opinion she has one of the most versatile voices I've ever seen. Different style of jazz than Haley, but very talented. There are over 140 performances on UA-cam.
Haley is a solo artist who finished 3rd on American Idol in 2010 (2011). Her parents have a band and she's would sing with them at a young age. She does Jazz, Rock and Pop but I think she can really sing anything. Check out the Extra Gum commercial where she sings Elvis' Can't Help Falling in Love. There are two versions on UA-cam, one with the complete Ad and Haley's voice and one cutting in and out between the Ad and Haley in the studio. Personally, as nice as Haley is to look at, I'd do the full Ad first to get the full effect. I love her version of the Blind Faith classic "Can't Find My Way Home". She does an excellent version of "House of the Rising Sun" on Idol and even covered Led Zeppelin on Idol (they had to get special permission for her to sing Led Zeppelin) with "What Is and What Should Never Be". Finally, I forgot to mention the great duet of Haley and Morgan on the Beatles "Dear Prudence".

@@TomTuffnuts Two teenage country music singers. Haley actually finished in the bottom three a near record number of times. In large part because she was given no backstory and she was the only one routinely criticized. Two of the judges' comments would suggest she had given a poor performance when she hadn't. They would do such things as criticize her song choice or tell Haley she needed to step up her game like another contestant. LA Times, 5-12-11: "What do the judges have against Haley?"
@@TomTuffnuts It's probably best for her that she didn't win as they would have tried to turn her into a pop princess. She did get a record contract but I think was dropped and now I believe she's independent and doing okay for herself. She also is a voice actor and I believe recently did a live action role on a Netflix movie.

Scott Bradlee is the nucleus of PMJ. He re-imagines modern songs in throwback styles, arranges the music, and recruits the appropriate musicians and vocalists. Scott is the only thing that never changes from one PMJ video to the next. The most popular of all PMJ videos are the ones featuring Haley...but there are many other excellent non-Haley PMJ performances. One of the most distinctive covers they've done in a long time was "Wannabe" (Spice Girls)...done last year in the style of the WW2-era Andrews Sisters! I agree that Haley has one of the best voices anywhere (and in my opinion)...the best all around voice in the world; Maybe this seems a bit wild to say, but her range is astounding. Can I ask you to please react to a two song combo with the link below ? Haley and Harry (her dad) were asked to perform for a Chess Records benefit concert in Chicago on Aug 18, 2020. From my understanding there were a lot a big name performers this day and I think it was James Bull in another reaction post that said Haley really got noticed by the two performances she and her father gave. Also the audio is superb. This video is a little long...about 15 minutes. One other reactionist broke his reaction in part a and part b, for the second song. Haley is by far the most talented female vocalist to have ever performed with PMJ. As all of her stuff has the highest of all view counts on PMJ's very extensive UA-cam Channel. As everything Haley did with PMJ is excellent but "Seven Nation Army and "Oops I Did It Again" will both blow you away just as much as her "Creep" cover did.
Haley Reinhart is an independent artist who records and releases music on a regular basis. For years all the big major record labels have approached her and negotiated with her about signing a record deal, but so far none of them have ever managed to sign her up. Thus, for this reason her original music is never played on the radio and she is also not permitted to appear on network TV. Nonetheless, her original music is damn good if you don't mind it not be playing on the radio.
Anyway, here's a few videos of Haley performing her own original music live at various concerts.

Haley was on American Idol, there is a song she did "House of the Rising Sun", PMJ "Seven Nation Army", and she does sing her own music, one, in particular, is "Free", these are my recommendations. To me, Haley's voice is an instrument.

Haley was on American Idol (way back then), she came 3rd I think, the same year a guy named Casey Adams, was also on the show and he have also done some work with Postmordern Jukebox. You can check out All about that base, where both of them are. So something good have come out of Idol, Haley was good then but as you have just heard she is Great Now.
Yes, Many more opportunities to be in awe of Haley for sure! This cover is in my top 3 songs ever- Anyway, I highly recommend checking out Daneliya Tuleshova- If you start at the beginning, she covers Demi Lovato's Stone Cold for her blind audition of The Voice Kids Ukraine, when she was 10 - She is from Kazakhstan. She won that contest and then went on to compete in The World's Best and America's Got Talent- She is 14 now. So, jumping ahead to covers when she is 14, I would have to recommend her cover of Shallow and Not About Angels - I promise, you will be blown away. She is brilliant and her tone is amazing

Hi Tom, loved your reaction and subscribed. The only constant in Postmodern Jukebox, (PMJ), is the guy at the piano, Scott Bradley, it is his brain child and does all the arrangements, well almost all of them; their recording of Despacito is by Ton DeSare. He then uses a lot of session musicians and a large variety of singers. Many of them go on to do their own thing. Haley is from a musical family and she got her big break after coming third in season 10 of American Idol. You should check her out singing Seven Nation Army and Black Hole Sun. Other notables are Morgan James Dream On and Take Me to Church. Some of my personal favourites, also include; Thriller, Africa, Royals, Talk Dirty and Bad Romance, Enjoy the ride.

So many great artists being highlighted by Scott Bradley and his excellent choices in arrangements and musicians. Haley and Morgan are deservedly the most talked about two (which have collaborated w/o PMJ, "Dear Prudence"), but the others will not disappoint in the slightest.

Haley has a few more performances on PMJ that are awesome she is a visual treat to watch and hear.
Another awesome singer is Angelina Jordan with her own arrangement and version of Screaming Jay Hawkins 1956 classic tune " I Put A spell On You', when she was just 9 years old , she will melt your brain with her vocal artistry as well. You have a new sub ,Cheers!!

Kathy here - I know its been a while since you reviewed this one, but I don't know if anyone mentioned her performances on American Idol. She was great, but didn't win, because I don't think she was "wholesome" enough for the show.
