I’ll never understand how Haley isn’t a megastar. Like Chris Stapleton has changed country, I’d love to see Haley do the same thing for pop music. Hell, I’d love to hear her front a rock band.
It's sadly way too simple. There's popular music which sells well and GREAT music which tends to be very niche. It's the same for much of our culture. I would say the best example is food. Chain stores are popular but basically serve edible food most people will like but then you have smaller restaurants that make fantastic meals which require particular tastes.
To become a megastar, one has to sign a deal with a big major record label. So far, Haley has always refused. In any event, I think she will eventually sign a deal and hopefully sooner rather than later.
But she's not on that pop bleeding edge and also, she'd need some original tunes. "Seven Army Nation" for a while was being heard at every college football game. I don't want to be or sound sanctimonious but that bleeding edge is a battleground for listeners trying to "keep up" as it is for artists trying to find the next new angle. We are lucky in my opinion that we aren't tied into that game and can check out other stuff but by only wandering from the crowd. As suggested below, maybe she'll sign with a major label and they'll find her some original songs, but, as Elisabeth suggests ... she's enjoying herself. Again, not to preach but fame and fortune (seriously, money's kinda nice to have) or having this kind of fun?

Preach Haley, Preach!! Thank you for reviewing this and reacting with such enthusisasm 😊!! This is a singer who knows her vocal gift and how to use it ....the bad must be super praised as they harmonise perfectly - not one weak link in this piece of musical art ❤❤
PMJ's version of this is a total work of art, from the visuals and lighting, to the stunning arrangement with the awesome mute trombone, etc, and of course Haley's absolutely mesmerising vocals, mannerisms and whole performance. A pure delight for the ear and the eye. Music doesn't get much better than this.
It was pointed out on another reaction that the dress is in the colours of the New Orleans Saints - which I think is a rather cool nod to the influence behind the arrangement.
Seeing her live with PMJ was probably the best concert I've ever been to. She was incredible the whole time and was stunning the whole time. Her stage presence is incredible and of course her voice
I think she's the most talented singer of her generation, and more than that, she's the best "entertainer" singer I've ever heard. With her voice, and her body. And none of her vocal acrobatics are for show; rather, they're all part of the show. What a well-rounded performer.
Hi Elizabeth, I Loved this performance, your reaction and your new warm, red dress! Haley has become one of my favorite featured vocalist on PMJ and she is such an Amazing Singer and Entertainer! I Loved the sextet of musicians in the background...especially the Trombone soloist w/ the plunger (a former Trombonist myself). I also want to Thank You, Elizabeth and your fans for recommending these Awesome Singers/Performers/Performances! You're the BEST!!! 😄
@@TheCharismaticVoice - Miss Elizabeth, you've now reacted to both Morgan James and Haley Reinhart, two of the most incredible singers that you never hear on the radio! Which is sad, sadly. I'd like to point out something that I've noticed that really contrasts the two vocalists: Morgan, with her Julliard training, has impeccable diction over and above her powerful soul voice. Haley, OTOH, has a tendency to drop consonants and slur over words, sometimes making it difficult to understand what she's saying - much more of a jazz-type of singing. Don't misunderstand, I'm not trash-talking Haley, just pointing out the two very different pronunciation styles between the two women. I love them both, have seen both in concert, will gladly go see them again. You should too, if/when the opportunity arises! Thanks for your great reaction videos, and your honest appreciation for talented artists!
As reaction videos go, yours are clearly the most informative. I love how you address all of the little technical nuances within each song. Can't believe it has taken me this long to find this girl ,what an incredible singer.i love fifties musicals and she takes u back there,I watch her and see Jane Russell and Monroe mixed with Billy Holiday.A truly astounding talent that doesn't come around very often.
Haley is simply the best in the world. I am 52 and i have never heard anyyone sings as good as her!!! With some singers you want to just listen to their voices but with her, you want to watch her as well. The way she moves her body, her facial expressions, te way she uses her hands just second to none!
When you listen to her non-PMJ stuff you really get to see what a vocal chameleon she is. She's not just singing with incredible creativity and skill, but playing a character and injecting so much sass. I highly recommend her original Lay It Down. It's another stunning vocal performance and perfectly demonstrates just how different she can sound when she's just playing herself. She's awesome.
Let me just say, you are an absolute JOY to watch! Not only are the videos both entertaining and educational, but you can see the genuine passion and excitement that you have for music in your expressions and reactions, regardless of how much you might like or dislike a particular piece. And when you DO really like one, holy crap is your smile infectious and does that enthusiasm help remind viewers of why they themselves fell in love with the particular piece in the first piece. Keep up the good work. You do an amazing job at it!!!
I mean, your not the only one getting the shudders from listening to her, and the SWAY she teases us with as she sings doesn't hurt either. Chills, I have chills. If anything was ever described as musical foreplay this would be it.
Man, Haley kills it, again, and in a good way. And Elizabeth's excitement only adds to the appreciation by delving deeply into all that I never really understood but very much appreciate. I'm curious as to why I really love this site so much, but I won't become obsessive about that.
Honestly, just came upon this channel in the last week or so. I binge-watched so many of her videos over a couple of days. I just love how excited she gets over singing and music in general. It's a really nice ray of light in the year we've just had. Keep doing you!
She almost sounds like Louis Armstrong when she gets gritty in this song. So amazing! And of course I will have to suggest Morgan James singing "Maps", again. She has a ton of range as well.
Haley is a Scat master like Louis, Here, she uses it like a trumpet in Casey Abrams' "Steam Roller Blues" ua-cam.com/video/5dK7ikvK0_I/v-deo.html I've a ton of Haley performances w/ some masterful scatting in unusual places. One of my all time favorite Haley scats is when she inserts a 30 second gorgeous scat into her cover of the "Traffic version" of Blind Faith's "Can't Find My Way Home" (Haley is a rocker at heart who excels in Jazz, so combining genres is no big deal for her) ua-cam.com/video/rfgTHVGtjjA/v-deo.html
Haley is absolutely fantastic! But watching you watch her is like watching a kid on Christmas with giggles and sparks in your eye! Fantastic, thank you for sharing!
1st of all; your breakdowns are ridiculously good!!, I love the technical stuff. Was in the music biz for quite a while and I love listening to you descriptions. Haley is insanely one of our best vocalists from all the techniques she can do with her voice, personality, and presence. You should give 2 of her later originals a listen. "Lay it down" shows her upper range. "I don't know how to love you" is a great cross between her blues style and a PMJ style. Keep up the great work love it!
I have watched/listened to this several times now, apart from the fact she almost leaves me speechless with her sheer talent and skill, her voice literally grabs a person's soul, shakes it like a rag doll, and completely takes control of one's senses. she has it all, control, class, a sensual siren-like quality, it is truly an eargasm, I couldn't put it better than you, she is a living, breathing Jessica Rabbit!
Haley is so playful and powerful and sultry and classy all at once, i totally adore her. She's a special one we have to keep safe so to speak, she's way too good to be a generic pop starlet and rightfully has chosen to do things her own way. Haley could be called "a lady from a time long passed" because her love for (her) music primarily focusses on older music and styles, and she really is a master at expressing that classic feeling in a new light. Ty for the react Elizabeth, any more Haley is most welcome (and some more Morgan James cant hurt either hehehe)
Oh my God I love Haley she is so good. I still don't know how she didn't take first on Idol, and she's so beautiful - the whole package. Great analysis!!
I've never heard anything like this. She hits my frequency. If you close your eyes it's easy to imagine a trio is doing this. She's amazing. The whole arrangement. Perfect. Hey Coach, have you ever heard a better vocalist? Who would you put in the same league? You were almost giddy with joy listening to her. It wasn't just me.
What a 2 months of discovery I've had! First, I trip over PMJ's music for the first time (being played while the the audience assembled for a play), then finding such wonderful singers like Haley and Puddles Pity Party. Can't stop listening to 'Royals'. Then the icing on the cake. I find your delightful self on You-Tube. Your passion and entusiasm combined with such great technical knowledge of music, I feel compelled to watch but dont know whether to look at you or the performer! You've made a 64 year old guy very happy, in the nicest possible way.
I love you nerding out on Haley, but more so, I love that you aren't just another youtube leech trying to get views gasping at a song. You are explaining what is going on, why it's amazing, how the singer is doing it, and basically defining WHY Haley is so damned fun to listen to. I like Haley when she sings songs I don't even care for, just because of HOW she sings. Now I have an arsenal of terms and techniques I can identify thanks to you.
She is one of my all time favorite voices. Hard to believe she lost American Idol, and she has gotten better with time, theirs a video of her and her dad too that is so good
Your nuance when you breakdown the cacophony of what we neophytes are experiencing is so welcome. Somehow you integrate the emotion of the performance w/ the technical aspects... and it doesn't distract from my organic response to the emotional experience. Thank you.
Another great video, Haley is an absolute gift. I really adore that she kept the sass of the original version and just amplified it so well. It's such as sassy song, it lends itself so well to her style and she just kills it. And as always, PMJ are world-class in the instrumentation.
I was just thinking today when Haley popped up on my Pandora, hey I wonder if Charismatic Voice has done any reviews of Haley? Boom, here it is! Love her voice and attitude!
yeahh finally and well the guy in piano is so underrated as he does all their arrangements my favorite part of this song is after the whole trombone solo near the end of the song the few notes they play right before she throws her hands down, they make the whole jazzy vibe

It was pointed out on another reaction that the dress is in the colours of the New Orleans Saints - which I think is a rather cool nod to the influence behind the arrangement.
You should definitely check out PMJ's cover of Mad World.
Definitely. Giant Clown Action.
Yeah, the visuals of tiny Hailey and the giant Puddles totally compliments their very different voices.
If you ever get a chance to see Puddles Pity Party live, then do it, it's one of the best live shows you will ever see!
That song absolutely SMOKES.
Seeing her live with PMJ was probably the best concert I've ever been to. She was incredible the whole time and was stunning the whole time. Her stage presence is incredible and of course her voice
You and your commentary just makes me happy. Thanks for bringing a little joy to the word.
The genuine excitement you show at every detail that surprises you is what I love about your videos. And all the technical info makes it better
You're always welcome Kirby! Thanks for always supporting me & the channel!
Watching your emotional reaction to the singers and the songs is fun. This has also been a great place to learn about new artists. Keep on doing what her doing!
gotta hear her singing Black Hole Sun with these guys!!!!

love the hair @elze
Can't believe it has taken me this long to find this girl ,what an incredible singer.i love fifties musicals and she takes u back there,I watch her and see Jane Russell and Monroe mixed with Billy Holiday.A truly astounding talent that doesn't come around very often.
I have watch a LOT of people react to this video. Your reaction is best by a mile.
Checkout PMJ's version of "All About That Bass" - features both Haley Reinhart and Morgan James!
Agree! That one is so good too.
All about that Base, the Kate Davis version was the song that got me on PMJ. I tend to like most of the PMJ tunes more then the originals.
Agreed. That is a great video. Three great singers and of yes, Casey isn't bad either.
I think the best Haley and Morgan collab is them covering Dear Prudence with just guitar accompaniment.
Yes! 4 great voices in one. I vote for this!
You need to do a "Tea Time" with Haley!
Her work with Puddles Pitty Party on PMJ's version of Mad World was my introduction to her singing - epic.
Haley is simply the best in the world. I am 52 and i have never heard anyyone sings as good as her!!! With some singers you want to just listen to their voices but with her, you want to watch her as well. The way she moves her body, her facial expressions, te way she uses her hands just second to none!
Another colab of theirs that is really good is “Oops I Did it Again”
Dude that cover is one of my favorites.
Here is my favorite "Oops I Did It Again" cover, "ua-cam.com/video/WeQlbfZ0hMk/v-deo.html"
Yeah the Betty Boop style really goes great with the lyrics as well
I think I liked "Habits" better...
Post Modern and Haley absolutely brilliant..
I want to like this a 100 times!
This girl should b awarded ''BEST SINGER OF ALL TIMES!'' without a qustion!!! She is rediculously good!!!
Honestly, just came upon this channel in the last week or so. I binge-watched so many of her videos over a couple of days. I just love how excited she gets over singing and music in general. It's a really nice ray of light in the year we've just had. Keep doing you!
Thanks Dustin!
She’s an actress. She puts many different characters in the story. Fabulous
So vivacious, so sultry, and simply captivating. It is a cross of New Orleans and Cab Calloway at the Cotton club and I am astounded. Great reaction.
She almost sounds like Louis Armstrong when she gets gritty in this song. So amazing! And of course I will have to suggest Morgan James singing "Maps", again. She has a ton of range as well.
Haley is a Scat master like Louis, Here, she uses it like a trumpet in Casey Abrams' "Steam Roller Blues" ua-cam.com/video/5dK7ikvK0_I/v-deo.html
I've a ton of Haley performances w/ some masterful scatting in unusual places.
This is a great song and I think you’ll love her version of mad world, also would be amazing to see you experience queen, any queen song
Thanks to this video Postmodern Jukebox has become my current favorite music group. Seriously, thank you!!!!
one of the Greatest Vocalist Of Our Time !!!
That is not an overstatement.
Haley Reinhart killed it on this song. Watching your reaction of this is probably the 20th time I've watched this! Love love love it!
Haley is Incredible, one of my favorite singers.
You are so delightful.......both of you
Have to see all your reactions on Haley.....
This one is good, but you have to see her cover of "Lovefool" by The Cardigans!! That's probably my favorite PMJ cover of hers!
That is a great one. Haley's rock covers and original songs are all great too.
I absolutely love Haley Reinhart! And I love PMJB too! Thank you so much!
Lol she crushin so hard 🤣
I sure get a kick out of you when your so happy with a singer and song, you make me happy and other folks to. Keep up the awesome work on your channel
Post Modern Jukebox fills me with joy! I'm so glad you're enjoying them!
Thank you.
Haley's singing is so good, her voice just seems overpowered... she's the Supersinger! There is no song she cannot have her way with.
Haley was making sweet love with that song, and loved every moment of it.
Watching you...you seam to devour that music and that performance. I'm sure Haley would love to see how much you liked it.
this will be a good one. I love everything about this performance...even the instrumentation.
yeahh finally and well the guy in piano is so underrated as he does all their arrangements my favorite part of this song is after the whole trombone solo near the end of the song the few notes they play right before she throws her hands down, they make the whole jazzy vibe
@@galadballcrusher8182 the horn solos did it for me.. I was smiling like a nerd all the way through this song though.
